Hello my name is Bruce Hernandez I have a question about a 2012 peterbilt 587 how many cables os the starter how many on the positive and how many on the negative
Does that plug go to the compresser? New guys replaced my starter and pdm.they didnt plug my pdm and parked my truck with all these alarms on my dash.had lead shop plug them in and everything went away.started my trip and noticed my ac was not working. They're not familiar with freightliner.

Disculpa Francisco una pregunta, puse el started ayer, las conecciones del negativo se que están bien,,,pero junto con los cables negativos hay un cable extra,no lo conecté, ahora mis voltios marcan 14.8 y si apago el camión no power en las luces interiores,tampoco el refrigerador,,no se si conectar ese cable extra,junto al positivo el rojo grueso,,,09 cascadia started original
Hi Francisco thanks for the videos you post. I changed my starter thanks to this video myself but I wasn’t able to tighten the 3rd nut that holds the starter in place the one behind the starter you mentioned you are going to tighten first in this video because it’s very hard. Any advise on how or what tools you used ?
18 mm with 3/8 drive extensions is the best way, if you have a electric impact gun to tight it will be better.
Just calculate the space between the impact gun and the extension.

Excelente video mi hermano. Con este tutorial pudimos con mi jefe reemplazar el starter para un freightliner m2. Ahora, situacion que me preocupa es que el camion no quiere encender. Viendo el video dos veces seguidas observo que hay un plug por debajo del negativo lo cual yo no recuerdo haber removido o instalado. Dos preguntas: cuantos cables positivos y negativos va en cada perno? Y que manera para nosotros troubleshoot el trabajo que hicimos? Muchas gracias...

Ok ? Francisco where on the ignition switch does the wire from the solenoid go. I have no power to the cylanoid, but I can start it from the starter it self. I have replaced clutch switch, ignition switch and tumbler, I have also replaced battery switch and nothing seems be be working. ☹️

I have a impact gun rated over 1,000 pounds of torque.
Can’t get the 3 nuts off the mount plus the positive terminal to save my life.
Any suggestions?
Justin Ficarra lefty loosely righty tightly. & if ur using an impact don’t use any extensions if possible. They eat up a lot of torque.
Thank you for this video. Can bad starter cause low voltage? Also 12.5 v good reading for 2015 flc with dd15?
12.5 IS a good reading for the batteries in your truck, BUT you should put a battery Tester on each battery (with batteries out of truck and not connected together). I have seen good readings on a battery tester but the cold cranking AMPS are what make these batteries fail. A good tester will let you know if your battery is about to fail because of low cranking amps left in each battery.
Also, a bad starter WILL NOT cause low battery. Unless you are trying to start a truck for several minutes and it won't start, thereby DRAINING your batteries too low to start.
Your batteries need to be above 12.4. So, a good battery will be between 12.4 and 12.6 with engine off. A good alternative will push the charging amps passed 14.0 with Engine running. Between 14.0 and 14.5 is a good alternator.
Are you supposed to stick the extended wrench back there blindly to get the third bolt off because I can't even see it it's so tight?
Yes, you have to do it by using extensions with a socket

Hey Francisco, I’m having starting issues now the ignition gets power but does not send power to starter, I have tried all your bypass techniques. The only one that worked was jumping Starter directly. I have replaced clutch switch still nothing, so I tried the paper clip thing nothing, now have purchased new ignition crossing fingers. Can you lead me in the proper direction please.
First, verify if the power is getting to the starter solenoid when you try to start the engine. let me know the results

Hey Francisco, I have a question. I was able to replace the starter and the clutch switch. My truck still won't start. There is power but won't turn over. I've checked the wires and all the connections. Any suggestions on why it still won't start?
Probably the sam cab is failing

It was what you said. I had to put it in the shop and the SAM CAB was bad. I just put a push start on my starter because I keep reading bad things about replacing the SAM CAB. I don't want to trade in one problem for another. Again thx for your help.
When ever the starter goes bad on the dd15 engine what code does it show on the dash
No code, the starter is still a mechanical piece after all.

Maybe the clutch switch
on the clutch pedal there’s a sensor, buy NEW original it’s $60

Quick question I just replaced my clutch and after I replaced the master and slave cylinder now my clutch pedal feels off.. I get like 3 inch or 4 inch of free play before the clutch engage..is that normal with a new clutch?
Did you bleed the hydraulic clutch after?
xxpr0nag3xx yeah I bleed it but I'm still not getting the resistance like I should.. I seen something about pressure bleeding to 15 psi...
Check the clutch fluid level.
There is air in the system for sure. yeah you can pressure bleed or vacuum bleed.
Francisco Amaya yesterday I remove the cap off the master cylinder and press the clutch pedal a few times and I'm getting more pressure & resistance now thanks.. gonna bleed it 1 more time..

No, I did not. I just turned the wheels all the way to the left. It will be easier if you get something to get the clearance underneath the higher. Like something to put under the wheels.

Good video except you don't show what tools you used to take out the starter nuts. I know that the nut in the back is usually a bear to get to and take off. It would have been nice to see that on video.
It is 18 mm 3/8 drive socket with 3/8 extension long enough to introduce a 3/8 impact gun.
When you were removing that bithy nut, were you under truck or above?
I got it from the top now.
Depending.
If you have a cascadia evo, you can do it for the top and under the truck.
If you have the older cascadia, you can only remove it from under the truck.
