      Look into Audio-Technica At4040 Cardioid with a good wind guard. Shouldn't take much setup being that it's a USB connection and I believe the drivers are built in. The sound is very rich though and you can adjust the sensitivity to minimalism echoing and such. I am not sure if it could be connected to a boom and used with the DSLRs that you film with. It could be mobile. Good luck!

      It can make us feel better, though, to keep in mind that most of this stuff can last literally forever if it's cared for properly. Like bits or stirrups, if you keep them clean, store them where they can't get rusty and wipe them with mineral oil once in a while, they'll last 100 or more years in the same condition as when you first bought them. Same with anything leather like a saddle or bridle, keep them clean, store them in a dry place, oil them every so often, and they will last several generations (you might have to get a saddle re-stuffed if it gets flat) So yeah, people who buy everything new will spend a whole lot, but once they outgrow their gear or get a new horse who doesn't fit what they have, they re-sell their things, and that's when we poor people have an opportunity to buy quality tack that's affordable.
      Matt's video might make us feel poor, but he's also helping us to get to know what brands, materials, and countries of origin are good quality and likely to last for years, so the next time we go to our local Pony Club used tack sale, we will know how to recognise good bargains.
      Never buy a used helmet (you never know if it saved someone's head in a fall, in which case it could look fine but be cracked on the inside and unsafe) and obviously things like breeches and bandages can wear out, but clothing like a Dressage tailcoat will stay good for many years, since it's only worn at shows. Even that saddlepad Matt showed can last for many years if it's dried out between rides and washed regularly with gentle soap, so sweat can't rot out the stitching.
      I still use the same 45-year-old bridle from when I got my first horse at age 12, as well as some nice brushes I got at the same time, my field boots are 30 years old and still as functional and nice looking as when I bought them, and my saddles will still be good long after I am dead. Because they were all decent quality and I've cared for them over the years.
      LOL, I wish I could resurrect the breeches I had back then, those were way better quality than anything sold today. Of course they wouldn't fit me any more...

      People like Matt do not deserve that kind of comments... I mean that people who own horse have to give some money for their horses,right? I don't know if Matt is rich but in this video you can obviously see that he cares about Chase A LOT!!! And that is a good point...

      what care? he only showed you what he bought for his horse, and for himself. your horse doesn't give a flying f*ck what you put on him as long as it fits. (bit, saddle) all the rest is for "us". by this i am NOT saying that he doesn't take care of his horses. not at all, he does a wonderfull job at that, but just not how you referre. And no, i am not against leg protection and all that, it's just disapointing and discouraging to see him prancing around with all this, when all i want is to see him ride.

      @@Hspaard honestly the horse probably does care if it fits but I also feel like they care if it's comfortable because no horse wants an itchy saddle pad or a hard saddle pad but I feel like they don't care if the saddle is $4k or $10 as long as it doesn't cause them pain

    • @onefrozenheart590
      @onefrozenheart590 5 років тому +2

      $ and care aren’t mutually exclusive. Do you think the horse trots across the dressage arena and flexing what kind of saddle it has on. Yeah, you can have pretty things for a lot of $ but as long as it isn’t hurting the horse, you can have it for half the price. Hell just because something is expensive doesn’t mean automatically it fits the horse. This video is a major flex.

    I have no clue about horses, but I love how Matt explains things and I can live vicariously through watching the vids. I think they're (Matt, Steve and Jessie) adorable and I'm glad to know there are great people out there who do all they can for their animals to have and do their best. I live in the Caribbean so i can't really relate but I have a service dog that costs the same as a car or condo, so I get ignoring the costs in favour of the investment into your Fur Baby. God bless our Fur babies. They are worth more than we can ever pay and give back more than we give them. They do it out of love, affection and trust asking nothing back. My Pupper's training, gear, insurance and healthcare, toys and equipment can stun anyone and he's a cute Cockerspaniel. I can't imagine owning a horse far more 3... The responsibility must be nuts! Bless you Matt!!!

      damaar I rode on a novice eventing team for years. We were always told we should move up in competition because we were experienced and capable riders (no one was heading for grand pre). However my off track thoroughbred cost US$7500, (I made payments as one would a car). the next class horses were more than US$10K-$50K. Trainers are sometimes $400 an hr. Things are expensive but since we are asking these living beings to work with us, carry us for days jump, run cross country to be safe and have your horses health in mind-the tack costs what it costs. I remember saying, I don’t smoke drink or gamble because my discretionary income is earmarked for tack. I did not have a $2K helmet but when you are going 30mph over fences, ditches etc, a good helmet isn’t good enough. Mine was US$500. I drove a 12 yr old truck to haul my horse, kept my VW Beetle for 10 yrs. An expensive Joy!

    Brave video! Only our accountant knows our stable costs but I can say honestly that no matter our winnings we still managed a deficit, no surprise, and also why it is important to have a great accountant who has a knowledge of tax codes for the business. The more wins you get, the more you want better stuff for the stable. Now that we retired our stable I have bins of great gear (my big donks are not under saddle) and when we encounter young equestrians it is like Christmas for them as I load them up with tack of all kinds. But, what to do with the custom embroidered luggage with the stable name and such for when we traveled? We still use the smaller bags since we bought the best, the larger pieces for horse gear are somewhere around here along with my custom made stable sign. As you note, you want the best and you pay for it but it never wears out. We can probably line our coffins with our tack bags and stable signs. lol.

    I need some advice. I rode and then stopped, now I want to start again. Now to my problem: There are 2 riding stables in question, my two best friends are in one that is further away, the other one has much more variety during the riding lessons (rides, jumping, dressage). Which stable would you choose? I hope u can help me🙈

    • @shrekscumslut1341
      @shrekscumslut1341 5 років тому +1

      Depends what you want ,if you want variety in the riding lesson and want to experience more then go for that but if you want it to be more simple and chill then go for that option .choose what fits you.I like variety alot when riding so that I'm not always doing the same things and it helps the horse to not get bored

    • @kelseyk530

      County is WAY BETTER than Kingsley. Never ever heard of that brand ever. Or so many other top brand dressage saddles we have here in the US like Custom, etc. or Not to mention the super expensive CWD and Devoucoux dressage saddles. I had a County Fusion with the top Buffalo Elephant print leather and skid row panels and he adjustable wool flock tree that my CWD and Devouxoux jumping saddles don't have as they are foam. That County in 2011 was $6k new, barely used, and I got it for $1800-$2k. County's newest model is $7k or $8k!!!

    Helmets are very surprisingly expensive, and honestly a lot of people are super shocked to learn the cost of purchasing one. I am a professional auto racer and our race helmets are mostly carbon fiber, thank goodness for their noticable light weight, but the full face helmets I use are approximately $3500.- $3850.00.
    That doesn't include the the average $950.-$1400.00 custom paint and art that cost for sponsors advisemeñt. You brother certainly seem to be the gentleman like yourself. Thanks
    Knowing the cost of our rolling race garage in a semi, you must have written a nice sum for the beautiful new truck transport. The red Land Rover paint is beautiful.
