    Apologies for the bad sound mixing as this is my first time. Hoping to make more videos in the weeks to come! Let me know if there's anything in particular you would want to see :)

    Nice & helpful video! My son will be a CoE freshman this fall. Do freshmen move in earlier than the rest or at the same time? Also do you suggest us attending the SOAR earlier as there are 3 dates in the summer? Thx!

      Hi Sherrie!
      Excited for your son to be at UW! All housing students (freshman or not) move in during a weeklong period in late August (If you get a job with housing/dining you may move in a week early for training). The specific time and date is sent to you closer to mid-August, while your roommate/room assignment is sent earlier in the summer. You also have flexibility to request a better day/time that works for you. I have a move-in vlog on my channel that shows what the process is like if you are interested!
      As for SOAR Dates, my advice would be to pick the best time that works for you and your schedule! A common thing with SOAR is that some classes tend to fill up on a first-come-first-serve basis, so you may miss out on enrolling in a certain class if it's already full by the time you have SOAR. BUT! For a lot of core classes (like math and intro science) they often open up more sections throughout the summer to accommodate for these numbers. As you can see, I took my SOAR in August and had a little bit of trouble enrolling in some full classes, but ended up enrolling into all the classes I needed for the first semester.
      Hope this helps!

      @@carolsculvers Yes, it’s very helpful and thanks a lot! I’d also really appreciate it if you could lmk the rough dates of SOAR in June, July and August from last year as they haven’t released this year’s dates yet. We’re on the east coast so it’d greatly help our planning. Thx again! Wish we were 2 hrs away like you :)

    Just a question. Is the SOAR orientation always after the move in dates?

      Hi there!
      SOAR is before move-in! SOAR happens during given weeks in June, July, and August. For example, I had mine for the 2 days during the first week in August. As for move-in, you are typically given your time in advance, and move-in week occurs the last week of August! If you are looking for specific dates, I would recommend going to the SOAR website. Hope this clears things up!

    Hey! Just curious, but do parents always come to SOAR with students? Thanks!

      @carolsculvers  Рік тому +1

      Hi Lily! Only students are required to attend SOAR. Parents are welcome to attend for a small fee (there is a parent info session as part of SOAR), and oftentimes it's nice to have a familiar face with you in a new place! Hope this answers your question.
