Glock 26 Gen 5 with Questionable GlockStore Tungsten Guide Rod

- In this video I show what my glock 26 Gen 5 is doing as I slightly pull back on the trigger with a GlockStore super heavy tungsten guide rod installed. The slide rocks slightly back as I pull the trigger to the wall, which repeat the question as to whether this is a serious issue with this Super Heavy Tungsten Guide Rod, or whether this part #1039-BLK-A9-16lb is actually the correct part number.
When I install the original recoil spring guide rod in the gun, I pull the trigger back to the wall & it doesn't do the same thing as it does with the Tungsten guide rod.
Asking for any feedback on this. I may contact the GlockStore or leave the link to this video on one of their videos on UA-cam and see if I can probably get a replacement or exchange in the event this is actually not the right one. however if I remember seeing correctly guide rods for the Gen 1 2 and 3 are the same as the ones for the Gen 4 and 5.
You got a Gen 5 but the rod is for Gen 1, 2 and 3. That might be your problem.
See reply at bottom. I'm thinking what you're thinking. But it may not actually fit the Gen 5 glock 26. So far, based on the application description and the description saying that it IS for my Glock 26, I'm guessing this one is out of tolerance and defective. I'm waiting to hear back from someone at the Glockstore. I emailed them thru their site cuz I couldn't find an email address to attach pics & be more detailed as to what's going on. Their website only allows 900 characters when you contact them thru their site.
The correct lbs and then correct generation might solve the problem
@@victorramosjr2239 on the website there is a separate posting for the gen 5 tungsten guide rods.
@@victorramosjr2239 yea dude they legit have Gen 5 specific guide rods lol you got the one meant for Gens 1-3 that is literally the only issue
Another good reason to keep your Glock stock.
Gen 5 Gun with a guide rod meant for Gen 1, 2, or 3... And you question what's wrong...You'll figure it out
That's what the packaging says. I know where you're going with this. I did actually look it up on the GlockStore website under their "Super Heavy Tungsten Guide Rods", & according to their site, this is the correct & same part number for my Gen 5. Obviously, they might be mistaken about the compatibility of it with the Gen 5. But who knows, I'm still waiting to hear back from them, go figure.
@@victorramosjr2239 Well let me know, because I am about to replace my Rod as well and I don't want to deal with any issues
Guide rods above gen 4 have that big keyless smooth front captive on buisiness end. I couldn’t tell if he had gen adapter.
@@victorramosjr2239 they aren’t the same Guide Rod if You didn’t figure it out yet
I wouldn't bet on it.
I purchased the 18 lb stainless steel guide rod from the Glock Store and had a problem with the front of the guide rod spring sliding through the guide hole on the slide. When I removed the guide rod the spring came off the metal rod. I was planning to go out the next day and put some 9mm plus "P", which is the reason for getting an 18 lb guide rod. I bought this before the Covid lockdown and felt that I was way beyond the return date of the purchase. Needless to say I lost out. The first Glock Store guide rod I purchased was a stainless steel 16 lb and it works great. I'd like to start using +"P" ammo in my model 26 due to the short barrel. I'd still like to use +"P" and wonder if the 18 lbs is strong enough or should I go to a 20 lb. After seeing your video I wonder if I should buy another Glock Store guide rod. Glock store sells a packet of small washers for guide rods so maybe they are the ticket. Thanks for the video and good luck with your Glock. (they are a good handgun)
1 when you put that guide rod in to a GEN five when it’s only rated for 1 2 @3 you’re causing a lot of pressure on the barrel lock, and that could cause it to snap or damage your barrel or your locking block or whatever but my advice is stick to the OEM guide rod that it came with because in the long run if you keep running it with the new guide rod that you bought you could wind up with some very serious problems. Much love stay safe please take our advice.
Yeah the package shows 1 2 3 not gen 5 u rocket scientist
Thank you Dan. Now you're making me wanna go pull it out of my safe & check it with my magnifying glass and light. The coworker I bought it from said he didn't put that many rounds thru it, & I don't think I did either, at least not over 1,000 yet. But yes, I went back to the stock guide rod a while back & wont put back that other one. The Glockstore one is just sitting there taking up space in some drawer.
Thanks again for the reply & feedback.
I had the same problem with my gen 4 and didnt seem to effect its operation at all, put the same one in my gen 5 and does it as well. It is the 16lb spring but now that its warn in it does not seem as tight as my factory spring thinkin about an 18lb and prolly ware in and be closer to the 16lb factory is my guess, but the spring tension seem softer on my GS store spring now and dont think its was like that brand new
You have the wrong gen spring as everyone has said.
Don't listen to the people that say it makes no difference. I've had mine in my g19 gen 4 for about 10-12yrs. It does make a difference and I've never had a problem with it. The difference is subtle but is there.
The only person that knows how recoil feels to you is you. The only person that knows how the weight of your gun feels in your hand is you.
Don’t know if you ever got this figured out BUT this is when the striker spring is overpowering the recoil spring. If you put a 4.5/5 striker spring in instead of oem 6# spring the problem will go away.
Did you fire this yet . I got a guide rod from the glock store for my 40 and went to range and the slide would not go back to battery I had to smack the back of the slide fired and the same . What did is Put the glock store guide rod and the original rod side and found that the glock store rod was longer. Put the factory rod back in and to the range and the the gun works perfectly. I won’t by anything from that store anymore.
I already shot it with the Glockstore guide rod. I showed this video to my firearms instructor & he said the slide movement was causing my sight alignment to move. I know my sights were aligned right, but my shots were off the steel plate & I kept asking myself "WTF?" The gun wasn't malfunctioning, but I still knew something wasn't right.
I already emailed the Glockstore to see about getting this guiderod swapped out for another one, but havent heard back from them. Not in a hurry to get another one, I'll just keep the original one on for now. I was told that if I want to accomplish the same thing as this guide rod, I should just install a Streamlight TLR-6 light on the Glock. But naw, I'll stick to it the way it is, not my EDC gun. I carry my Sig P365, but this baby Glock is compatible with my other fullsize Glock mags, which is why I bought it.
As others have stated you have a gen5 which uses the 2 stage spring the aftermarket kit you have says gen 1-3 but also uses a 2 stage spring. I’m sure it’s already been suggested but I would get a factory gen 5 assembly. I’m not sure what issue you were trying to solve with the aftermarket part? The factory assembly should be good for 2500 rounds before normal replacement. Unless you have a specific reason to change the weight of the spring I wouldn’t.
The aftermarket rod came with the gun when it was sold to me. He still gave me the original one. So that's what I have on right now. I didn't buy that aftermarket guide rod.
Thanks for your feedback and for watching
@@victorramosjr2239 I try to refrain from switching out internal parts unless you have a specific reason. Only thing I could think of for changing to a titanium rod is for heat and unless you have a selector switch for full auto I don’t think the factory rod is gonna prematurely wear.
Something is catching maybe sear connector or something pulling the firing pin plunger take apart the lower and put back together see what happens
I am a gunsmith in Bullhead City Arizona we rarely have Glocks come in for repair for any issues but when they do it's always aftermarket parts in them causing the issue always stick with OEM parts never put aftermarket triggers or disconnectors in your Glock if you can't shoot a stock Glock trigger than you can't shoot practice more.
Thank you Señor. I have just replaced the original recoil spring & guide rod back in the baby Glock. Like I said, I bought it with the aftermarket piece AND the original one.
Thanks for watching.
You’re a gun smith but you can’t see he’s using the wrong part to begin with..?
Well first thing off you have a Gen 5 but the tungsten rod says Gen 1 2 and 3 I think the Gen 5's have a different style rod that has a two-step type rod spring.
That's so cool
Looks like you have the tungsten guide rod which is for the gen 1,2, or 3. You need the tungsten guide rod that is for the gen3,4, 5 for the Glock 26 gen 5.
If you stay with the original 16 lbs spring tension you are not going to feel any difference (once you get your slide issues ironed out). If you had gone with the 14 lbs spring you'd get less muzzle flip, because for every action there's an equal and opposite . . . third law of motion. The competition guys use a lighter spring for this reason. Just being Tungsten isn't going to do anything except that it's heavier than the plastic OEM. In short, if you stay with the original spring tension there's really no point in replacement.
The problem is that the tungsten guide rod is installed in the wrong place. You are supposed to put the fat end first in the garbage.
Lmao!
Lol... good one.
Yeah i think you just glossed over the gen 12and 3 on package. Your gun is a gen 5? But i would like to know how the new guide rod really helps on muzzle flip. I have been thinking about that. and is that the super heave meaning is that the full Tungsten guide rod. I understand there are two types in tungsten?
Wayne, I never pursued buying another one. One of my firearms instructor said if I wanted to achieve the same result of a heavier ft end on the gun, to just but a weapon mounted light.
@@victorramosjr2239 This is true Victor.
Good info.
Yup , We on UA-cam forrum has figured out the problem. It Is The Loose Nut behind the Steering Wheel. 😂
😯🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
I have the same item in a G26 gen3. Absolutely no issues at all. Get a Gen 3 sell the Gen 5.
Stay with the Glock OEM recoil spring assembly. The 9mm don’t have the kind of recoil to justify the guide rod.😅
Website say gen 5 Glock 26 uses gen 3-4 guide rod
Guide rod spring weight is too light. It’s so light that the movement of trigger bar against extractor button, is causing over travel and unwanted movement of slide. 18 lb is usually factory spring weight not sure if subcompact have same spring weight but a bit heavier weight spring will most likely correct issue.
Are you sure it’s not the resistance of the striker spring overcoming the initial lack of resistance in the recoil spring, what it looks like to me.
Just leave the original spring in it. There is very little muzzle flip in that weapon. Buy 250 rounds of FMJ and go shoot it. There should be no miss feeds with the original guide rod and double spring. Looks like normal trigger take up to me. I have a 27 which shoots 40 cal and it has same type of guide and spring. I can shoot it fast and accurate because of that original double spring and guide. Go take pistol to a Glock gun smith to make sure all the other eternals are original.
The box says it's for a Gen 1, 2, 3 but when he takes the aftermarket guide rod out, the tip is a Gen4, 5 rod. The Gen 1,2,3 is smaller in diameter. That being said, it's the wrong guide rod in that box, so it could be a heavier pound and maybe even for another gun altogether. It's not like he bought the guide rod from the Glockstore. It came with the gun purchase. Never trust other people's mods.
Is that a glock 26 gen 5 ? If so that is the problem crazy guy
No one told me someone told me that the original glockspring is the best there is if it’s not jamming when you shooting then don’t change it
ummmmm you got the one for gen 1 2 3
It did say gen 1 2 3 not gen 5
It states not for gen 5....they require a lighter spring....the lone wolf has an allen head at the guide rod end to replace springs....
You have a GEN 5…….you put a guide rod in it designed for gen 1,2 or 3……think about it dude. Let me know if you can figure it out. Gen 1, 2, or 3 part….in a Gen 5…and there’s issues. McFly! Hello McFly!!! ANYBODY HOME??????
Gen 5 guide rods for other glocks like the the 19 have a little bigger guide rod. Check the website it clearly says for Glock 26 gen 5 use a gen 3/4 guide rod. That certain one is just defective
Well isn't that the wrong part for your gun? You have a Glock 26 GEN 5 gun and the package says for Gen 1,2, and 3????
Wow...packaging says it's specifically NOT for your Gen Glock...
You have the wrong guide rod for the the gen 5
You should use parts that meant for your gun.
You have a 5. This guide rod is for 1,2,3 gen.
It says gen 1-3..... you have a GEN 5. Is this a joke?if so ur hilarious 😂
I asked the same question. But I looked up the part number and supposedly the description says:
This item fits in and functions in both Gen3, Gen4, and Gen5 Sub Compact guns also known as Mini-Glocks: Glock Model 26, 27, 33, and Glock Model 29,30, and 36.
But the packaging says what you saw. I already emailed them. Maybe its defective. Either way, I'm using the stock OEM spring & guide rod right now.
Hmmm I see..... honestly I would just go ahead and return it while you're still able to if so. Personally I don't really buy into the hype that aftermarket guide rods try to promote. If you still have the OEM I put it in there and leave it.
@@m17x4v7 I can't really return it. I never bought that thing it was just in the gun when I bought the Glock from a coworker but the coworker just happened to give me the original one as well. So I just installed the original one back in and that's how it is right now. But I did try contacting the Glock store to no avail by email and even tried calling them but for some reason they don't like to answer. I may try it again sometime. But right now I got other things more important than trying to get a different tungsten guide rod from them.
Buy one for a gen 5. You bought a glock gen 1-4 . Don't do upgrades if you don't know what your doing.
Naw, I just decided to keep it stock. I didn't put much effort into trying to acquire the correct one after all. I never heard back from the Glock store after I tried to contact them by email and phone. So I would venture to say their customer service sucks.
I love this vid. This dude is fucking crazy 😂😂😂
🙈😳🙈😳🙈😳
You don't have a gen 3 looks like 4 or 5 could be the problem
Take it apart and turn the washer on top around they been putting it on wrong
Take guide rod apart
Seriously!!! 🤦♂️
To reduce recoil, shoot softer loads in your ammo choices
incorrect spring brother
You guys, in the Glock store description of the guide rod it clearly says for a Glock 26 gen 5 use a guide rod for gen 3/4, a gen 5 guide rod wouldn’t fit a Glock 26 even though it’s a gen 5 because the gen 5 guide rods on the other glocks are a little bigger. Check the website so you guys can see for your self. That guide rod just came out defective
Not quite correct…he has a guide rod model designed for gen 1, 2, & 3 which is incorrect. He needs the model that is designed for gen 3, 4, & 5.
Something is definitely wrong, possibly taking it out of battery
i know every1 is saying this but u need a gen 5 guide rod
You are joking? You are dry firing & arecyou expecting the slide to travel back? It is a Blow Black System that requires a round be fired for slide to cycle. Plus the rod is forcgen 1-3, you have a gen 5... which has some different designs
Dude you just said it. That parts for a gen 1,2,or 3. You have a gen 5 glock.
The gun has been set back to completely stock since a while ago. I didn't get to shoot it this weekend because my son got tired of shooting a bunch of 40 cal ammo and some 223. Maybe next time I'll take it for another session if we get around to the 9 mil. Sitting on a bunch of 40 cal ammo so that's what we shoot most of the time
You have to have generation five parts for Generation 5. You'll shoot your eye out kid
Better off with the stock guide rods for All Glocks.
Save your $$.
The amount of weight isn't that noticeable to me.
I do prefer metal over plastic though.
Just call the Glock store
You bought the wrong model guide rod. You purchased the model designed for gen 1, 2, & 3, which wont work with gen 5. The model you want is the one designed for gen 3, & 4 which is compatible with gen 5.
Your recoil spring is too light
You have the wrong guide rod. That’s a Gen 3 guide rod.
put the original rod back in and leave well enough alone
That, my friend, seems to have been the solution. I'm not going to eff with that guide rod anymore.
Don’t mess with it. Return the thing
Can't return it. I bought the Glock used with it. But I also got the original with it. So I just installed the original one back in it.
@@victorramosjr2239 just throw it out then.
U Got The WRONG Guide Rod...
You have a Gen 5 Glock 26 and you are trying to use a Gen 1-3 part in it. This is why it doesn't work!!
Just keep it stock. Can't beat stock Glock... If you can't shoot a Glock stock , you need practice not accessories.....
Real oem not expensive. Factory glocks really don’t like other firing parts.
Lmao, your glock is Gen5. That guide rod is for Gen 1,2,3. Ummm hello.
You have a gen 5 gun and gen e rod 😂😂😂😂
Anyone who puts parts for a gen 1-3 in a gen 5, complains that it doesn't work, should be glad that breathing is a motor reflex. He isn't smart enough to breath of his own volition..... remedy; pull ones head out of one's ass.
Don’t read your packaging????! 🥴
A Gen 5 needs no other guide rod, stick with the factory one,Gen 5 glock parts are probably different than other Gen glocks, stop tinkering,a glock is good to go needs no mods
All Glocks do that lol
Glocks should be left alone there just fine out of the box.. After market crap.
You could have avoided this pointless video with some critical reading skills lol
Ouch!!! 😄
Remember, I didn't buy this guide rod. I bought the gun from a coworker & it was in the gun. Luckily, he also gave me the original one that came with the gun plus a few other extras like a appendix holster that I later sold to recoup some $.
"There's a sucker born every minute, here let me sell you a "grip plug and completely superfluous Tungsten Guide Rod" "
--Lenny from Glockstore
Other than the incorrect guide rod possibly, you're gonna also need a camera tripod ....
Yeah, I suck at making these films sometimes, more often than not.
