Matt we run a Case 2500 inline ripper in front of all our corn every year and ahead of beans every 2-3 years. After ripping we run a Case 330 True Tandem vertical till at 2-3 inches deep. The wavy blades mix the soil and knock down the ridges from the ripper and the rolling baskets make a great seed bed. Seems like alot of tillage but the ripper makes a big difference especially on our farms with high clay content.

I heard a song the other day by a new band out of Nashville called "Plowin through a field near you" Cody Parks and the Dirty South band. Talks about plowing with a New Holland and your one of the few farms on here that run them. Check them out.

This is coming from a non farmer so this might be stupid question. Could you not let someone come in and cut and bale your cover crop. It would make you money by selling it and make it easier to get your seed in the ground. Me and my grandson was enjoying your show.

Cutting hay removes a ton of nutrients from the field. Considering hay doesn’t sell for much here, the cost of replacing those nutrients would exceed the revenue from the hay

Should have bought the Milwaukee 1 inch short anvil gun that only needs 1 battery to do what that crappy Ingersoll rand gun will do
