21:09 I'm pretty sure you can hover over the dev cost modifier in each province to see if there are any that haven't been developed 3 times. If the province got exploited by you or Poland then it will have been improved -1 times
13:58 you could get -10% more devcost reduction simply doing mission the other way, accepting 4 cultures (decentralised reform could help, for example)
5:00 This happens because the AI does not calculate the strength of the overlord of the overlord. The Teutonic Order calculated that, alongside their allies, they can beat Poland and Mazovia.
Ahhh... Lithuania. My old mistress. Have you ever considered forgoing +1 diplo privelage, getting the cossaks privelage, selling estates and then completing the first mission that gets you claims on the Pontic? That way you can immediately declare war on Crimea on Dec. 11th provided they have no strong allies. And on top of that you're flush with cash for conquest.
Another thing you can do with Lithuania is fight novgorod first, swap to Novgorodian main culture, allows you to form Russia instead, a famously balanced Tag.
I do the opening moves for Lithuania a little different, always ally the Teutons and either Hungary or Bohemia (depending on Polish rivalries, a restart might be needed. But I usually just rival and insult them to get 2/3 of the aforementioned nations as an ally). Then fight a humiliation war against Novgorod for Show Strength first, curry favors with your allies and do the war against Poland a little later (usually around 1448/1449). Then declare on Livonian Order a month later and fully annex them (since Teutons won't join), then focus on Poland. Break alliance with Teutons (obviously) right after the war.
I also go for Decentralized Bureaucracy and accept Prussian and Crimean, this makes the mission reward for Enforce a Commonwealth -10% Development Cost which I synergize with Magdeburg Laws to spawn Colonialism. But I see the tax edict is a lot stronger than I thought.
Because admin dev is the weakest in the long run. The end of the 1st era is also the best time to burn it, especially if you have an edict for +50% taxes because you will get +50% money for it.
@@lookasetbella I'm glad I sometimes read comments. I didn't know local tax modifiers affected tax exploitation. But I guess I can't know everything with my mere 1930 hours xD
Less than 1 minute into the video the dude hits the introduce heir button... I don't think I've ever seen that pressed let alone when your ruler is 16.... Anyone know why he didn't just wait for one normally?
@lookasetbella I love the part when you said something about it only being 4 years till you abdicate and actually get that ruler then realising off screen you can't abdicate untill 20 years or rule so the heir was like 34 when you were actually able abdicate. If you couldn't get a decent heir in that time without hitting the nasty make heir button I would be surprised. The video itself was very interesting though. That 300 dev increase from hitting dev buttons was very satisfying. All around good video, sorry for the snarky comment after only watching 40 seconds of it 😛
Hei Lucas, could you play either as Poland, Burgund or a Dutch culture vasal and form both the Netherlands and Commonwealth. I tried myself but i get nö luck or do something stupid and die.
I actually saw the title, didn't click the video but decided to start my own Lit playthrough to see what gives. The Ottomans now know how it feels like to be abused as a child.
The best tall nation in eastern Europe is start as Bohemia, culture convert all that farmland to Saxon. Swap to Brandenburg/Prussia and use your early strength to gobble up Poland/Lithuania and dev the living shit up everywhere after dirt cheap culture flip
As someone that never played EU4, this entire video sounded like Math to me, since I clicked on it cus the title had “newbies” in it. but I am still interested in the game I guess
There is a lot of explaining in this video, there are a lot of things that need to be made easier to understand ua-cam.com/video/aHCf8TXbFu4/v-deo.html
Get the highest possible cav combat ability. Start as great horde, take horde ideas, conquer zaporozhie from lithuania, release and play zaporozhie, get sich rada, take aristocratic ideas and quality ideas, conquer poland, conquer pomerania, form pomerania and do 10% cav combat ability mission, form poland and take the narional ideas and get espionage to combine with horde ideas and get cav combat ability policy.
@@lookasetbella Alright then. As long as youre having fun. But the difference from hard is very noticible. Hard is my go too, as very hard seems very punitive and yeah ... on normal everything basically fall in line for a player.
Not sure why this guy did it, but It's super useful . Makes swapping cultures easier, reduces governing Cost and gives you ducets(you should only exploit adm)
Tall Lithuania is an absolute beast. The amount of farmland is absolutely insane
But the trade is very bad tho
playing tall (conquer all eastern europe)

anything super good in the lithuanian mission tree before forming LPC?
@@rimreld Yes there are two very good ones, I talk about both of them in the video.
Tip for riga vassal is having 3 stability before releasing them since the ai can be kinda stupid and not stab up for the mission
And make them a march and give them one or two inland province so they can build armies faster. :)

Might as well start as them if Russia is what you want to play as.

Why is tax development often exploited? It looks like the opposite of what I would do.
Because admin dev is the weakest in the long run. The end of the 1st era is also the best time to burn it, especially if you have an edict for +50% taxes because you will get +50% money for it.
