I think white is too passive here. Typically, when I try to employ the three star opening, the opponent does a double 3-3 invasion and then attaches to the center stone to erase my influence.
That is a great option for white, but I don't think lower dan and kyu white players can handle that sequence well. Just be solid everywhere and you should be fine. No need to pick fights or try to be aggressive in that kind of situation. By answering white's attachment, you will be able to solidify one side of the moyo and get some thickness toward the middle most of the times. Just try to surround those stones for influence/thickness
