Living in western Canada there is always something special about seeing these old grain elevators standing tall in the open prairie. Whenever I see them they also remind me of the lighthouses that dot the coast line where I grew up. I enjoy capturing their images when I can because they are losing their battle with time. Each year more and more are dismantled or destroyed with very few preserved. Take care everyone and I will see you on the next!
These old grain elevators look so cool, formerly shaping the whole picture of this beautiful flat landscape. Nice variation of drone and ground shots and great narration, Wade.🤘👌
If you're curious, one of the Alberta Wheat Pool grain elevators restoration was finished this past year in Creston, BC. Growing up in Alberta, reminds me of my childhood every time I pass by it.
This was amazing and well presented, I like the channel and your content is great with in depth research into each video and this makes for a well presented video to enjoy. Till now my favorite is the Anyox videos and I found myself playing them for a third time since the weekend I found your channel online. Keep up the good work and travel safe. Nomad 😎
Much appreciated! I try to do the extra and give some info and history along the way. Yes Anyox was an amazing trip. I can't wait to find more amazing places like this. Thanks for your support!
Hi Wade new subscriber from the UK. Loved your anyox series was amazing to see such a beautiful place. Your filming is a major talent your videos are stunning to watch. Much love x
We have a lot of these in eastern Washington as well as old barns. It's always sad to see them disappear as it's part of my image of "home" to have them dot the fields
Those buildings are beautiful and so important in their day. At Water St and Queen St in Port Perry, Ontario, they have one and it's right downtown. It's restored a painted a beautiful red.
Great videography again! Is there any initiative from the government to preserve these buildings? One could argue they are part of the national cultural heritage, and soon everything will be gone if nothing is done...
@@ExploringwithWade Thank you! I grew up in northern Minnesota and we always considered Canadians to be our neighbors to the north. I really enjoy your explorations and I must add that the music you choose to accompany the videos is excellent!
Hi Wade, Has anyone considered petitioning the Heritage Minister to save these grain elevators, I.E. Adopt an elevator and restore them as heritage monuments? It was just a thought !!
Some are being saved and there are a number of them that are heritage sites now but most are privately owned and the owners just don't have the money and they become a liability.
@@ExploringwithWade That's why I asked about the Heritage Minister and money from the Govt to save those buildings. It seems they have a lot of money to throw around as of late, maybe if they used it properly we could cover them on way or another? It was just a thought.
No unfortunately not this time. The owner of the townsite buildings is different from the elevator and they don't want people over there and have had problems over the years.
These old grain elevators look so cool. I wish they were all being preserved as interesting historical reminders of a bygone era. I really enjoyed seeing and learning about this. Thanks for getting these landmarks on film before they disappear from memory.
I am happy that there are some out there that are preserved at least and others that are still standing to keep the memory alive of some of our history.

We lived between two grain elevators only miles apart when younger along the rail. To this day, one of them still remain. Thanks for the share.
Very cool! It is always great to see some still standing!
Beautifully filmed. Haunting reminders of a bygone era. Thank you for making this short documentary.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you very much!
Your cinematography and video editing is really high quality! Love this as a former Albertan!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you so much!

Yes I always enjoy seeing them on my travels. Thanks so much!
My parents were both born in Acadia Valley, Alberta. The elevator has always been a symbol of the community.
Nice thanks for sharing! They are always great to see when traveling.

Yes I love seeing them. It would look strange if these were all gone. Hopefully more can be saved.
I live right by Moreland elevator, Hard to believe it was once a bustling town.
Yes so many communities have dwindled or disappeared along with these beautiful elevators. Love seeing them out there.

Yes they sure are! It is always great to see some still standing and some being preserved.

*Very Interesting. 👍I don't recall ever seeing one of these in the northern states. Perhaps the movies is the only time.*
Thanks for stopping by. I love seeing them.

There are some that have been saved and preserved, yes. Would be nice to see much more of our history preserved, though.
A very interesting and enjoyable video, Wade. Does Western Canada retain its status as major producer of grain to this day? :)
Thanks so much! Oh yes it is still is. Probably 75% or more of all grain in Canada comes from 3 provinces in Western Canada.

dang dude..your videos are getting millions of views and still only 1 person on your patreon, sheesh
That's OK. People taking time out of their day to watch anything I create I very much appreciate.
Any chance you will have a video on Bents? From a brief fly around the grain elevator it looks like there is some other buildings there?
No unfortunately not this time. The owner of the townsite buildings is different from the elevator and they don't want people over there and have had problems over the years.
There's still one in Yorkton SK
Nice to see there are still some out there!
Fantastic! You do an amazing job.
Love the buildings and the history. Thank you!
Thank you very much! I appreciate it and have a wonderful day!

Thanks for showing the history of these grain elevators. They are beautiful! Hope your wife is feeling better.
Thanks so much and she is doing good. Take care!
it was sad to see the Bents elevator damaged after the storm we had. It was the first elevator I've ever climbed.
I am not sure about its current condition if it is still standing. Hopefully.
@@ExploringwithWade it’s still standing but there was lots of damage to the top part of it
Good video
Thanks for the visit!

How tall were these elevators, typically?
I think they range quite a bit, but I have seen mention 40 to 60 feet.
Beautiful video, it's interesting to see so much decay in what is really not that long of a time frame. Keep up the good work!
All part of the 'elites' Great Reset, destroy all history......
Thank you very much! I enjoy seeing them still stand out there in some of these communities.
