Great review, liked how comprehensive it was with info and testing. Do you know how this compares to the FiFine K688? I can't really seem to find much difference between this mic and that one besides physical design.
Thanks for the feedback. I haven’t gotten my hands on the k668 yet. As a dynamic mic the k688 would be very comparable to the am8 in terms of audio quality. It think it really balls down to the style and features you prefer.
Depends on your usage. The RGB AmpliGame AM8 has more efficient noise reduction for the deeper lows, which makes it quite useful for gaming in a noisy environment. The K688 has a decent appearance and the more balanced bass and mids give it a more neutral tone for voice-over, podcasting, or even vocal recording.
Hello there! Highly entertaining review! I had a quick question. Which of these is better at cancelling out some background noises like AC hum and far off traffic? Assuming I'm going to use noise suppression settings as you have mentioned through OBS.
The AmpliGame AM8 will be the best choice for its deep lows, if you don't need the XLR port, you also can choose K658 which provides even better noise rejection.
what do you think is a better deal? Fifine a6t with mic stand, or am8, I personally play valorant and talk on discord so which do you think would be a better option for me
I think the A6t will suit your scenario. Sounds like you need a condenser mic. The AM8 will need to be close to you for better pickup. With the a6t You’ll be a little more free to rage throw your controller, go after it yelling and people can still hear you across the room👍🏽😂
Really? What does it sound like? Has to either be a setting or a defective mic as this sounds good out of box. Try dialing down the gain on the mic itself and raise volume from your external source.
can you tell me what settings you use for obs to optimize this mic i just got it and currently i have to use NVidia broadcst to get my audio to be good but it also uses additional resources
In OBS I use the noise suppression filter as well as a small amount of compressor. The mic itself just shines for me with very little tweaking outside of that.
@@TekToyzGaming hows about you gain on the mic itself? i did notice obs sound suppression still picks up my mouse pick ups and tapping on the desk. nvidia broadcast makes it virtually gone
I have my gain relatively high since it’s a quieter mic. I try to get it as high as I can before I get distortion. If I notice some distortion I’ll drop just enough to be at that threshold. I should try next video with nvidia broadcast if possible. See which suppressor is better.
I have a budget boom arm that stands on the floor. Bought it over a year ago on Amazon. This mic will fit any boom arm really. It will mount just like any other mountable mic. Uses a 3/8” thread.
Pretty much any standard boom arm would work. Compatible with 3/4 and 5/8. If you want to be flashy check out the Tonor T90. Sorta budget friendly. ua-cam.com/video/BV1Pu4oHmOQ/v-deo.html

Dynamic microphones are quieter than condenser generally. The A8 has more pickup than the am8. However condensers also pick up more noise if not adding a noise suppressor of some sort. I didn’t edit volume in post at all. I just had the volume cranked up on pc and mic itself to 100%.
Nice. Thanks. Liked and subbed :) Question: How far can you go away (approx. in inches/cm)from the mic to still have it sound ok? I currently use (well my wife for streaming) a shotgun mic (Boya BY-MM1+ which is similar to the rode camera mic) but having quite some noticeable interference even with a super short cable going directly into my camera. It is for gaming so it should not be too close to the face - I am using a mic boom from above.
Thanks for the sub! So I was just putting together a video comparing the am8 to the a8 and found that the sound quality starts to degrade after around 3 feet. You start to get room echo and such if your room is not treated. This one is best when used closer. That’s why they made it pretty so it looks cool in-shot.
Hi i have a another q i want to record vocals and record instrument.. now which microphone should i buy? Shure Sm58 / shure Sm57 / fifine Am8 / fifine k658 / fifine k88?
You really can’t go wrong with any of the the Shure mics there if you’re willing to spend the money. I do think you get more bang for your buck with the Fifine mics and they are not trailing too far behind the shure sm57/58.
That is correct they are xlr. If you don’t have an audio interface than you’re really better off with probably the k658 or k688 rather than converting xlr to usb.
@@donnynguyen discord has its own built in noise suppression feature. If that works well enough for you then no need to have another application running in the background. Though OBS does have more sound filters than discord.

Hi i recieved my fifine am8 right now and i have a question about how i use this if i plug this mic in Audio Mixer with XLR connection?? i mean how will this work without power???
It doesn't require phantom power, you can use the mic with sound card, audio interface, mixer via XLR connection and you don't need to turn on the phantom power of the device.

Good question. I haven’t tried them all, but the one in this video is the best I’ve tried so far. I can literally do a video with it and not have to edit the audio at all in post. All the audio you hear from it in this video is unprocessed except for the noise cancellation at the end.
The rgb is automatically powered by usbc. There is no companion software to manage the RGB to turn it off. The RGB is off by default in xlr mode only. I’ll update if I find some workaround to turn it off.
Ok so confirming with this mic you can long hold the RGB button for 3 seconds and it will turn off the light 👍🏽. Had to make sure as I have others that don’t turn off this way.
Yea it really is a good mic. I don’t think the knobs on the mount are meant to keep it ultra stiff as it doubles as a shock mount. It needs some flexibility to work as such. But if you hit the mic it will move some.
I do think the S sounds were a bit harsh but that could certainly be fixed with some filtering and effects
