One of the biggest plot twists and l think it’s because you would never think any thing of it. Until the moment pheonix said hmmm it’s full bright. I think I remember reading that the writers would write the plot twists before the cases and that explains a lot
I sort of got spoiled cuz I knew that “Fulbright was the culprit” so When case 4 ended I was like “oh he just make Athena suspicious he isn’t actually the culprit” and went into case 5 not sus of him and then when they did sus him I was like oh so he is the culprit then boom he is the phantom
I actually think the twist would have been better if the phantom was just Detective Fullbright and not some phantom pretending to be Detective Fullbright. And while I understand that there is a certain creepy factor to the phantom that you couldn’t really get if it was just straight up Fullbright, I think it would have been more personal if this person was just Fullbright and betrayed your trust after all of this time pretending to care about Simon Blackquill. I actually rolled my eyes when they reveled the real Detective Fullbright was dead because it felt like a really weird twist when it would have been more dramatic if it was just straight up Fullbright.
I disagree. To me this twist was a nice break from the MANY people in law that have committed a crime (up to and including Apollo Justice Ace Attorney, Spirit of Justice and Ace Attorney Investigations 1 and 2.
I mean it basically was. The real fullbright died before the events of the game, so the detective we knew this whole time who pretended to care, who helped us investigate, was the phantom Edit: nvmnd it seems I misunderstood the game and now Im upset because I had inadvertently headcanonned a better ending :(
(Spoilers) Hot take: the twist would have been 500 times better if they had just stuck with Fulbright being the Phantom instead of some weird impostor with no character development.
Never quite got the interest the fandom had for him. I didn't hate him or anything, but with how energetic he was, he wore off his welcome pretty fast for me. He worked as a nice opposite to Blackquil, but that's about it. And while I enjoyed the twist, he felt like one of the worst villains the series had overall. Thematic, but too abstract, too impersonal.
Honestly, Instead of the phantom replacing fulbright, fulbright himself should have just straight up been the phantom. It still wouldn't have been great imo, but the betrayal of trust would have at least given him something. As it stands, the phantom just sucks.
I haven’t played this game yet, and seeing the comments something might’ve happened to him, and I don’t know how insensitive this is, but **places Maya**
My body start shivering when Edgeworth says that detective fullbright was found dead a years ago.. 😢😢

I agree, Fullbright being murderous while stile maintaining his normal attitude would be amazing
