The spoon bow might work better with flat wounds, i think ... its making just too much scraping noise against the grooves of those standard wound strings. With a little less friction it might be a bit more musical. My favorite guitar hack is GHS fast fret. It cleans your strings to keep them from rusting and slicks down the fretboard and strings slightly so you can play faster with less work and friction. I think its basically just mineral oil. But there's probably some hand-friendly cleaning agent in there too.

For the third idea, there are cables that can transmit the rotation so you can leave the heavy motor on the floor and save your wrist. Spinning a guitar pick isn't exactly a high torque load.
@@Jabezrtpp They're actually called "flexible shaft extensions". I don't know if there is one that fits your drill, but they're very common with Dremel and other rotary tools. It's so much easier to do precise work when you don't have to hold the heavy, hot, and vibrating motor.
you'll get better results out of the spoon hack if you use violin rosin on the spoon. I've seen people do this with pens before to pretty great effect, me less so, but I think that's my technique rather than the effectiveness of the hack itself. do bear in mind that you will need a LOT of rosin before it'll work, as with a fresh violin bow.

@@Jabezrtpp They're actually called "flexible shaft extensions". I don't know if there is one that fits your drill, but they're very common with Dremel and other rotary tools. It's so much easier to do precise work when you don't have to hold the heavy, hot, and vibrating motor.
