Just moved to Omaha from CA a year ago. It’s definitely an adjustment. It almost feel like I’ve been living in another planet. Getting used of the weather change but it’s been growing on me. Great place to raise a family

this guy is coming from his own perspective and what people tell him. I don't dislike him, I just don't relate with his insight. California has winters that won't drive you insane. and here... our winters are definitely not for everyone. The first time I left, the winters were enough of a reason to.

    • @jb0563

@@williamstanton4283 winters are definitely hard , people in California dream white Christmas and man do we love the rain. It wasn’t until we got here we realized snow isn’t fun lol and we didn’t even get any snow this winter. I love Cali hope to get back one day but I left because I feared to let years pass me by and never have a chance to own a home and we needed a financial break. My husband worked 16hrs shifts everyday just to get by. Since we been here we’re able to enjoy life little bit more by traveling more and saving. We didn’t ever get to do that in Cali. But also so much to do in Cali you really don’t have to leave the state. I don’t think there’s any other state like Cali you really don’t worry about anything else but work and survive lol
All my family lives in California so if I ever do go back it’s for them and I won’t go back empty handed thats for sure.

My husband and I were born and raised in Southern California, it was a great place to grow up in the 60s 70s and 80s. When we started our family in the 90s we knew that we did not want our children to go through the California school system. In our search we found a great school district in a small Nebraska town. Our children are now adults with college degrees and thriving. We love Nebraska and you couldn’t pay us to move back to California as it is now. Nebraska is a great place to raise a family and we are so grateful we made the decision to move here. There is always something to do with the family, never a dull moment with all the nature that surrounds us. The only downfall we find in Nebraska are the property taxes. Aside from that we just love it here !

Nice Video! I was born and raised in Omaha. I left for the Army at 18 and never looked back. I have live in California for 38 years and I love it hear and really feel I’m living the California dream! I currently live in San Diego and it’s near perfect weather and tons of things to do. Downsides are (outrageous cost of living, major homeless problems and it’s getting overpopulated). I go back to visit family in Omaha and I can’t believe how much it has changed. It has such a cool vibe happening all over the city! I love the DT scene, the Blackstone District and I always take a drive through Dundee. I’ll never leave CA but if you can deal with the harsh winters and brutal summers Omaha has a lot going for it😀. Go Big Red!!

If I had to live in a big city in Nebraska, I would choose Omaha over Lincoln. I mean, I haven't lived in Lincoln my whole life but I'm from there but the reason is because I've visited Lincoln like 1000 times and I'm tired of it. But if I had a choice to live in any city in Nebraska, It would be Hastings because it's my little home.

We have visited twice and and fell in love with the old charm of the city and something completely different then what we are used to the market and Daily living has become outrageous in CA and considering the change, I myself work in retail and my husband in hospitality so I think finding new jobs would be easy, but have you been to CA? Population and density aren't really a problem on their own. It's when you refuse to build transit systems that those all come to a head and cause issues. Omaha is currently making the same mistakes that LA, SF, and even Austin made. Waiting until the situation is past critical to do something that actually addresses the issue.
That should really be featured here. Omaha lacks good transit, and even the streetcar isn't nearly enough. The biking infrastructure is useless for most commutes and errands. And worst of all, the majority of Omaha likes it this way.

@The Richest Man In Babylon Amsterdam, and the Netherlands in general are AMAZING! So much freedom to get around by bike, train, foot or car. Much of Europe is similar, although not as good. Japan was also perfect. By why not try and fix what we have in my adopted city?

Good video, fairly on-point with a lot of things, however, it seems like CA lumped into a certain category, like 1/2 of the state is San Francisco and the other half is LA/Hollywood and the entire state is a beach. To those who have never been here, I think you’d be pretty amazed if you got away from the tourist areas. Me personally, I have never even been to Hollywood other than driving through it, and in reality, based on what I have seen and through conversations with people who have been there, it’s far from the glamorous place portrayed on TV. It’s more like a drug-addled dump that’s been overtaken by homeless people, as is the case with most of the more well-known (and liberal controlled) cities in this state. Yes, it’s expensive to live here and is getting worse, but that’s not directly because you’re paying for luxury, it’s because you’re paying for all of the social programs the state hands out. It definitely has its downfalls, but it also has a lot to offer, IF you get away from the big cities. You should look into areas of CA that aren’t Los Angeles and San Francisco, those are the worst places in the state

Which is the majority. Fast food is going up to 20$ an hour minimum, dumbest thing ever. Continue to drill tax payers for a high speed rail that no one will use. Amtrak is always empty, but they think people will pay to travel from Sacramento to Bakersfield 😂… Not only is the cost of living ridiculous, so are the politics, the homelessness, the people popping on the streets in the Bay, along with the heroin needles you find in the restrooms. Born and raised, don’t recommend. I give California a 1/10

Mr……Nebraska will be the first hit. There are hundreds of missile silos armed with ICBMs. And the SAC headquarters is in Nebraska. Don’t forget to miss the big doin’s at the Pioneer Museum. Enjoy the fields of corn and the smell of the hay mills as you travel around. Go Big Red! Oh and when your daughter brings that boy from the Sand Hills home for dinner don’t feed him any fancy California Cuisine. Not that you could because the grocery stores there don’t stock the things you need. Or ever heard of it. Earthquakes you can handle. Oh… when you hear that beep-beep-beep on your TV pay attention. Its most likely a tornado warning or watch in effect. Warning means there’s one on the ground. A watch means just that. That the conditions are right and one could be brewing. That’s right, click your heels together Dorothy and say “There’s no place like California. There’s no place….”

We can visit far better places than California because the Cost of Living is so affordable here in Omaha. Our streets and sidewalks are actually clean in Nebraska. The air here smells like somebody is cooking vs California it smells like piss, weed, and fish.
“Live in Omaha and travel anywhere in the world.” 😂 The quality of life is just better. Fifteen to twenty minutes of travel time, you’re gonna meet people that are Nebraska nice, and you can keep a majority of your pay in your account. It’s a no brainer. Nebraska #thegoodlife
