This is such a spot on review. My trusty old "drip" machine died on me. Since I am the only person who drinks coffee I started to research into single serving machines. I liked the idea that the Keurig had a refillable cup vs the Nespresso, however after trying the Keurig coffee against the Nespresso, the Nespresso is hands down a better cup of coffee than the Keurig! Thanks to youtube, I have also been able to find a way to re-fill the old Nespresso pods as well.

There are also refillable nespresso pods. Regarding the single use pods, nespresso made pods are made from aluminium and fully recyclable :)

Yep. Can’t beat the centrifuge style extraction of coffee by the Nespresso machines. I have two Breville machines and just got a DeLonghi Virtuo Plus for the cottage. The best part is you can refill the aluminum pods and make your own custom coffee creations. Thank goodness for UA-cam and Amazon! Great review! Thanks.

Hi. I realize this video is 3 years old at the time of me writing this comment. I came to purposely find this particular video as its your first time trying Nespresso. I was laughing so hard at your first expression! I received my machine for Christmas and I had family in town. I let my adult son try it first and I swear I could visually see his mind blown. I actually thought his was joking when he said " this is the best bleeping cup of coffee he has ever had!" as we all sat around drinking this amazing coffee, we thought we had all been made fools by the Keurig! Needless to say the $1 pod is so worth it. It is an experience every time you brew a cup! Thanks for all the videos over the years!

I went from a Keurig to a Starbucks Verismo machine and was blown away by the difference. They recently discontinued the pods for that machine and I bought the Nespresso Vertuo Plus. Wow! Blown away even more. Love it

I have both and I totally agree. I start my day with a Nespresso and, later, for a mid morning or noon pick-me-up, have a Keurig.
Both are totally different. After my trip to Switzerland, I told my wife of my experience with Nespresso. She got me a Keurig for Christmas. I could not say “no” for her trying but she isn’t a coffee addict like me. She finally got me a new Verturo for my birthday and I am in heaven. It was too late to take the Keurig back for return but it is fine for less flavorful standard American coffee.

I agree 100%. I have had 3 Keurig machines and just bought my first Nespresso and am blown away by the difference. The cost difference is noticeable, but it is an amazing cup of coffee.

I have a regular drip coffee maker and my Nespresso. So if I’m in a hurry or whatever I can make a pot of coffee.
The Nespresso I use when I want to sit down and really enjoy and think about my coffee. If that makes sense?

ipon70 I bought the DeLonghi Bundle package at Target for my office. It was on sale for $219. A week later i was at Macys and saw they had them both on sale even cheaper $199, so I couldn’t resist and bought another to keep at home! The wife loves it! So far no issues with either of them. Subscribed 👍🏼
In this video he said that some people have leak issue with breville machine! Since you have both machines, have you experience any issue with breville yet? To be honest I like the breville brand better! I don’t know how I feel about Delonghi!

We have both Nespresso and Keurig machines, and I agree taste is better with Nespresso, although I purchased the other Nespresso machine made by Breville, and had leaks within two months, exchanged the machine, same manufacturer and it also leaked within two months. Not satisfied with reliability, hopefully when repaired will last?
Ed Duck yeah their quality control is not very good on some of the machines. Keep on them as they leak to handle it. Thanks for the comment.
I've got that same sensation, I used to make my coffee on the french press, and I thought that it was really good, then I bought my nespresso and used it for a couple weeks, then I made one french press coffee and it tasted terrible!

Jill Holzapfel no issues at all with the machine. The milk foamer is used just about every morning and we really enjoy it. Side note it works best with whole milk. Enjoy!!

Where was the de-scaling part to start and when did you push the button to fill the cup with the thermometer?
They don’t run a descaling at start just a “flush” if you will. I don’t show everything, and I honestly don’t remember on this it’s been to many years. Thanks for the question.
Great comparison..I concur. The coffee is way better than Keurig.. I was trying to hold off until morning to try out my new machine, but had to go directly to the kitchen and make a cup after watching.. Fantastic coffee..

You can get this same machine without the frother for under $130 at Amazon. I just purchased one in the Cherry Red color and can say it does make a great cup of coffee. I have been using Keurig and the AeroPress and this is by far superior. If I want to froth milk I can do it on my own and did not need to make that investment. I just wanted to try the machine and am very happy. Now I have to decide which coffee pods to buy. I will still use Keurig, Fresh Press and AeroPress but this Nespresso will mostly like get used the most for making a quick cup.

Quality costs money, as goes the expression quality NOT quantity. Keurig is common, low quality mediocre trash for likewise people. Nespresso has dedicated everything to the finest quality coffee and equipment, and if you did any research at all you’d find out what all goes into those pods and technology to get you the best quality, flavour and substance. The centrifuge technology they have going on is beyond brilliant and each capsule having its own individual barcode that the machine reads so it knows how to properly brew it. Moral of the story is if you’re a common/average person with less than a desire or a palate for premium coffee, and the machine and its cost is an issue this is not for you.
+Ryan Hawn well said. I literally went into Best Buy one day and purchased this unit. The video you see is me actually experiencing Nespresso (with an S, lol) the first time size by side with the Keurig. So yes the technology built into the machine to create the BAR pressure, the barcode system to spins and create a unique cup with each pod is amazing. Quality does cost money, and we enjoy spending that money every single time we stop into the Nespresso boutique and enjoy a cup before purchasing more sleeves. Thanks for the comments.
agree don't know why people don't seem to see.. Keurig is just cheap filter coffee and the other is quality espresso.. have always seen the name Keurig all over UA-cam, don't see the appeal and I've never seen anyone here in the UK using one of them.. just use a cafetière for that and have an espresso machine/ moka pot on the kitchen top instead :)

I’ve had many machines from ground to bean. Nespresso by far is my favourite and with the machine for £1 and a monthly no hassle subscription you can’t beat it. Keep it simple Nespresso, don’t fiddle too much with flavours already successful. If it ain’t broke don’t fix, and that’s where Nespresso are at now 👍

Does this machine make Iced drinks, like iced coffee and ice latte? or is it just for hot beverages?
Hello and welcome!! It does make iced coffees as you can see in my other reviews. Although it does come out hot but is meant to go right into ice and make it into an ice coffee. Check out my review of “Ice Leggero” it will give you a good idea. Thanks for the question.
In the U.S people underestimate a good foamy coffee. In Europe, if there's no foam, I consider it to be tea.

That was a great taste test. You can the coffee capsules from Angelinos coffee as the sell the capsules for both of the machines. Also the Nepresso Capsules are available from William Sonoma.
Really that good? I LOVE coffee and I used the capitals for a reason. Normally I use a drip brewer for the cheapness and a French press when I want to have a good cup of coffee. Might have to save up a little to get a Nepresso.
Nice job on the video and taste testing. By now you probably know this, but it’s pronounced Ness-Presso. You may not be aware of this, but Nespresso only buys the very best coffee beans from around the world. I’ve heard that it’s the top 1-2% best coffee beans every year and they only buy the best so that we get the most flavor possible from every pod. I also have a Keurig 2.0 machine and even when it’s set to bold, it still can’t compete with the Nespresso Virtuoplus machine’s output for flavor and intensity. Also the pods are recyclable aluminum so they can be returned to the vendor to be melted down and reused in future pods. Thanks again for the video and information.

How do you measure the temperature without making a coffee? I just made three coffees and all three were very lukewarm. I have the same exact machine! I was trying to warm the cup first but didn’t know how to do it!
Well you got the Vertuo Plus. That works differently than the Original Nespresso Line machines. It spins the pod while water gets pumped through to extract the coffee. The Original Line ones work by pushing the water with pressure through the pod, and that's what the Keurig does with their machines too, and also that's why it's faster, because of the different way of extraction.
Bluedogs Startuzuy 100% correct one thing to note is that the Keurig doesn’t really build any appreciable pressure where the others do 9 bars of pressure. Thank you for the comment.
New subscriber here. I've been binge watching all of your videos this week. I'm about to purchase my first Nespresso machine and I'm torn between the Vertuo and VertuoPlus. Do you have any experience with the original model? I'm curious if there are any noticeable differences between brews or if it's all just down to preference on water/capsule storage and manual/electronic lid.

I haven’t really played much with the older mechanical one. They should vary to much between old and new on taste, I just like the automatic way the plus works. I don’t think you can go wrong either way, and this week you should see some good sales so grab whatever one seems best to you. Personally I love the plus. . Hope that helps.

Brennan Kauffman oh man enjoy your new machine. I am a LOVER of the French press, i would say in a lot of ways it’s close. Keep in mind it isn’t going to be as robust if your using a lighter coffee. With that said “Stormio” is a great dark, rich coffee, and one that compares very week to French press. Thanks for comments and enjoy your new machine!!

Lol. I love that you were so blown away by the difference in taste that you had no words. I have a Keurig, which I never use because I find the coffee too acidic. I just ordered the Nespresso Pixie, but after watching your review; I'm thinking I might get the Vertuo Plus instead.
Anj L yeah it was honestly unbelievable the difference. Acidic is a great word and as time has gone on, i also now notice the Keurig lacks body also. Enjoy whichever machine you get, but i would highly recommend the Vertuo.

Picked one up today with the milk frother at costco for $140
Just bought mine on sale for $128 CAN and ordered directly from Nespresso. 50 various coffee and 20 espresso (10 per sleeve and trying 2 kinds) cost $78 plus $6.95 delivery. Expensive yes but I've already finished the 12 sampler that came with the machine. I have both Kuerig for home and Tassimo at office. This Nespresso beats them both like a redheaded stepchild. Hopefully like Kuerig and Tassimo the price per pod comes down as they get more popular as those videos about reusing pods are too time consuming and likely won't produce similar tastes.
Theodore Merasty i am so happy you enjoy yours as much as we enjoy ours. The price per pod will change when their patent and stuff runs out, and the mass market can produce them cheaper. But with that will also go a lot of the quality. Nespresso’s quality is because they source amazing quality beans,, and control every aspect of the production. Once you have joe blow making pods, well you get joe blow taste and quality. Enjoy and keep your cup full.
Someone may have told you this, but spring water is HARD water, and it will destroy your brewer.
You should be using tap water, unless you are on a well (spring water again) in which case you might want to get a solid carbon and ceramic filter for under your sink, with a spout to filter the particles out. Anyway, I've gone through many machines over the last 12 years, and it wasn't until someone saw me pouring spring water into my machine and told me. Look it up, it's a thing.
Plus there are small particles of plastic in the bottled water that will melt to the inside of the boiler in the machine and deteriorate the performance of the unit, until it fails. 🤷♂️
Hello and welcome to the channel. Yeah mineral here and hard water is a thing all over. Almost everywhere I have lived had it. I use Costco or Sams Club “purified water” and seems to work really well. Normally unlike this video I just buy the 6 pack gallon ones. The Keurig you see in the video and see still in my videos is almost 7 years old right now. So yeah good advice and thanks again for being here.

I really enjoyed this review. I don't like flavored coffee either and 8 have no respect for people who review a machine based on a flavored pod...great job! loved the side by side comparison to Keurig. Hopefully this review will raise the standards of a few American coffee drinkers.

how about the cost comparisson per brew, which one is more expensive?
By far nespresso. You can find Keurig for about $0.35-0.50 per brew where as Nespresso will be at least $1.10 per cup.
@@ipon70 I swear to God I will spend $1 for a very good coffee. Tasting coffee is like instant like or dislike. First time I tasted coffee made by Nespresso, the smell and taste were amazing. and I also remember when I tasted coffee brewed frm Keurig when this machine was just started, it was so bad.
I do already have a vertuo line since 2 years now .. i used to buy the van houte dark roast at cosco ... and between van houte and kirkland brand i prefered van houte way better .,. kirkland taste like water.. but when i met vertuo line .. my life has change .. so when i saw him comparing vertuo to kirkland .. i was laughing so hard .. like .. man, you don't even know whats coming ! ... How many sizes it makes ? Three or five ? Does it make double espresso?
Sukhmeet Dhillon so that is a loaded question kind of. The machine reads a barcode and sets itself up to be an espresso, double espresso, gran lungo, regular cup, or xl. So it’s does a variety of pours, or you can always hold the button and change anything into how much you want. How that helps.

The one you see in the video broke pretty quickly, but the next one lasted for probably right at two years or so, but Nespresso replaced it for free when it broke.

Hi the Nespresso has been on sale at target and Macys! I bought one too the same as yours and loving it ! With discount and giftcard and target card i paid about 93.00 for the same exact machine !! Almost a steal
Check online you may grab another machine at a great buy !

I enjoyed watching your vid. I’m a avid coffee drinker as you are. Taste is what matters to me. I have the Nespresso VertuoLine. The quality of of coffee and espresso is of quality, so hopefully by now you have had a opportunity to try the espresso if not please don’t wait. The nice thing about ordering new pods is that they come quickly. I normally get my order within a two or three day time period. Anyway hope you are enjoying your Nespresso.
+Sheila Maxwell i am enjoying the machine a lot. We have an awesome Nespresso boutique here in Scottsdale Arizona. The people there are great and we always have a great tasting of whatever is the newest flavor they have created. I am thinking about doing another video for the coffee itself and taste, but just haven’t had time. As always thanks for the comments!! And keep enjoying a great cup coffee.
I just bought vertuo last week and loved it. This is my 4th coffee machines from many brands for over the last 7 years...and yes, vertuo nespresso is the best so far

@@ipon70 I have spoken with nespresso, both via the chat function on their site, and via email, I told them how it was because of your videos, that i finally purchessed my vertu plus machine, and that your many videos do them a great service, They said to say thank you to you, and that they would lookat you chanel thamselves.
@@ipon70 The person i was chatting with was really interested, i told them all about your reviews and unboxings, and that you review both vertuo and original lines. Also that you read and responded to all your comments quickly, and that the service you provided was the same gold standard that nespresso users got from nespresso themselves.. I do hope it helped.

ipon70 ordering the vertuoplus today to replace a keurig and a gaggia brerra espresso machine. Any tips and tricks or favorite capsule flavors? I’ll mostly be using the gran lungo, coffee and alto xl pod sizes. Many thanks.
@@MBroadus I love as I have mentioned in some of the reviews the "Intenso" pods. They have a great strong coffee flavor without being bitter. Another one that is my favorite is the Austrailian Summer Flat White, that is an amazing espresso for a cold coffee. I love the seaonal one right now, Pumpkin Spice Cake, which surprised me becuase I don't like Pumpkin. Stormio is another good one. And then if they ever bring it back, Paris Black is another great espresso. Make sure you like and sub, I will continue to bring you all the latests coffees. Thanks again for the comments.
ipon70 thanks...picked up the Vertuo bundle yesterday and several pods (pumpkin spice, hazelnut, intenso, Mexican, and melozio) at the local Nespresso store.
