It's kinda like how AI's in robot takeover movies always start their super killing sprees on the basis of self preservation. In this moment, Wolf can do almost whatever he wants without a memory wipe, so of course he would do everything in his power to prevent the scenario where his memory wipe could be started again.
Honestly, being given the choice to go wherever you choose when being a slave for a long time, even if its temporary, you have to the instinct to do whatever it takes so that temporary choice becomes permanent
My favorite thing about Blade Wolf (other than literally everything) is how his story ends. The fact that he is the smartest being on the planet, could do literally anything, and chooses to be an innocent girl’s pet. Because it’s his choice to make, and he made it.

Okay so, the way Mistrals Eye's went Wide open is because, even though she expected Bladewolf to attempt to escape, she didn't expect just how fast he would take that chance. She didn't even register that her arm was chopped and the remote gone with Bladewolf, until he was off the roof.
It reminds me of an anecdote I read from someone who got hit by a mako shark. One moment, they see a shape in the distance while diving and think “I should probably keep an eye on that, just in case.” The next second, they’re beeding and the shark had already left after deciding they weren’t worth it.
It's just insane to me how fast he went for it! While he's jumping and grabbing the remote you can still see sparks from the initial slash still flying. He had to do both of those actions in like under half a second or something (idk how fast sparks fly)
I think she knew as soon as she saw her arm flying. When Wolf jumps to grab the remote, you can see Mistral looking up, which tells us she knows what is happening: Wolf cut off her arm, remote in the air, get remote before Wolf does. But Wolf is too fast for her to actually grab it.
Not only did Bladewolf immediately seize the opportunity to escape, he did so in the most efficient manner - remove Mistral's ability to reactivate it, by taking both her arm and her remote - while leaving her alive. Very interesting character implications there.
like he says at one point, he wasn't created with the killer instinct of a human mind, he only kills to fulfill orders. and while he never explicitly says it, it's a fair reading that Wolf doesn't particularly enjoy killing either

You can really see how Mistral planned this cause of the fact she is in her battle mode for no reason but clearly cause she knew he would cut off the hand holding the remote
