Happy New Year. Great video with a lot of good information given in a short time I'm sure this will be appreciated by many anglers both new and experienced ones. Keep up the good work and stay safe.
I know it's an old video but I'm still amazed by the fish you catch on the lures,as new to lure fishing I'm learning something new all the time and started to catch a few bass, keep the videos coming tight lines 🎣🐟👍.
Top stuff Slippy - lovely picture quality. I managed a small codling on a metal lure from Mackerel rock in Holyhead this summer - same job, slow on the bottom - and I'll be trying to get a bigger one as soon as I get a chance to go back over (very high and dry here in South Yorkshire). Not something that the locals would try I think - in fact the blokes I know there would laugh their bo))ocks off - but ya nevah knaa eh? Sithi after, Dave
Top stuff mate, this looks like great fun! I hit Eyemouth around New Year seeking lure caught cod too, but wasn't as lucky as you! Shame the big 'un came off..
Joe Turner your time will come, I'm sure. I had no joy on my previous 4 visits but one thing i noticed this were how subtle the bites were- If I felt a tap I'd stop winding and not strike, then lift in to it. seemed to do the trick this time.
Steven Roberts no worries and thanks for the comment. It's the remote for my camera that I'm pressing, it has a 2 minute flash back so you see me pushing record.
dirtharris I sometimes use 18g when the wind, tide or swell is too much for me to stay in contact with a 14g, but I find the 14g gives a more natural action and sink rate to the size lures I'm using, in the deep water there. Thanks for your comment
Lovely, thanks. I was thinking of getting both. Love your videos....the wilds, music, fishing...with actual fish being caught! I do the wilds and fishing in 2 hour trips to Anglesey and the Lleyn, but rarely catch! Trying to find deep water for this kind of fishing on Anglesey is difficult...Llanbadrig and Carmel Head are my next best bets. Cheers for the reply Slippy.
dirtharris it's good to have a range of weights available. Going to wilds adds that little bit of effort which i really enjoy, part of the hunt I guess. I've fished the Lleyn a couple of times and mainly had small pollock, coalies and loads of wrasse and good ones too, with the odd bass; North Wales is a lovely part of the world. Tight Lines!
longjohnsenx S thanks for your comment. My braid rubbed on the rock the fish sought cover in. My drag was set as high and low as I dared, any higher and I risked breaking line, any lower and I would be able to stop them hitting cover on the bottom. There's always next time though :-)
Just wondering why you seem to bully the fish in instead of playing them in? You seemed to lose that big one just through brute force? I'm not being critical I'm genuinely interested to know. Great videos I've subscribed
Graham Gould I am actually trying to bully the fish for a couple of reasons- the ground I'm fishing in this video is really heavy and the cod and pollack I'm targeting are always trying to head back down to it which means I need to turn them and get them near the surface ASAP before they snag me up. Also I'm fishing lightish tackle and that fish I lost was taking line (not that a obvious in the vid ) so I don't have the luxury of playing them. Other fish, like coalie mackerel and bass, are higher in the water column so I can play them a bit more. Plus my rod is soft so it looks like I'm putting a bit more pressure than people normally would but because I'm fishing so light, it means I have to pile on the pressure. Makes it a bit more fun and gives the fish a sporting chance. thanks for your great comment and sub 👍
Enjoy the show but watch it without the sound because the so called music is terrible for such a quiet relaxing past time. What are you thinking of putting this rubbish on and taking away from the work you have put in the videos. Are you on the wacky Tobacky.
Glad you liked my videos and thanks for your comment andfeed back. Nope, I'm not on the "wackytobaco" but I when I started making videos I was making them for my own use, kind of like catch log and so I added the music I like listening to (we all have our own taste ☺ lto the videos and never thinking they would be as popular as they are now. Since then I've had loads of similar comments to yours so have since reduced or cut out music all together. Check out some of my later videos, there's less music in them. Tight lines!!
like the new format. enjoyed that. Hanks for posting! :-)
Hi Mate,
Love this type of video. Very informative. Cant wait to get back down there myself.
Best for now,
Steve in Fife.
Stevie D thanks for your feedback, i'll see if I can do some more. tight lines!

Thanks mate, hopefully I should be able to do 1 a week soon, or at least that is my plan :-)

Dave Dawson I hope you get the big one you're after, BTW, Cod love silver metals that flutter as they sink in the summer. Thanks for your comment Dave

great vid as usual and a takey to boot . keep them coming mate.
Mrs Doyle goes fishing thanks mate. got to ask though, what's a "taken"?
Talkey, i spelt it wrong just never heard you talk,
Mrs Doyle goes fishing no worries, it was the first time for me too, it seems much easier when you're watching other people do it on youtube
the more you do the easier it gets. anyway you dont sound to geordie lol
Spot on matey
Another great video ;)
Lewis Wilkinson cheers Lewis. Funny, I only got fish on the fork tails this session :)
They fill a gap between paddle and pin tails ;)
Lewis Wilkinson yeah you're right mate. Pintail is what I was meant to say in my earlier post.
Oh, hahaha. That's only because you didn't have any realistic shad split tails lololol
Lewis Wilkinson exactly right mate haha
Great videos, just to let you know that I like this tune you've got playing, what is it? Keep up the good work!
Just saw the credit at the end, thought I recognised it!
Mate .... I din't know you could talk, another great video again ( what is that thing on your wrist you keep pressing)
David Storton haha yeah, maybe too much ;-). It's the remote for my camera, the camerahas a 2 min flashback so you see me press the button.
COOL always wondered
you would think it was the summer our seasons are coming later & later great video were you north or south of the lighthouse
ip Freely it seems to be getting that way. This is the 1st mark, south of the lighthouse.
Is that ur own tunes that ya use in the video
I've noticed in your videos when you catch a fish you press something on your watch, what is it?
gaz love it's the remote for my camera. Thanks for your comment
Great video, commentary cherry on the cake..... just being nosy but what you keep doing with your watch ? 👍
Steven Roberts no worries and thanks for the comment. It's the remote for my camera that I'm pressing, it has a 2 minute flash back so you see me pushing record.
Wondering about the spro cheburashka weight you're using and thinking of getting some. Is 14g about right or would 18g be ok...bit more distance?
dirtharris I sometimes use 18g when the wind, tide or swell is too much for me to stay in contact with a 14g, but I find the 14g gives a more natural action and sink rate to the size lures I'm using, in the deep water there. Thanks for your comment

whats the weight called your using o I can order some.cheers
longsusan it was a Fish Arrow J-shad 4 inch. hope that helps
longsusan I'm using an 18g Spro bottom jig in this vid but any generic cone weights or chebaruska will do the job.
Nice Vid, but what about using your drag?...
longjohnsenx S thanks for your comment. My braid rubbed on the rock the fish sought cover in. My drag was set as high and low as I dared, any higher and I risked breaking line, any lower and I would be able to stop them hitting cover on the bottom. There's always next time though :-)
