Great idea!! A small safety tip.....you may choose to wear rubber gloves to keep out pieces getting into your hands and safety glasses to protect your eyes 😊👍🏻
Oh my G...and I was going to just... Give them away...the glass bulbs. THANKYOU....LOVE that idea. My husbands going to think I lost it when I start the smashing:)))))
This is awesome. the sparkle is so much more intense and what a great way to be able to salvage/upcycle those heartbreaking accidental ornament breaks. Thanks for sharing!
Thx for the video I was wounding how you get the glass where you don’t cut ur fingers. I wanted to do this yrs ago but thought ( and other ppl told me) I’ll get splinter of glass in my fingers witch I’ve always gotten at Xmas time with broken bulbs. Thank you for the video.
I was working on embellished christmas trees 2 mths ago and crushed a few silver glass ornaments to bring more dazzle to my project and it was awsome. You need to be very careful handling this but it looks beautiful on a finished project.
It does look so pretty! It’s been what three years now and these boxes I made here still shine :). Yes, one must be very carefully I was lucky this time. :) I would love to see what you made. Have a wonderful new year!
Really pretty! I hope you check and make sure you are not breaking "shiny bright" ornaments. I might try this as I have a few broken ornaments that I love the color. They broke and I didn't have the heart to toss them so I still have them in a jar. Now to find one of those mashers!!! =D Janet
I did this years ago for a little birdhouse, but I ground it up finer. The dollar store, BTW, carries only plastic balls. Now Michaels carries only plastic balls too.
Thanks for the video. I will try this, glass glitter is very expensive! Also, I would not have thought of using ornaments, what a great idea - thin and flexible. Great video.
Awesome awesome idea to make glass glitter. what of the best tops I've seen in a long time. I'm soo upset I got rid of my bulbs. I'm checking goodwill. I want some different colors other then the typical red etc. also excellent idea on how to take the paint off the bulbs.
Well done video and I'm learning so much since I'm a newbie to creating instructional art videos! I love glitter on EVERYTHING actually......that and polka dots......hehe
Is there any way to seal the glass after adding it to a project, so that it won't cut anyone? I love the look, and I'm not sure how truthful this is, but the glass glitter companies claim that theirs won't cut you...So I'm curious if it's just about the grain used, a particular sealant (like mod podge), or if it's the type of glass used, their process, etc.
Ashley Six I am not sure about glass company claims or how that works. I had my hands all in it and have rubbed my fingers over the completed piece and did not get cut. Of course be careful when you make yours. I do think a glaze or finish over the completed project will help possibly from causing harm. I did use a finish in mine and still looked great and no reports of harm. I would just try one out so you can see how you feel about it afterwards. Let me know if you need anything else and I would love to see what you come up with :)
No you should be ok. You could wear gloves. I didn’t but you can d that wild make you feel more comfortable. Thank you for watching! It’s fun to make enjoy:)

Great...but can you tell me how I can get mirrored pieces. I've searching UA-cam this morning for a DIY that shows a crushed glass tutorial...your is the easiest, as well as the best online. However, I want some mirrored pieces to stand out on top of the crushed glass. Moreover, I need instructions to make mirrored glass. Help me out, please.

You took off the blue eeeeeee
Thank you! So no cutting fingers when you touch it?
Thank You! No I didn’t but gloves would help keep ya safe. I did not get any cuts or anything. :)
Can the ornaments be the shatterproof kind? I'm not sure how "shatterproof" the ornaments are. Lol
I think so! You will probably just need to crush it a little longer. Give it a try :)
do you not use gloves ? ;)
You should wear gloves or your hands will hurt
I was lucky this time :)
that is so disgusting these eating noises would you starve in the few minutes where you record the sound of the video
leaim twinni interesting comment. Thanks for watching. Have a good night.
