Yes, sometimes these picks are so random. And especially scary, if they're showing someone from the 50s, 60s, or 70s, maybe even 80s, out of nowhere. I mean, it wasn't as scary for me, because she won, I would have been way more concerned, if it was a 5th place finisher who's not a big name in the music scene (anymore). I'm glad she's still alive, but you'll never know.
@@in_wino_veritasThe only reason I can think of this being posted is because Luxembourg announced they were opening up their submission process for potential 2025 entries. Although using the same color scheme that they did for when they posted Françoise Hardy’s video just after she died didn’t help.
I love Vicky, she is so talented and a beautiful lady. A Greek woman who lives in Germany, who sings this song in French for Luxembourg., double brilliant. Not everyone from Eurovision has gone on to have great music careers, but she has. 💕💕
Vicky Leandros is well known for her victory in 1972 but she also represented Luxembourg at Eurovision 1967 "L'amour est bleu" composed by André Popp with French lyrics by Pierre Cour,. finishing in 4th place. Her song became a huge hit charting in so many countries including Canada and Japan. It has since been recorded by many other musicians, most notably French orchestra leader Paul Mauriat, whose familiar instrumental version -recorded in late 1967- became the first number-one hit by a French lead artist to top the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States.
One of the all-time Eurovision greats. This song is stunning, and Vicky Leandros's commanding performance was electrifying. Her '67 "L'Amour est Bleu" is also fantastic.
What a nice surprise to watch artist Vicky Leandros: I was about 17 years old, back in time, when I watched her at the Eurivision song contest (" Come what May") early '70s and every night on Radio Luxemburg...sweet years when we enjoyed ourselves with the so called transistor radios and 45 records...unforgettable...
In the past, major performances did not necessarily have to be a huge, totally disproportionate show. A mesmerizing voice on a simple small stage was still able to fascinate the audience up to nowadays. Allez Lëtzebuerg!! 🇱🇺🇱🇺🇱🇺🇱🇺🇱🇺🇱🇺🇱🇺🇱🇺🇱🇺🇱🇺🇱🇺🇱🇺 Prett fir 2025!!! 🇱🇺🇱🇺🇱🇺🇱🇺🇱🇺🇱🇺🇱🇺🇱🇺🇱🇺🇱🇺🇱🇺✨️✨️
*Après toi (After you)* Lyrics with English translation: Tu t'en vas, l'amour a pour toi le sourire d'une autre - You go away, love has for you the smile of another Je voudrais, mais ne peux t'en vouloir - I would want to, but can't be mad at you Désormais, tu vas m'oublier - From now on, you'll forget me Ce n'est pas de ta faute, et pourtant tu dois savoir - It's not your fault, but still you should know - Qu'après toi, je ne pourrai plus vivre - That after you, I couldn't live anymore Non plus vivre qu'en souvenir de toi - I would only live remembering you Après toi, j'aurai les yeux humides - After you, I'll have wet eyes Les mains vides, le cœur sans joie - Empty hands, a joyless heart - Avec toi, j'avais appris à rire - With you, I've learnt to laugh Et mes rires ne viennent que par toi - And my laughs only came by you Après toi, je ne serai que l'ombre - After you, I'll only be the shadow De ton ombre, après toi - Of your shadow, after you - Après toi, je pourrai peut-être donner de ma tendresse - After you, I could perhaps give my tenderness Mais plus rien de mon amour - But not my love anymore - Après toi, je ne pourrai plus vivre - After you, I couldn't live anymore Non plus vivre qu'en souvenir de toi - I would only live remembering you Après toi, j'aurai les yeux humides - After you, I'll have wet eyes Les mains vides, le cœur sans joie - Empty hands, a joyless heart - Avec toi, j'avais appris à rire - With you, I've learnt to laugh Et mes rires ne viennent que par toi - And my laughs only came by you Après toi, je ne serai que l'ombre - After you, I'll only be the shadow De ton ombre, аprèѕ toi - Of your ѕhadow, аfter you

Vicky is not french , she is greek but was mainly raised in Germany and though an international star of sorts ( she has restricted the number of countries she used to sing in since way back in the 80's), her career was and is primarily in Germany ( and the german speaking countries and greece). We hardly see her in france or quebec anymore ( where she used to be very popular). She is still a big star mainly in northern europe.
Glasgow narrowly missed out of hosting in 2023 to Liverpool (at the time when they hosed on behalf of Ukraine), that time when a Scottish city will host Eurovision will have to wait a bit longer.
this is how a greek artist won eurovision even before greece started competing
And also she competed in the masked singer germany 😂
This is the spirit of Eurovision
We had dictatorship in Greece in 1972. She was taking care of her on life outside of Greece
Just wondering, was it common for all contestants to sing in French back then?.
@@BrankoKramaric yes, since most performers representing luxembourg did not speak luxembourgish
I was scared for a moment but when I googled, I was kinda relieved to find out that she is still alive :)

Non plus vivre qu'en souvenir de toi - I would only live remembering you
Après toi, j'aurai les yeux humides - After you, I'll have wet eyes
Les mains vides, le cœur sans joie - Empty hands, a joyless heart
-
Avec toi, j'avais appris à rire - With you, I've learnt to laugh
Et mes rires ne viennent que par toi - And my laughs only came by you
Après toi, je ne serai que l'ombre - After you, I'll only be the shadow
De ton ombre, après toi - Of your shadow, after you
