@47Driver - With Engine Condition Levers set to Ground, with Gen 1 & Gen 2 - Switch on _and_ the APU Gen & APU switched off, the MFDs and CDU-unit does not get power, so they do not work. Is this a correct power behavior or is it a faulty description and simulation of the CH-47F glass cockpit? Thanks for all the great content, you are a lifesafer for the Chinook-needy! ^^
This is correct. With the ECLs in ground the Main Generators attached to the AFT transmission are unable to produce AC electric power. Need to keep the APU and APU Gen on until both ECLs are in flight. Then turn on the #1 and #2 main generators prior to shutting down the APU and APU Gen.

@@47Driver I understand. Since this helicopter has almost everything in the MFD´s and it is not very easy to find the systems and how to activate them. I thought a tutorial for that would be good to see.
Hello, Great videos. Thank you for that. Can you please make a quick video on your joystick, set up, mapping controls, what curves you use, pedals, trims. etc. Do you use pedals with dampers? levels etc. Thank you so much.
Why does Hook operate distances in nm? Its an army helicopter and army operates in kilometers if I get it right. Thank you for your work, its very needed!
Unrelated to route building but one thing I noticed is that while trying to fly straight and level (With AFCS set to BOTH and force trim), the CH-47 tends to either pitch upwards or downwards when letting go of the stick, so I constantly have to correct it which can be really annoying. Have you noticed this as well? And if so, how have you dealt with it?
I have noticed this also. Flight model certainly needs some work but these pitch up/down transients are relatively accurate to what the real thing would do if AFCS was off. For longer routes you could have Bob fly for you to take some of that workload off.
AFCS works much better now with DCS 2.9.10.4160. Not sure if that version fixed it, but it's the version I upgraded to from an Oct 2024 version that didn't work well. With AFCS on, it's nice and steady now.
I was trying to fly level, I used the autostart so everything was on and it was either diving or climbing the whole time, I can hover it fine but I am not able to fly straight forward with constant pitch adjustments.

Again many thanks for this video. Currently going over this again and again and using the DCS mission editor to make a simple collection of waypoints on a map. Starting at an airfield. My question is I am not sure how to make the CH-47F fly those waypoints automatically ?. In MSFS 2020 many of the advanced helicopters have a Flight Director and you can set TRK ( Track) or Autopilot, or whatever equivalent to make the helicopter fly your flight plan, while you maintain altitude and speed. How do I select this in the Chinook ?. Is the Flight Director fully functional in this module to enable me to do this ?. I can see a flight director switch but it does not seem to do anything. The official manual describes the flight director button, but I cannot ascertain how to enable the Flight Director coupling to the DAFCS. its confusing to say the least. Any advice on this topic ?. When trying to land I almost always go down slowly, then a little faster, then suddenly I drop out of the sky like a stone with no ability to catch it. It seems to only happen when I try to land vertically. Does the hook need a bit of forward momentum to descend quickly? Is there a trick to catch it when falling? Thx
Try to avoid vertical approaches unless you're able to maintain a very low rate of descent. You're Settling With Power, meaning descending into your own rotor wash. If this happens again, try using pedal or lateral cyclic to escape it.
Vortex Ring State, right? It affects all helicopters, I think. Except when the rotor wash hits the ground, ground effect, right? When down within about a rotor disc's diameter from the ground? I wrecked a couple DCS Huey's this way, initially. I think one was when I was descending alongside a moving ship...that was moving with the wind. So, even though I was moving over the water, I had zero airspeed but didn't realize it. ...splash...kaboom!
I've been flying the 47 in dcs alot and twice i had a low fuel warning even with 60 percent still in the tanks and soon after, both engines failed. is there a cross-feed i am not seeing?
@paulsheather7657 currently the AUX tanks do not function, so you're missing out on about half your fuel. The Crossfeed should function but won't make a difference in this case as both main tanks are burning evenly, you're just not getting positive transfer from the AUX tanks into the mains.
