The charging port on my Ryobi 54" is dead. Replacements are impossible to find. Kind of criminal that Ryobi doesn't supply replacement parts on a 3 yr old product. Did you replace yours with EZ GO? If so (and successful) which EZ GO port did you use?
To the best of my knowledge, there are a couple different charging ports that were used by Ryobi 48v. I think mine was an older style that is no longer available. It has the three chrome screws on the inside. The newer style is molded over on the inside. I think the newer style can be used on the older mowers. I actually have a couple spares if you're in the Detroit area... I did swap my 3screw port for an EZ-GO port. It was a lot of hand work, but it does work. Here is my video: ua-cam.com/video/Bdj0e7xY3vU/v-deo.html
Hello Robert I’ve watched your videos on lithium swap I have the same mower as u it worked great for about 5 cuts I just went out to use it and it’s completely dead I hooked up the same charger as u and it’s not charging any ideas on how I can fix it plz thank u let me. Know plz
Make sure that you cleaned out all of the plastic tabs in the charging port. It's possible that the charger handle is not fully seated in the port. If the charger still doesn't seem to be working, slide the battery tray out and connect the charger using the alligator clamps. See if it charges that way. Maybe the charging port is bad.
You could probably create a temporary connector with an Anderson plug and you should be able to plug right in to the Anderson plug on your mower and charge your batteries that way. I did the reverse with my new charger, as it came with an Anderson plug. I adapted the EZGO-style plug in to my system. I don't know if you saw my comment on your other thread, but for your safety, you should replace the smart charger you originally bought if you haven't done so with one from Dakota Lithium. The model you bought and like models available on Amazon are not grounded internally, which is a problem. Commenters on Amazon have reported arcs and sparks, smoke, a fire, and in my case, a failure of the sensing circuit, which caused the cable to always be energized with 48 volts, even when not plugged in. The problems with that are obvious. They also charge at a voltage above the engineering specs for the CHINS batteries, which I worry could degrade the batteries prematurely. The Dakota Lithium chargers run at the required voltage.
I wasn't too concerned about a temporary charging method. Thru the Anderson would make it pretty simple. I do want to get the charging port replaced and operating. I must have missed your other comment. I am not an electrical expert, and I will consider your charger recommendation. I generally charge at the lowest 5a setting, but it sounds like the voltage "push" is the real concern, as well as the lack of internal grounding.

Yes, it is kinda related. Ryobi used at least two different charging ports on the Ryobi Zeros. The "Green Light" video, which I have removed from UA-cam, (at least temporarily), only works with "my" style of charging port. If you did the green light mod on the other port, that port will overload, melt, and smoke! The port will be ruined. The fact that Ryobi charging ports are hard to find could be an indication that a lot of people have had charging port issues, and not related to the Lithium conversion. I am working on a video to modify an EZGO golf cart port to fit the Ryobi. It worked. I may have it published tonight.

Is this something to do with lithium ion battery conversion that the charging port went bad?

Thanks, I did modify as suggested the plug. I will undo it. regards Ben.
