I’m an Iowa fan and this is one time I can agree with you. Yes, the Big Ten schools will benefit hugely financially, but for college football as a whole it is bad. You are so right about this being all about money. College football will be separated between the haves and have nots. Not only will there be a lesser chance of schools outside the Big Ten and SEC competing with schools from those two conferences, but long time rivalries will be lost.
Excellent, excellent video. It used to be illegal to monopolize because it destroyed small business which is essential for an economy to flourish and the people to survive. This mirrors that. There's hardly any regulations on this and if they limit transferring and a player signs a four year contract, doesn't start and decides to sue the coach and school, how is that beneficial for the sport?
Thank you! You'd think someone would do something, but there's been little attempt at anything at all by either the NCAA (no power) or Feds (don't care).
I think they are well on the way to turning college football into some kind of a minor league for the NFL and other professional leagues. It would really be interesting to know for sure what some of these players are getting paid in nil money. In some cases it could be way more than what they would make playing professional football in any League because they may not be good enough to make those leagues. Especially the NFL. What I hate to see is a bunch of kids chasing money and after years in the college system and an opportunity to get a very good education they end up with nothing to show for what they were given.
I haven't been paying attention...but wow! Let's be honest, the sec has been operating like an NFL farm team for years and this is the other conferences just equalizing things which is why Saban was whining. I disagree with this being a bad thing, it's just a natural progression of sports entertainment. The David vs Goliath gets to play out when they adopt the playoff system where a Boise state gets its shot at a big. It was time cause everyone was sick of the sec starting every year with a huge advantage and anything that Bama hates...I love. 😅 Great info and reaction...and get that hair cut john 😂
At some point, the " have nots" (Those not in SEC and BIG )will join together and exert political pressure against the two conferences to reestablish an equal playing field for every university. The majority of fans are against the current direction, and I would think would have widespread appeal in many many states.

In terms of money and alums in Cali and recruiting I agree this is a win for Nebraska. “Calabraska” is back😂 but yeah my biggest takeaway from this news yesterday was that college sports is officially dead as we once knew it. It started to die with Texas wanting their own tv rights when we left the Big 12 but after yesterday it’s officially dead. Schools like Okie State, Miami, clemson, Oregon, Florida State can still find their way into these super conferences one way or another but a school like Kansas State has probably very little shot or what if the Big Ten looks around and says we could take in Clemson, Oregon, Stanford and Miami and sorry Maryland you’re now out. Not to mention how in the current set up how much travel the non football sports will have to do in these coast to coast conferences. I personally came away from all of this yesterday less excited for college sports and college football than I ever have been because what college football built itself on to become the giant it is that’s all dead and gone now. The only true winners of all of this are the historic Big Ten and SEC schools that are going to get all the money and still get to play the teams they historically have always played and their fan bases care the most about
Most Buckeye fans are stoked ! - Some 25000 alum in LA not counting the rest of the state + NV AZ alum willing to travel ? - A lot of happiness in Buckeye Nation ! -- Maybe a bit selfish but it is the law of the jungle & we can't change it ? - Instead of 130 there may end up 50 - 60 at most ?
Jon here is another way to look at it. The SEC hung the Gonads of the Herd Bulls of the Big 12 on their rearview mirror and now the Big 10 just hung the Gonads of the Herd Bulls of the Pac 12 on their rearview mirror. Neither of these two Herds will survive as we know it today. Either the Big 12 will be joined by a number of Pac 12 teams to make a 16 Team Conference or the other way around. We are headed for 4 conferences with 16 teams each. The ACC will now also start to strength their herd. It will end up with 64 teams and everyone else will be playing in the intramural league.
The ACC blew it. I think its to late to recover. The Cinn's and UCF's are gone. there are a lot of good and bad things happening all at once. The one thing that keeps me smiling through all of it is the fact that ND will finally have on full display just how average they are.....
If Nebraska wins. Since joining the b10, Nebraska has not done much. I don’t think it will translate to wins. You got to take care of Purdues of B10 first.
I don't know how this is going to work. I will always say that if Texas would have done the right thing instead of being who they were the big 12 would have been fine. Not excited at all about this
I don't think the Big 10 is done expanding. I can see them poaching another Pac12 team or 2. Though my money is on Notre Dame joining. Makes all the sense. They got the brand, plenty of media money coming their way.
Norte Dame won’t join the B1G. They already own their own rights. They play an easy schedule just like the SEC. Why would they join the B1G? Nah, they are scared
I’m curious as to how the BIG is going to set up the divisions…for the upteenth time. Do they keep USC and UCLA in the same division? Does that mean Nebraska stays in a Western Division? Going to be interesting.
The Big Ten can't just sit back and let the SEC pull further and further ahead. I won't be surprised if the SEC looks to add FSU, Clemson and possibly Miami and/or VTech.
@AIPDogg 16 teams with OU & Texas. Room for 4 more teams to form two ten team divisions. You play every team in your division and possibly one team in the opposing division per year.
While it sucks right now for people, I think it will eventually shake out and the dust will settle. Both the SEC and the Big Ten will get to 20 teams and we will have the AFC vs NFC. OR, WA, UNC, Duke and ND all go to the Big Ten. Clemson, Miami, Florida State and two more go to the SEC. Done. Plain and simple. We will adapt to the new normal and sadly the other teams will be second tier.
Jon ACC is gone. The Miami, Clemson and Free Shoe U is going to the SEC. Time has changed, like you, I'm happy my team is in. The Big 12 will be the conference of the tradition of how it used to be, they will get their pick of teams. The G5 will have to have their own Championship also..

Now we'll have 2 better teams to beat to get anywhere and there won't even be divisions.
