  • Full HD Video of a flight from the Beach out to the old Ship wreck. The Wreck is a 1894 Vessel the SS Vina. She was original as coast hugging cargo ship. Once take out of service she was bought by the RAF in 1940. She was taken out of blockship service and towed up the east coast towards Brancaster where she was used as a target for the RAF before the planned invasion of Normandy in 1944. She sadly broke free from her anchor and run aground on the 20th August 1944.
PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT TO WALK FROM THE BEACH TO THE WRECK AS IT IS BEHIND A FAST MOVING TIDAL RIVER THAT 10 FEET ACROSS AND 1 FOOT DEEP 1 MIN, AND 40 FEET ACROSS AND 10 FEET DEEP 30 MINS LATER.

Great archive and historical record now as Vina has all but disappeared beneath the fast encroaching sands spreading westward from Scolt Head island, only the top of the warning mast is now visible.

Ow such a shame. Well hopefully the vid will keep it going for years to come.

@@NorfolkMancave A storm coming in from the North or North West could uncover her again one day. That area of coast, between Hunstanton and along to Wells and beyond is constantly seeing beach features being covered and exposed, its quite a cycle. So Vina may not be lost forever, though it would need to be an exceptionally ferocious storm. And, post-storm, that coverage would begin all over again. So this film is a wonderful and lasting legacy to a landmark that both attracted and beguiled (and, sadly, led to loss of life) for over 80 years.

Read up on this after seeing the vid, safest way to view it is on your video not by foot 👍probably why there is so much of it left 🤔

Yeah i walked out to it once in the 90s and got caught out there by incoming tide lol.. Luckly i managed to get back ok without bothering coastguard or getting hurt. Would never try it again i must say.

Get shovelling before the tide turns.

You can see why it’s dangerous to walk there...tide channel first cuts you off then rises rapidly
