In USMC I was a Helocopter mechanic. We called this stuff Torque stripe. It was kinda like cake icing that would harden. Used just like your using it to get a visual indicator on a loser ing bolt. Typically followed up with safety wire. HMH-363 SEMPER FI 02-07
I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if that is where the original idea came from!! Once you find something that works no reason not to use it where it’s useful elsewhere!!
It is a fix-it stick tool kit, one of the most useful tool kits I have ever owned! I use two levels for when I have to shoot with my non-dominate hand, I still can check and make sure my rifle is level when I am connecting to it from the opposite side.
