@The Futur Lovely Video clip! Sorry for the intrusion, I would love your opinion. Have you thought about - Fiymaria Graphic Gainer (probably on Google)? It is a great exclusive guide for getting the best graphic design for your project minus the headache. Ive heard some great things about it and my best friend Jordan finally got astronomical success with it.
This was super helpful! To Recap: 1. Have Visual Hierarchy 2. White space is your friend 3. Direct Viewers' Eyes 4. Use plenty of Contrast 5. Look for balance -Alignment etc...
I like how Matthew, as a Motion Designer, demonstrates his understanding of composition in other fields of Graphic Design, showing how universal design can be when you master the basics.
Great Designer but your ultimate gift is being a Teacher... humble & soft spirited and beautiful posetive energy. Thanks and you guys just got yourself a new subscriber...
Re-Watching this masterclass in creative direction. We are big fans of this thoughtful approach! Design is a process and part of building up the soul of your design involves learning to look for the things Matthew is pointing out. Take notes designers & CDs. Big fans of this and all of the Futur content.
Great design critique! For the FIFA poster, I'd actually prefer the original poster. I understand and appreciate positive and negative space. But, it seems to me that the original artwork (country names, contrast wise) creates more legibility for web accessibility. The knockout orange block text feels weak in comparison to the white against the solid orange background. My 2 cents.
I agree. I thin you could have combined the ideas though and taken the white and made it an orange with either less opacity or just the same orange but a light color.
Really glad to see you guys break down these great designs and apply subtle but meaningful changes. That “tightening” up of skill is what I’m looking for!
This was suuuuper helpful. It's so easy to spend hours pouring over a design, but it's crucial to take a step back and make sure you are hitting the fundamentals strong before diving back in. In fact, starting with nailing the basics would probably save a lot of time.
Love how clean you laid out this video. So easy to digest and implement. You do a great job with that dude! Would love to see more vids like this from you Matthew!
Your a beast!!! Minor tweaks and the work became way more impactful. I'm impressed. Shows your experience and knowledge without a lot of fluff talk. I'd like to see your rapid visualization skills (30 min or less) from idea to concept. I think a lot could be learned. Appreciate the thorough and short video.
You have been asked by the National Eye Institute & Cantoone to create a simple color reference guide for people with Rod monochromacy or achromatopsia. This guide should allow them freedom to create color combinations, which are harmonious (based on color wheel theory).
Matthew!! Thanks man the class helped me so much but I still have more to learn. At this point I just need to keep putting in the work but I thought I saw a comment you got something coming up for style frames?
Holy sh#8 the simple balance made the logo so much better instantly. Also I use Affinity Designer on the Mac and fell in love with it, since the first time until today. They did what chrome did to browsers when it was released.
Love this types of videos, would love to see more examples from other design fields, like web design, app design. Also please do more episodes on Affinity Designer on iPad.
Great video! It’s always a good thing to utilize foundational design skills. Without these, what’s the point? Thank you! You (Futur/Blind - entire staff) all continue to strengthen and stretch design community❣️
Matthew Encina it is absolutely my pleasure - it’s refreshing to hear positivity, authenticity and genuine kindness in design. Your contribution to the greater good is what it’s all about! 🔆
Great video, thanks you. One thought I had during this video was about the use of "feeling". If I passed a logo or any design onto 10 professional designers for critique, each would feel its done at different places depending on their experience. How does any designer say "this logo is done"?
haha that makes good sense, so I guess it comes down to education and learning through help from other designers and becoming self confident. Thanks again Matthew, watching your productivity tips now. You guys do awesome work helping the design community, it is very valued.
The first poster I would recommend the change color of the stroke into black or increase the width of the stroke because of a thin line of orange not easy to ready, especially on outline text.
Hi Futur, I just joined an art school where I will learn graphics and animation but they have been teaching me sketching for last two weeks. Is it good? or should I change? Thanks.
Nishant Bilkhiwal You're already judging a school by what they're teaching you just in the first two weeks? How long IS this program? 6 months, a year? 4 years? That depends. If it's a short-run course, obviously you don't want to spend half the course on paper and pencil seeing that animation involves a lot more technically than traditional art; which brings me to my second point. It also depends on what kind of animation program you are in. Is it traditional art (cell animation), or is it digital motion graphics? Either way, it is always good to have some foundation in fine arts as every good process ALWAYS starts on paper first. However, it makes sense if you are in a traditional program that you will be mostly sticking to paper. If the program is digital, you are more than likely being taught a base skillset that every designer, traditional or not, should have in their toolbox, and later moving on to more technical work on the computer. Every design program always tests out those essentials first, but you can't judge a program in the first two weeks! Don't you know the curriculum description? Isn't there a list detailing the entire coursework for the program?
Love it! Thank you for another amazing video, I really appreciate it. I've been a professional designer for over 7 years but it's always educational to watch The Futur. Sharpen your Saw people.
Great tips, thanks! Also, I love the 3-camera setup, very polished presentation. I do have a question on that note, how do you guys mount the top-down camera? Is it mounted to the ceiling somehow or do you have a very tall stand? Or something else altogether? Cheers!
Liked the video. That said, the change to the first poster was a stylistic one, not necessarily an improvement in composition. With borders being used for the larger font, the bold text in the central image still allows the eye to be drawn inward, keeping the reader focused squarely on the main communication point of the design. Fundamentally, the original design wasn't really flawed, and I actually preferred it to the revised one, which lost some of the original design's impact.
I liked all the designs and stayed with you video till the end to see your amendments - loved the application / pad / pen and slight changes made all the difference (with rulers could have margined up things easier ?) - you have a nice relaxing tone (but the music between tips was a bit loud).... would like to see more ...!

Same principles, different applications.
So true! Good design is good design. I feel like a great designer can design for any application.
I love how you're so interested in complimenting the works before critiquing it. The constructive criticism is top notch
Great Designer but your ultimate gift is being a Teacher... humble & soft spirited and beautiful posetive energy. Thanks and you guys just got yourself a new subscriber...
The quality of this video is as good as the advice given. Loving the latest uploads👏
Yay!!
More from Matthew please!

James Chiu completely agree
My thoughts too. If this poster going to be big on a wall, the original one will look better espcially from distance.
I agree. I thin you could have combined the ideas though and taken the white and made it an orange with either less opacity or just the same orange but a light color.
Creativity is the source of design. The source is enriched by experiences and knowledge acquired since the first day of our birth ...
Great post !
I love this type of video with Matthew ! Its so much fun to learn those little tips about graphic design in a few minutes
Really glad to see you guys break down these great designs and apply subtle but meaningful changes. That “tightening” up of skill is what I’m looking for!
Matthew Encina absolutely agree! I guess refining that 10% comes with time and practice. But it sure helps when you guys share insight!
“Didn’t have to do much to make it look awesome” IT WAS ALREADY AWESOME !!! You made no difference
ohhh kayyyy. drink much haterade?
Yes! Please more of these! Especially when editing text to give it hierarchy
I am Affinity fan and user. It's good seeing a big name design firm endorsing them, it's such a great product line and company.
More of this kind of video please. Really love how the Pro designers look at thing differently.

The only video that actually made me learn and concentrate. Usually I would have moved on to the next video.
That's exactly what I thought! Before I knew it I had a pen and notebook out.

Awesome video!
Love the work The Futur is pumping out! Side note-Video quality, lighting etc. appears to have jumped a few levels. Looks great!
The team has been trying to level up here. Glad you recognize the effort.
The first poster I would recommend the change color of the stroke into black or increase the width of the stroke because of a thin line of orange not easy to ready, especially on outline text.
Thanks
Good to see content from Matthew. Thanks!
Awesome, detailed breakdowns and tips. Thanks for bringing that value to youtube!
This is super helpful with the design examples and showing what can be improved from each design 👍
Love it! Need more style frames video❤
Hi Futur, I just joined an art school where I will learn graphics and animation but they have been teaching me sketching for last two weeks. Is it good? or should I change? Thanks.
What are you trying to get out of school? Watch this video, and it you can answer your own question: ua-cam.com/video/W4fhcj5e1wQ/v-deo.html
Thanks! I will definitely watch this.

It’s mounted on a tall c stand.
Thanks Mathew. This was really helpful.
This was great, thank you! Will certainly sharing a lot of this with others. More please!
Liked the video. That said, the change to the first poster was a stylistic one, not necessarily an improvement in composition.
