Tyler, I found your videos a few months ago. Relocating to Omaha at the end of the month from the DC area. Really unhappy about Omaha’s property tax rates which will leave us paying almost 3x more in properties taxes for a home purchase. I don’t know about affordable! Just sold a 3800sqft home and the same home there is not only way more expensive (new build) but the property taxes make the mortgage a massive burden. Then I read about your tire/road tax... not liking what I’m seeing so far, unfortunately.
Love Omaha is Awesome, but most dont know or have wrong info about it! Omaha is Moderate Politically, and has a lot of good people, great food, great things going on and expanding economy, ive lived in many places Omaha is really good. Besides Omaha, Lincoln is also good and 1 hr away, Des Moines is 2 hr away, KC is 3 hrs away, Minneapolis is 6 hrs away, Denver 7-8hrs, & so is Chicago. There is even a place for ski in winter nearby, some reservoirs with white sands a few hr drive giving you a beach vibe, a lot of lakes and parks, great education, Maha music festival...Omaha is really cool if you know how to enjoy it !!
Actor Marlon Brando was also born in Omaha. I grew up here and lived in many cities throughout my life and there's no place better to live than Omaha. Nebraska, The Good Life says it all.
yes midtown is my favorite place to go i walk down there all the time and then my two favorite stores there are wholners grosery store and the thirst tea caffee theses two places are amazing and trust me i been around for a wile and i been almost everywere in Omaha . I am 19 as well i walk alot i love Omaha .
The last major tornado in Omaha was in 1975. There have been several smaller, less damaging ones since. The restaurant tax was supposed to be temporary. It's what the current mayor campaigned to eliminate, but kept it enacted for the tax revenue. There is also a rich history in Omaha, as can be discovered at the Durham Museum.
i'm wanting to start a completely new life, away from all of my family and friends. Omaha looks like a nice place. what are your tips for a young go-getter like me?
Family and Friends is what most people regret not putting more effort in when they die... If your a go-getter, commit yourself to loving your friends and family expecting nothing in return and i promise you when you look back on your life you will be glad you did.
I'm visiting Omaha from Detroit, and I'm excited to visit your fair city. If and when the Michigan Wolverines play the cornhuskers, in Lincoln.. I'll be there. GO BLUE lol
I am glad found your page. I am an artist and found out about Nebraska's growing film community. I researching and looking to see if its a safe place for a black LGBT+ person like myself to live.
Probably should do some research. A tornado hit Omaha back in '75 and killed 3 people and did $1Billon in damage. Since I've been here - another tornado hit (F2) on 144th and Harrision (hence the new Tornado Wash car wash that was destroyed then rebuilt with it's new name.) Also - the bus system does have several stops out west on Center street including OakView mall. Just sayin' -- Love the video!!
Totally aware of 1975. I wanted to reference my personal experience of having lived here for 32 years and yet to see one. I probably could have included that for more accuracy... For the bus system, while it does have route down to center street it is not as frequent. Talking with many who use the bus system talked about how it would take 2 plus hours to get where they wanted to go because of the infrequency of the routes. Thanks for the thoughtful input!!!
Hey poor boy James here... Again, what does this city really has to offer a poor guy like me? Can it possibly help me to better myself like no other city has ever done? Thanks
Up till and including the 2010 season the University of Nebraska at Omaha had a football team called the Mavericks. When the Mavericks played, did Omaha residents root for them as strongly as they do for the Cornhuskers?
are you serious? are there beers and steaks? if you give me a ticket to see a baseball game with beer, I'm going to Omaha right now I swear

In the summer it will get 120 degrees in the shade, and -20 in the winter. Bugs are erroneous in the summer. Tornadoes are common and earthquakes. So you costal people and fly overs just keep going . Tax’s, OMG you will be paying TAXs. Red state, so Go Big Red.

I have to ask this question because I may get an offer to move here. Are Gay people discriminated against here? In general, I’m pretty conservative but I am gay. LMK. “Omaha, somewhere in middle America.”
I don’t think I have ever seen anyone with a gun in public in Omaha, but I haven’t seen anyone need it. The most you’ll see is pepper spray and a whistle
Born and raised in Omaha, and lived there off and on 35 years my 50 years. It’s recently gone way too far to the progressive left for me. I had to leave.

You should be advertising in the Denver--Front Range area. Things are out of control here, prices are insane, values are diminishing, etc.

Norfolkan here. Omaha had a tornado in May of 1975. There was an earlier one in 1913.

I believe that's the year our junior high school Lewis and Clark got torn down. I set thru many tornadoes

Are there any bad parts of omaha? I heard there's a lil bit of gang violance..
yeah its dangerous and they might rape you especially if youre a guy
I just showed up here yesterday. I am from South Mississippi. Any thoughts? I haven't decided whether or not I want to stay though.
Welcome Joey! I would for sure get connected to a community of people... what are you into?
Give it time. Visit some of the lesser known things. Divulge in the history of that is your thing.

Mutual of Omaha's wild kingdom? (just kidding). How is the Tornado issue there?
Not as bad as you would think... I have never seen one and have been here my whole life...
don't forget the last major tornado was in 1975. only smaller ones since very few. now just snow storms
No mention of Maha as one of the larger, yearly events; one which brings out of towners in droves? Promoting tourism isn't your strong suit, eh? 😉
