a genin is when you become a ninja and a chunin is when you pass the chunin exam and you become jonin when you have a lot of skills

Jonin is a high ninja rank but not the highest.
Here are the rankings: weakest to strongest
- Acadamy students (weakest)(not ninja yet)
- Genin (first ninja rank)
- Chunin (average ninja)
- Jonin (elite ninja)
- Hokage (Ninja village leader)
• Naruto and the rest of the kids are Genin since they just graduated the academy
