I love the early game show pilots where pretend like the game's been on the air forever, there's already a "champion" (who by the way really reminds me of the Mad TV character that Mo Collins played that was always clearing her throat and making weird noises)... can I assume this was partially rigged and they didn't get the $25k, that they were fed the answers to make the pilot more exciting?
That’s indeed how pilots typically go. They’re meant to showcase to potential buyers (networks or stations) how a typical episode of the show would go. And since they want to showcase exciting moments, they’ll rig or re-shoot the bonus round to produce a win. Thus, the contestants on pilots are actors, and receive actors’ scale pay, and don’t earn anything “won” on the show.
