I did the same install, so you don't actually have to take the full bumper off. Just open the clips and screws on the top and the one's in the fender area and just pull the bumper out and let it sit on the ground. Then you will see the bolts for the lights, open them and just slide the light out.

abdias fenton The noise comes from the resistors. They help keep any errors from showing on your dash. That is normal and nothing to be alarmed about. Be aware that they also get a little warm.
If you touch them with your bare hands they will have a shorter life span, and since these light bulbs are brighter then OEM the life span is shorter also. So it depends on how you take care of your light bulbs. But in most cases no they do not.

The wiring harness should be all bundled up and held on by tape. Just remove the tape so the wires would have more slack.

yes HID's can get really hot so that is why it is not recommend to use them
