Thanks AJ very clear instructions and I just fixed my daughters Clio key card. 1 thing I might add to your excellent instructions is if you bend an old credit card and slide that in the gap you make with the knife it will help protect the circuit board when you are cutting the inner sections.
Thanks for the video AJ. Both keys in my daughter inlaw's Koleos had this problem. In one key card all 3 soldered joints were broken. Knowing where to cut and your advice to keep the blade to one side of the circuit board took a lot of the risk out of the repair.
Hello AJ i I saw your video and I did the same, but my key now is locking and unlocking the car, but when I put the card again it saying key not recognisable again do you know why? Thanks
In this case there may be a problem with the receiver built in to the slot. Or even that the coil in the key is still not soldered properly, I have had to do a key twice, have another look. Sorry I can't be of more help AJ
My key cards were defective from the cover, I then exchanged them and my daughter magically removed a transponder, so ordered 2 new ones and the key only works at 315 MHz, but the system normally works at 433 MHz, so neither of those work for me ZV still the keyless go, I can unlock the immobilizer and start the car, but nothing more, If I use the original transponder, I get the message Key not recognized. An idea ?
Unfortunately there are too many variables here. I would get a second key cloned locally and try that. Once you have a working key you can reprogram a new one. Best of luck 🤞
I used to have Renault Megane 2. That key card is very problematic and only the dealer can order and replace it for you. Ater you replaced that card...then the card reader will be the next thing on the list that need to be replaced or repaired. I almost slept on the veld one day, trying to start the car because the card reader wasn't reading the card...i spent over close to 2hours trying to start the car. EVERYTIME YOU START THE CAR...DON'T ALWAY LEAVE THE CARD ON THE CARD SLOT, BECAUSE EVERYTIME WHENEVER THE CAR IS TRAVELING THE SOLDERING ON THE MAP INSIDE THE CARD IS SLOWLY GETTING DAMAGED. SO, PUT THE CARD IN YOUR SHIT POCKETS. AVOID HURLING OR DROPPING THE CARD ON YOU COFFEE TABLE OR PUTTING IT AT THE BACK POCKETS OF YOUR TROUSERS--WHERE IT'S POSSIBLE TO SEAT ON IT.. YOU NEED TO TREAT THAT CARD LIKE AN EGG...IT IS SO MUCH WORK, BUT IT WILL STILL FAIL EVENTUALLY.😂😂
That’s exactly the problem, the connections were badly soldered at the factory, it’s a known fault. This video is just to show you you can open the key and put it back together rather than cutting it to bits
My Megane 3 key stopped working then i open it up and the coil was loose so i resolder it and try to start the car but nothing car gives the message “card not recognized”, so i decided to resolder whole board under the microscope and still getting message “card not recognized” does anyone have idea or solution how to fix that? The coil looks good but i cannot find any datasheet to check it out
Yep, spare key works like a charm, tomorrow will test transmitter IC and crystal with oscilloscope. I also suspect coil is faulty because when i probe between both end’s i got infinite resistance…
Yep, the coil is dead, i have ordered a new one then will replace it and see if it works, crystal gives 13.5Mhz as predicted. Also transmitter TDA5100 behaves according to datasheets characteristics.
What a bizarre disaster these Renault's are. I have an '06 Megane, same problem is surfacing. Gonna cost me the equivalent of 380 GBP to import from France!! Pity they aren't as diligent with their factory soldering as they are with the seal on the card which for a klutz like myself, looks akin to Fort Knox. Typical French, flamboyant & chic, but pragmatically crap. I just know if I try it, 'll have a fit half-way through & destroy it. Might see if I can employ a crafty person to replicate this effort...
You are correct they are rubbish and it seems so widespread, as a temporary measure you can wedge something in there with the card to help but it does take patience
@@ajinfrance I see virtually (maybe completely) identical ones are relatively easy to find online for about 25 GBP.... At the risk of peeing in the wind, would you know what mhz they are? Does 433 sound right? Much obliged.....
@@garypearn5886 I did buy a spare one from the internet but when it arrived it was 2mm thicker than the original. Because of this it frequently got jammed in the slot. It did work but I just used it as a spare for ekergencies. I don't know what frequency they are though. In short one can be bought and programmed if needed.

That's a really good idea, I hope people see this comment 👍👍👍

I’m glad it helped it’s not something I enjoy doing that’s for sure
My key is the same , opened it up and the coil fell out the case . Did soldering it straight back on fix this or not ?
@@cridsanegaming Both keys were repaired by soldering and function as intended.
Just going through this same problem dyad myself with an old Megan Scenic. Thanks for the video!!
No problems glad it helps
A really good patient video - works exactly as shown. Not easy, but feasible.
Thanks - it does take a lot of patience
huge help. I'm having a similar issue but unsure if its the card reader or the key itself. so I can now cut open (delicately) my key to clarify this.
3 Heineken in old money love it! More patience than me.
A very boring video, unless you happen to want to know how to fix a Renault key card, and then its probably a lifesaver :)
This worker! Got 2 working cards now, 1 was dead for like 2 years….
Cup of coffee on it’s way
I am glad it worked 👍👍👍👍
Thanks AJ, followed your instructions and got my key card working. Excellent 👌
You need a lot of patience so I am glad you got it work - nice job!
I did it bro. It's working. Thanks alot for the detailed tutorial.
Good work! It's not easy but if you take your time it pays off.
I owe you a beer man, thanks for the video. My key is working fine now 👍👍👍
Great stuff !! No problems
Thanks for the video. I'll see if this can fix my key 🙂
Good luck, just take your time and you will be fine. Let me know how it goes 👍👍

Hello AJ good job i'll do it later with my ESPACE 4.

@@ajinfrance Okay thank you
What to do when my press starter is giving me hard starting? In my renault megane
I honestly don't know without any more info. Try and hook up a scanner.
Thanks a million, Worked!!!
Great stuff thanks for letting me know
Thanks a very much I managed to repair for Clio 4

Thank you so much bro 😘😘😘😘
You're welcome

It's such a bad design. Unlucky if you still have a Mégane 👍👍👍

There are variations on this key that cannot be separated. I strongly advise against trying this if you only have one keycard.
Good advice, thanks for your comment.

just found the spare new one..thank god no 120 quid to fork out.. clio mrk3 here we go
