I got a similar one from Big Lots. I was nearly in tears thinking I got something defective and was going to have to go out AGAIN. Thank you so, so much for this video!
OMG! UA-cam University for the win AGAIN!!! I’m sitting here trying to figure it out and I was thinking I was going to have to return, then the proverbial light bulb went off-check UA-cam. This was the 1st video I clicked on. My hubby passed away about a year & a half ago and I’m teaching myself to do the little things he would’ve taken care of if he was still here. THANK YOU Sir🙏🏽. Definitely adding this to my Useful Info playlist.
We never thought to take that screw off. We thought it was permanently attached. And there was no mention of that in the instructions, so thank you so much for posting this video. It saved the day!
Thankful! I have learned that watching a video before you start even with a seemingly simple project is an excellent strategy. Very clear explanation which save me a lot of frustration as my extendible curtain rod also did not come with instructions.
Thank God you made this video. I'm a 78 year old widow who has spent the last 20 minutes trying to figure out the same thing. Wouldn't it be intelligent TO PUT INSTRUCTION IN THE BOX so we would know how to assemble. Thank you very much for explaining it.
Your video saved me and my friend from having to pry out one of the plugged rods. Would it be so hard for them to just make the connector rod with a hole on each end, and the finial on one end of each other rod????
Thank you! I didn't spend as much time as others before resorting to UA-cam. You're video came up first and when you mentioned the thinner rod I was able to notice the difference and reconfigure as you demonstrated. My rod was slightly different where the screw didn't come out but it was the same concept. Thank you again!
Thank yuu soooooo much for this video! You are a life saver! I am a 69 yr old woman trying to put this rod up that doesn't make sense and NO INSTRUCTIONS come with it... never seen this before when installing curtain rods! No Instructions either!!!! Mine are Better homes and garden from Walmart. Same set up .....
THANK YOU!!!! I had already returned one and was about to cry real tears because this was set up like the other. If only the manufacturer would tell us this on the box!
Thank you🙌🙌 Had no idea and was getting so frustrated between not figuring it out and none of the prior videos I watched actually explained it... Thank you again 🙏😄
So thankful for your video!!! I sat there on the floor trying to figure out what I was doing. I was literally 2 minutes from taking my rods back to Menards lol.
Dude thank you so much for this video. I was confused with the 3 pieces I thought I got one with missing items or juss the wrong ones. You’re awesome! That damn thin rod !!!
I agree with earlier posters! I've been trying to figure out how to install the extendable curtain rod too! I already returned the first set thinking it was incorrectly packed! Bless you!
I can’t thank you enough for this video! I was preparing to return my second curtain rod when I kept searching and found your video. It makes absolutely no sense why the extension rod wouldn’t be the one without ends! Thanks again
Thank you for this video - the only one I have found that explains that the fat ends need to connect to the finials. Wonder why they don't include that in the instructions (much less why they pre-install the finials into the thin rod?
Thank you so very much for clarifying the difference in the rods and how to attach them properly I was going to take back an entire set that had nothing wrong with it. You are an Angel
Thank you, thank you!!! I spent too many frustrating minutes before giving up and deciding I would have to return this stupid rod. Then as one last option, I searched UA-cam and found your video!!! I think my packaged rod was a return, likely from a previous customer who had same frustration when the 3 rods couldn’t connect. Sad that in the 2 years since your video, the packaging and insufficient instructions are still being sold this way. Thanks for saving my day 👏😊
THANK YOU! THIS SAVED ME!! I too go this from Home depot but it was the double rod and the instructions don't make sense. I was able to figure it out withing a couple minutes with your video.
After trying for 4 mins I KNEW to come onto youtube and TA DA!! TY TY TY!! I didn't get frustrated!! YEAH UA-cam to the RESUCE AGAIN!! TY TY TY sir!! Very much so.
We were looking for the receipt to return. When we couldn't find it, we told ourselves we had to eat this one. This video is a mood changer. If the manufacturers would take a look at it, they wouldn't put the end piece (decorative ball or whatever) on the middle rod. They are obviously assuming most customers will only use two pieces.
Gratitude from me and my husband as well....we looked at the directions multiple times and could NOT figure it out. Our JC Penney curtain rod had the same exact set up. THANK YOU!
Thank you for sharing your fix on how to deal with that strange set up by the manufacturer. You should be allowed to write those installation manuals! You have saved me some hair-pulling. Thanks again!
Thank you sir! BH Beekman owes you some money for this tutorial. First of all their instructions don’t say anything about this. I would have never figured that out.
4 years later , my man is still helping us out. I bought the Style Well drapery rod in Ontario Canada Home Depot and it also had the crown on the wrong rod.
Thank you so much! I thought the packaging was assembled incorrectly but the packaging is correct as it is based on the 72 inch use. The extension is if you want to use it as the longer 144 inch use but they don't include the directions on how to use the extension piece!
I literally just went thru this last month after remodeling our master bedroom. I got these same curtain rods and for the life of me could not understand WHY it was making me feel stupid just trying to hang my curtains. I just made up my mind these damn things were DEFECTIVE and ended up using a conduit pvc pipe from my stash and rigged it up with that. How funny I’m just now coming across this tutorial video after losing my mind a month ago
Good thing is now you know and your next curtain rod installation might be less frustrating hopefully. I guess most curtain rods out there have similar rearrangement setup. Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment.
Each rod has a screw hole in one end to attach the finial (what you called crown), the small one is for the smallest amount of width so you put the small rod into the bigger and you get the smaller width, now if you need to do the extension you put the small rod in the center of both other bigger rods, making sure the finial hole is on the outside and then you simply extend the ends to your liking.
Yes, I wanted the rod to extend more than as it came out of the box, so I had to put the smaller rod in the center to make it to the size I desired. Also, thanks for letting me know that the edges are called a finial and not a crown. I was not aware of that term so good to know. Cheers.
Four years later and this video is still helping people hanging curtains. Thank you!
You're welcome!
That’s crazy I literally sat on the floor crying cause I tried for about 45 minutes 😂😂thank youuuu
Same here. It’s sad!!
I going crazy
You have saved my day- I thought I was going crazy 🙃 Thank you 😊
LMAO me
😂😂😂It’s messed up when they mk these things difficult instead of easy
2 years later and you're still saving ppls sanity 😂😂 Thank you for this
Your welcome!!
Make that 3 years later🥳 I was so close to returning this rod. UA-cam University for the 🏆 win every time!
😂😂😂I definitely was ready to return this thang😆😆😆
We were going to return this to the store because we couldn't figure it out and thought maybe it was made wrong. Thank you!!
I got a similar one from Big Lots. I was nearly in tears thinking I got something defective and was going to have to go out AGAIN. Thank you so, so much for this video!
Thanks because I was like "am I slow" 😂😂 smh, was ready to take mine back to the store lol. This vid was a big help!

I bet this video saved at least 15 20 minutes of my time that i would have spent trying to figure this out. Thanks!
You're welcome!
Your video saved me and my friend from having to pry out one of the plugged rods. Would it be so hard for them to just make the connector rod with a hole on each end, and the finial on one end of each other rod????
Beats me... I guess they want the customers to have an opinion and an experience about the product. Be it a bad one at it is cool with them I suppose.

So thankful for your video!!! I sat there on the floor trying to figure out what I was doing. I was literally 2 minutes from taking my rods back to Menards lol.
You're welcome!
Thank you for this! I have never felt more stupid putting together a curtain rod. But this saved me. 😅
You’re very welcome!
As a fireman by day and property maintenance repair by night, I couldn’t figure out why this wasn’t working. You sir, are a hero 🫡
You're very welcome sir! Have a great day!
Just wanted to thank the person who made this video. Didnt see the alternative head install on the thinner rod. Now I'm happy! Needed 72 inches
I honestly couldn't believe I was that dumb that I couldn't figure out how to connect 3 pieces. Thank you for restoring my faith.
You're welcome!
I can't stop laughing because I thought it was just me
Dude thank you so much for this video. I was confused with the 3 pieces I thought I got one with missing items or juss the wrong ones. You’re awesome! That damn thin rod !!!

Wow! And here I was about to return my curtain rods because I thought they were mispackaged. Thank you for posting your very helpful video.
You're welcome!
Glad I only tried for five minutes before looking it up on UA-cam 😂. Thank you.
Thank you. I also was wondering if you figured out a way so the middle rod doesn’t slide back and forth when the curtains are moved.
Your welcome!
Man, 50 minutes after getting f.. mad, and i did the search in youtube and here you go saving my day!!
Much appreciated 😂😂😂
You're welcome!
I can’t thank you enough for this video! I was preparing to return my second curtain rod when I kept searching and found your video. It makes absolutely no sense why the extension rod wouldn’t be the one without ends! Thanks again

You’ve saved another person. I don’t know what I would have done without this video.
So helpful. Thanks for making this. Why do they package it like that? It’s deceptive for us the consumer.
Thank you sir, I couldn't get the extension rod working untill I found this video.

Yes yes! I kept trying to figure out, how I was going to be able to utilize all 3 rods. Luckily I lucked up on your video. Thanks
I was about to have a DYI meltdown on this curtain rod until I found this video!
