It was a great place to live in the early days later 1970's. Living in the very first houses, and watching the streets get built up, the area was a building site and lots of land still around. The houses being built were our playground, we were pretty much free roaming kids back then. Started school there. Great memories
I lived in one of the first housos in Ironbark cres and started school at Guise public, until year 3. Had a great time back then, us kids played in all the houses being built. That was our playground. I'm 53 now lol. Such good times
That's crazy bro must of been hard to talk about that and live with yourself like that but i can see it good courage to tell your story,I was 20yo back then too and remember it on the news ,Good to hear your story
@miztatainment no. Idea now. But dad would have me and my younger sister, hanging outside the pub while num was at work in the same complex. Mid to Late 70's
Housing commission is definitely not fee housing, lol, especially if you or anyone in the household has a job, its income based, so if your unemployed due to disabilities or circumstance your rent is low, you will pay a little bit over half price of what people in normal houses pay , but if you work you pay market rent , that’s the same price as normal housing in the area. A lot of people who do work & stay in housing commission is because it’s a type of security net incase your employment suddenly ends or gets reduced for whatever reason ( the elderly residents like this ) & you don’t have to keep moving houses because the owner decides to sell it . Single parents are the main people in housing commission. Believe it or not alot of people in housing commission are paying the same amount of rent as the people in the private housing community. But yes alot of people do take advantage of the income based rent , especially the drug addicted people. Still though it is never free housing, far from it, & everything is made from the cheapest materials possible & breaks very easy, every room in the house is tiny & no garage ( 90% of houses ) & definitely no air conditioning, most don’t have antenna connections so you will need to sort all that stuff out for your self, believe me it’s not as good as it may seem to some .
Mad pod but the setup is so awkward u need a table where u both sitting across from the guest , the guest constantly having to look left and right looks so uncomfortable
