  • A TV lift cabinet to hide the bathroom TV when it's not in use.
    Here is a link to the TV lift that is bolted inside the cabinet:

    And here is a link to the hinges that I used on the lid (I only used 3 hinges from the 10 pack):

    Great video. Thank you. Wish you'd shown the entire build though....including installing the acutal lift and how you attached the curved bar to open the lid.

    This is EXCELLENT!! I was thinking about opening up a half-wall that separates our kitchen from our dining room and fitting (somehow) the TV lift system into a widened version of that half-wall partition. But your idea about building a separate cabinet I like better. Really appreciate your putting the effort into recording and providing this how-to video of your project idea. Many thanks.

    Could use little bit of wood filler to cover up the slots.

    Did you add the lift guide on the top yourself? When I look at the one in the link I don't see that it comes with that one just the flat top, and I am looking for one that can be used like yours with the hinged top.

      The one I ordered came with the lift guide. It's just a piece of black metal strip with a cane-shaped bend and a soft fabric on it to slide the top open. My problem was that if I attached it as intended it stuck up too tall and it didn't hit the lid in exactly the right place. It would probably work fine for many applications but I ended up having to bend it and attach it slightly different than intended. If I had made my cabinet taller I wouldn't need to do that but I wanted to cabinet to fit under that window sill. Hope that helps.

    I am looking to build a cabinet like this for my office. However I need a component shelf. Have you found a way to add a shelf? I would appreciate any help on that.

    • @sawdustworkshop
      @sawdustworkshop  Місяць тому

      You could build a component shelf on the very bottom under the lift. That would get a little complicated but certainly could be done. If you make the cabinet deep enough you could also build a component shelf that gets lifted with the TV.

    I wondered if you could help us. We purchased a very nice cabinet with a TV lift about 8 years ago. All went well until our little remote quit working about a month ago. We took the remote to a local place where they put in a new battery. So the remote seems fine, but will not connect to the lift in the cabinet and raise the TV. My husband had to get into the rear of the cabinet and manually open the top cabinet door and then raise the TV using the button inside the cabinet (the one on the lift itself). That works just fine. It's the remote that doesn't seem to work. What could be the problem? If you're not able to help, can you direct us on who to call regarding this problem. We can get the TV down and the top door shuts, but then opening the door and raising the TV using the remote is the problem. All seems to work except the remote. For now the TV is raised until we can fix this problem. Sorry for being so wordy. It's a mystery to us grandparents who don't know a lot about technology.

      Either the remote is not putting out a signal or the lift is not listening to the signal. Do you know the model number? There is one trick to tell if an infrared remote is working. Cell phone cameras can see infrared light. Turn on your cellphone camera, point the remote at the camera, and watch the cellphone screen for a flashing light at the end of the remote. Try it with a known good remote first (like a TV remote) so you understand what I'm saying. Then try it with the TV lift remote. If you see light, the remote is probably working fine. If you don't see light then the remote could be broken and you may be able to get a replacement. Let me know how it goes!

    Do you have a video of how the lift was installed? What brand of lift did you purchased and how has it held up?

      @sawdustworkshop  Місяць тому

      Hi, there is a link to the lift in the video description. It just sits inside the cabinet and 4 screws hold it to the back of the cabinet. If you look at the end of the video you can see it just sitting in there bolted to the back. Thanks for watching!

    Did you bolt it to the wall after it was done? I would like to make something like this but I am worried that it will wobble while in use

      You could maybe weight the bottom a bit but bolting it sounds better

    • @sawdustworkshop
      @sawdustworkshop  4 місяці тому

      I didn't because it was very stable. The base of the lift gave plenty of weight to keep it stable. I put a board across the back to anchor it but didn't need it.

    why there is no info about lifter ?!!!

    • @sawdustworkshop
      @sawdustworkshop  9 місяців тому +1

      Great point. I've added a link to the lift in the video description. It was a VEVOR lift, costs about $180. I didn't get any footage of mounting the lift in the cabinet but it is just four bolts on the base and two bolts on the rear wall of the cabinet.

    • @sawdustworkshop
      @sawdustworkshop  Місяць тому

      This was a 55 inch TV. It was one we already had so I built the cabinet around that size. I'll have to measure, but it's roughly 12 inches deep then about 6 inches taller than the TV and about 6 inches wider than the TV. I think those dimensions would stick for about any size of TV. My main suggestion is to be sure to get the lift, mount the TV, and measure for the inside dimensions of the cabinet before you build. It will change with different TV brands and different lift dimensions. Thanks for watching
