Can we all agree that Matt Reeves is just a great and sympathetic human being? Not only did he gave us such a great film, but I could also listen to him for hours talking about Batman and film making because you can see that he has such a passion for both of those things. And on top he's actually really funny
Agreed, his intense attention to detail in his filmmaking and comic or movie influences always keep me hooked in every interview no matter what is the subject. He has more than delivered with The Batman and delivered my definitive interpretation of the character.

Matt Reeves: “Well, yes, but actually no.”
Good god we're all so fanatic about easter eggs, cameos, one movie leading into another etc. It's so fatiguing. The kid was just to show you what Bruce was processing on the inside. It worked so well.
Yeah marvel kinda ruined our expectations with regards to this types of movies. Everything should be connected instead of you know, maybe it just is a metaphor or thematic statement that the movie is saying? Can themes not be allowed in blockbusters anymore people?!!!
I saw it as both. Disappointed that it wasn't a Robin set-up but it doesn't take away from the movie for me.
@@TMSokoya Catwoman did namedrop Bludhaven at the end of the film, so it could set up Dick Grayson.
Yeah it’s pretty clear Bruce sees himself as the Mayors son, for him to be Robin is a huge change that most fans wouldn’t be happy with, your definitely need a teenage Dick Grayson for Robin to work in this universe as that’s comic accurate but also fits the realistic world more as supposed to him being a nine year old fighting crime
I don’t think the kid has a name yet. Grayson could be his mom’s maiden name

I mean comic book accurate robin is about 8-12. But I do agree he needs to be older if they bring him into this universe because most audiences wouldn’t be able to suspend their disbelief to a point where a kid that hasn’t even thought of puberty yet is out taking down crime bosses and rogues lol. In the comics it works, for these movies it definitely would not, he needs to be probably 13-15 for it to work here
@@dope8878 yeah but in this more noir realistic world that’s not gonna work, I meant comic accurate in the sense that it’s still Dick Grayson, not some original character like Nolan did, but he has to be older for people to buy it
Matt Reeves is an extraordinary filmmaker, his attention to detail and the way he talks about the filmmaking and influcnes behind his movies is never not fascinating to listen to. He absolutely more than delivered with The Batman and gave us the definitive and most comic book accurate live-action potrayal of the character.
I love when I watch a movie and then stuff with cast and directors and it’s fun, I hate when you watch stuff and you get weird vibes but Matt just seems a blast and the fact he’s like fanboying over a fans theory/idea is great, you can tell how much he loves and cares about this project
Spoilers: I love the way matt shoots down theories by saying “interesting” the same way the riddler says it when Batman and Gordon got it wrong

Always impressive how Kevin looks so hyped and enthusiastic doing interview for film he thinks were "good".
I mean, he liked and enjoyed the movie. I also think his love for filmmaking makes him so enthusiastic.
I love that when the van crashes into the funeral, Bruce goes straight to protect the kid, because the kid is him and all along, the only person he's looking to protect is himself.
When Batman looked at the Mayor's son, I know that Bruce Wayne felt like he looked at himself as a child again.
Comic book accurate Robin could totally work in this universe. It would be Batman solving Dick's parents circus murder and maybe enlist his help

It's simple this Gotham is more grounded and even the batman doesn't glide he uses wingsuit and parachute. So it's not possible for a Kid dressed up colourfully and fight grown men. Plus batman look kind'a lone warrior.
@@solis_rex_89 boys in their early teens already have higher strength and motor skills than adult women and catwoman is still a viable fighter, not to mention he'd have similar armor to batman.

I think personally imo that Batman doesn’t need a robin in upcoming sequels, I think he’s a better representation of that rage and sadness that the death of his parents caused if he’s alone

I feel like with the Gotham Reeves has created it kinda makes more sense for Jason to be the first Robin and not Dick. I'd love to see a hardened Jason brought up in this Gotham before being taken in by this Bruce. Won't happen for a few years since Bruce himself is still relatively young but that would be dope!

The kid has a parent still alive. Robin's gotta be a full orphan, but it's basically the same thing: Bruce sees his younger self, and sees himself failing to save the parents *again*, and sees it as his responsibility to make sure that kid doesn't slip through the cracks.
So yeah, basically, in order for the Mayor's kid to become Robin, someone's gonna have to kill his mom.

While the idea of making that kid a "Robin" is interesting, it would be too obvious, which is probably why one would think that.
But it's too on the nose and I think one becoming Robin would have to occur in some other way. - Besides, I feel that kid is a bit too young and they'd have to skip quite some years with any next movie to get there. I mean, I wouldn't already want to see an "oh, it's an older Batman now". Let Battinson just use his young self and keep the period around there, Bruce's 20s, 30s, whatever.
A Robin could still happen. In fact, I do want to finally see a new fleshed-out Robin, as the Nolan-arc kinda pussied out of that one. JGL could've been great, but they didn't go for it and practically only made it like an Easter Egg to tickle fans' balls and leave them blue. - And since we live in the world we currently do, just make Robin a girl, as in Carrie Kelley. Just do that, make her the unexpected character to be Robin and a character that within the fictional world nobody suspects. - She could be akin to Hit-Girl (the movie version), which is the bar they'd need to be around.
Based on how Matt talks about it at the start I think he fully has intentions on bringing in robin

Holy goodness that’s a good idea. How epic would a third The Batman be with this kid as Robin. He could be experimenting with being a vigilante as a teenager, inspired by The Batman of course. He could also be used as the target of an attack by the next villain. I could see that arc evolving like the one with Kate Bishop in the Hawkeye show did… With a reluctant Batman who hast to save this super enthusiastic but equally skilled a teenage renegade
No. It has to be Grayson. That name "Robin" is born because Dick's mom gave him that name. Its a personal name. It can't just be given out of nowhere.
