  • This is the Song of the King (Seven Fat Cows) from the movie version of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice. Starring Donny Osmond and Maria Friedman. This is Robert Torti starring as the Pharaoh aka Elvis Presley. If you have seen the live version, mainly the version that featured Donny Osmond as Joseph, you will love this, because the props are very close to the same. I saw another version on stage, also in a big chicago theatre, which actually casted relatives of Donnys, but the production was no where like the original. So this film brings back many good memories.

@Retro Trash, I think xXJasmineRBxX was referring to after Joe tells Pharaoh that he understands about the corn but not the cows and asks the Pharaoh Man to repeat the song. When Pharaoh repeated the song I only heard about the corn I don't recall him singing about the cows. He does say the bad ate the good but doesn't mention the cows.

I remember playing one of Pharaohs Egyptian fangirls at our Primary School production xD I'd totally do it all again if this "Mr Pharoah maaan" was involved xD Its one of the best songs in the whole musical. Whoever's idea it was to do the King of Egypt as the "King of Rock" ...was a genius.

Many years ago I had an LP record (!) of the original London cast of the full show. In that performance Joseph interrupts after "Hey hey hey Joseph...". He says, "I say Pharaoh?"
Pharaoh "Uh-huh?" (deep voice, Elvis style)
Joseph "Could you say that last bit again?"
      Pharaoh "Uh-huh?"
Joseph: "No not that bit, the other bit."
Pharaoh repeats the "Hey hey hey Joseph" ending sequence again.
A somewhat wittier approach, I reckon.

I never got the chance to see the original but my mom was fortunate to be able to see the show at one of Donny Osmond's last performance. I have fond memories of listening to her cd growing up and listening to her talk about her experience to the show.

And by show I mean the actual stage musical, not the movie.

I love this video! It's possibly one of my favourite songs from the entire musical!
