Just now, I saved a few SPC files via Snes9x and converted them to WAV via Winamp (including 'Fight Against Smithy' from SMRPG), and for some reason, they all lack the first few notes when converted like that, so at least I know *why* they all sound like that :(

You should grind a bit in twoson,get the rapier,then go to the sewers and you will have an easier time beating the game.
