@@RadarRoadWarriorsI’ve always pulled both caps. Gives you the opportunity to check the condition before f the torsion assembly. When the new fabric and strap are installed, Mount the arms and set the torsion lock to the roll up position. Add the proper tension by spinning the roller tube with fabric. Slide the new fabric back in the rail and you’re about done. No using vice grips to add or remove tension, thats why I still have all 7 fingers after all these years!
Why not just take the cap off?
It’s spring loaded. Yes you can unwind the spring, remove and rewind the spring but that’s an added risk on injury that I prefer to avoid.
