Which has been done by all of the names I mentioned above, and all of them did it infinitely better on a technical, melodic and, lyrical way. He hasn’t evolved his art since he changed it from Christian rap. It’s the same formula, and same song over and over again. Every album, and every song, is the same shit.
Honestly what I think is that NF is not a try hard and is just trying to make music for himself and his loyal fans who understands him, he doesn't care if he get fame or If people like his music. I get that his music is not that Cathy and words don't rhyme that much but what I care about is only the words the lyrics it's so impactful and I can relate to it spiritually and even teared up listening to few of his songs. NF is my favourite rapper and nothing will ever change that. He’s the best and he opens minds and tells people that they are not alone. He’s saving my life
Not only for the mentally ill, but the message he gives to our youth is better than any other artist out now. He is now making moves and showing how he’s been in the lab. You are of course allowed your own opinion on his technical skills or whatever it is you are going on n about, but what you are missing is good music is meant to move the soul, connect with your feelings and take you to another part of yourself you didn't know was possible in a matter of mins and NF built an entire movement, empire and die hard following based on that alone!!! Music that makes a person FEEL and connects to their soul is rare!! He is a once in a lifetime artist and to not acknowledge that shows me you really don't understand music at all. Screw techniques or ryhme sequences you're missing the whole point that is NF.
Other artists have done what he has done better. Most of NF's fanbase are just people who haven't heard much other hip hop and leech onto him because he's white. He really isn't a "once in a lifetime artist" in that sense.
your missing the point of the video lmao. the title is literally "nf is not a good rapper", this video is about his skills and merit as a rapper, its not about whether his music holds artistic value in other ways. Its about how good his rap is, and so it would be silly to not talk about technic and wordplay. you can like nf all you want rebecca, but the fact of the matter is, this video makes valid criticism. if you don't care about the critisms he is making, that fine to, but in that case, i don't really think you understand rap and hip hop music genre.

You're compairing NF's material that he released in his early years, to Eminem's new projects? hes had so much growth through The Search. Most of your "points", you take Mansion and Therapy Session (his first 2 big projects) and compairing them to Eminem's 9th i think? Around there. His music has never aimed at big wordplay (in his CLOUDS songs he does have a lot of word play but that's after your review so lets not count that), its never been about super over the top word play but more towards emotional meaning. You really shouldnt compare Eminem's new shit with NF's old material though! Eminem's first albums werent with a lot of wordplay either, it was just controversial and lots of rhymes... you have no clue what youre talking about dude... his instrumentals/style is insanely unique and powerful.
Comparing nf which is still in his early years of his career compared to Eminem which has been making music for 25 years seems kinda unfair also the more late 90s hip hip is really a different kind of music compared to what nf is making and you’re comparing one man to the entire industry
NF has been releasing music since 2015, he has 4 albums and a mixtape, calling him new is just dishonest coping. You can enjoy his music, no one hates you for being a fan, it's just OG fans hoped for a lot more from him musically.
@@tahamohammedi5898 once again, you really can’t compare them. Even before his first album I’m pretty sure he was already rapping for 12 years and doing rap battles and stuff. Eminem’s always been good. And NF’s got his own style of rap.
The thing that's different about NF and other rappers, he created his own lane, there's no other artist, especially in rap, that digs into the mind the way he does. You're looking at him from a practical emotionless perspective. His fans knows he doesn't have the most intricate lyrics, it's the way he words it so that it's relatable, he doesn't need to be the "rap god" he's opening minds up to deal with their mental health issues, in that he may not be the most talented rapper, but he's certainly the most talented artist I've ever encountered. Idk if you understand how bad some of our mental health can be, but Nate has dug into our minds through his music, he tells us we're not alone. That right there deserves more respect than any of these rappers or main stream artist.
That alone shows how little rap music you actually listen to. Rap artist have been making conscious music that intrigues the mind since before NF was born. @@nasirthesenatejohnson6935 I agree. Look at Kanye West. He had entire albums dedicated to mental health and sadness, but he does it in a much more interesting style. Every NF beat is a violin and 808s, those are NF beats. And the whole rapping fast thing isn't impressive to me anymore. Look at rappers like Kendrick Lamar. One of the greatest, and he makes rap about faith, struggles, addiction, mental health, and his life in general. I have always thought NF fans were very uneducated in rap music, just me though I guess.
In terms of technicality, I’m actually insanely impressed by NF. He has a lot of shit that goes way back to his oldest songs, and he makes insane wordplay off of it. He used a trashbag bar that went something like “my fans know i’m probably buried somewhere in a black trash bag” or something similar. Which goes back to a “bury me in a black trash bag” bar he used before. I can’t remember where and when specifically it’s happened, but I’m sure you can look it up and see what I mean.

bro looking at these comments and watching this video made me realize i see music in a different way than many people. If i like the beat, and the artist isnt saying random weird shit, i like the song.
I've grown up listening to hiphop, both commercial and underground stuff, so a different backstory than you.. But.. NF is not the best lyricist. I will say he's getting way better with his new stuff from 2021. But that's not the 'be all end all' of being a rapper. His delivery is pretty good, and his cadence is getting very good. And, for me it's also a question of whether I would play a particular song over and over. And I do find myself going back to his songs over and over... He and his producer Tommy has developed a style that is pretty unique. And the way he builds up a song nowadays.. From low intensity to high, to the payoffs, is pretty awesome actually. So no. NF doesn't suck. He is not a bad rapper. But he's definitely not the best rapper. Does he make catchy songs that warrants repeat listens? Yes, absolutely.
@@endgame6782 it depends. I listen to lupe fiasco songs over and over to unwrap the double n triple meanings. Others may repeatedly listen to nf because the repeated vulnerability resonates with them
yeah I agree with this. The main point made against NF were about his lyrics being not having the most rhymes as physically possible and that some are corny. The corny one is fair and so were the ones about lines that weren't related to another like the one with visual criminal political etc. However I think the part where he critiqued this "last year had a breakdown, thoughts tellingm e I'm lost getting too loud, had to see a therapist and I found out something funny's goin on up in my house" for not having doulbe rhymes on the final two syllables was a bit silly. Like just because you can doesn't mean you should. I think aesthetically those lines worked really well imo and it's never bothered me. It's the kind of thing you only get bothered by if you're looking for rhymes wherever possible but I would say you don't have to do that in rap. Like the instrumentals work really well with NF and clearly to this guy to be a good rapper stops at your level of technical lyricism. I still think NF is a great storyteller and his production meshes really well with his songs.
As a newcomer in rap, that has started his journey with NF and is in love with some of his latest songs I have to say, that this video is very "educational". The fact, that you tell your point of view with an explaination for his defects and respect NF at the same really gets me. Thanks to you I have a new perspective on Nathan's music. You also gave some examples of rappers, that I haven't heard of and I'll definetly check them out. Thanks.
I don't think this was a particularly fair review. You're comparing NF to Eminem, one of the greatest rappers and lyricists of all time, just because he took inspiration from Eminem does not mean they are comparable. In "When I grow up" he literally says "Yeah, I might not be the best in my field But I guarantee that I'ma die real", I think you're missing the point and nitpicking for insane Eminem style bars with in reality NF makes good songs, what he lacks in insane lyricism he makes up for in his ability to make a catchy hook, and the fact that he has relatable subject matter. For instance, if we are going to judge talent purely on how insane the word play and bars are, you could argue Juice WLRD isn't very good, his Emo Punk Trap Rap style could come across very corny, most of his songs don't have insane lyricism, but rather Juice made songs that you could feel his passion and emotion behind, the same sort of passion and emotion you can feel behind NF's music. I think you're just mistaking his drive and desire to be the greatest with him actually thinking he's a master class lyricist. Stop overthinking and just enjoy it for what it is.
I mean he’s proven throughout literally everything he’s released (4 complete albums, multiple mixtapes) that his flow is a bit uncreative and he can’t really come up with original bars. His lyricism is a miss. There are people who have maybe 2 albums and less time in the game that have more creative flows and production than he does. I was an OG fan, found him 7 years ago in 2015, and was hoping to watch him grow but it seems he only stays where he is. I want him to evolve and grow as an artist but it’s almost a decade now and he seems to be rooted to the spot and hasn’t bothered to improve any of the criticisms of his music. I don’t think it’s insane to compare Eminem and NF, I mean, flows have adapted and changed over time but are we really to discount a comparison just because someone has a bit more experience than the other? It’s just basic creativity and it should be what gets someone into rap in the first place. This medium should be word play at its finest but I just find myself disappointed with him time and time again. I get that he can make good songs, but that DOESNT make him a good RAPPER. Just because he discusses real issues doesn’t mean we can’t dissect his flow and critique him in the hopes he improves. This just seems so mean spirited for an essay in which the guy clearly wished the best for NF. We all do.
I honestly personally love nf and support him and his music, he took place in my life and helped me with specific mental issues. I get that you have you're own opnion and perspective, but the title of the video just says so much.
You want him to sound as other rappers do, yo I guess he is different and his style is what we look for and love... All I can say is you have bad taste for good things...
Just listened to him for the first time, about 10 songs. Everything just sounds so generic, hes like pasta with no sauce, not terrible but doesnt leave me wanting more.
and just to clarify. I like the man himself, he seems like a very good person, he seems like an amazing husband and a great friend someone I wouldn't mind meeting. I was an NF fan for a very long time, so I say this with no bias or personal hate towards him, it's just that the more my music taste grew, the less and less i enjoyed his music, and now I know a good bit about music, far more than I did before. And now, I still relate to his music so fucking much, but I really can't even so much as stand it anymore.
Music is not about counts.. or numbers.. its about feeling... the counts or only a brake down of what it is. Math is the closest thing we have to understand what God has made... but agen.. Music is about feeling.. explain... not numbers
They're pretty and have giant egos. That's why they think just because they think NF us the greatest lyrical miracle he must be even though lyrically he's average. He's a great person but they overrate him badly imo
Because he's saying NF isn't a good rapper just because he isnt lyrically on par with arguably one of the greatest rappers of all time. While I personally think theres better rappers out there than him. Just because he isn't lyrically the best. That doesn't mean he's bad. Theres so much more that goes into his music and music and general. He's shouldve titled the video, "Why NF isn't the best lyricist". That would make more sense.
I get that many people wouldn't like his style, his lyrics and beat selection are very grounded and unique. But despite that, even if i'm not an NF fan, i'd still not consider him a "not good" rapper, his music is very different and newcomers really have to dig in his lyrics and instrumental to really know what he can bring to the table
I disagree, I think he is a rapper for people who are very new, and haven’t explored the “good side” of hip hop. Like the people who have heard rap on the radio, and weren’t hating it so they tried to find more. Then they don’t realize how bad NF is until they find more music, and break out of their bubble of unknowingness. Like if juice world is a rapper that a lvl 0 can enjoy, NF is for lvl 25-50. If that makes sense
@@yeeyee9294 funny, i listened to the "good side" first and settled at NF, it's subjective really. He is not a bad rapper by any means, it's just that not everyone likes him

Juice Wrld songs are extremely easy to be caught on, it's great for partying and vibing, any fans whether from hiphop or pop can find it appealing. NF is good in another way, he is extremely complex in terms of lyricism and beats producing, his music is more about narrative rather than sound good, a lot of his fans can resonate with him because his storytelling is very relatable, genuine and the overall style is so unique that it distants himself from the core hiphop fans.

Hi this is Styx and I really like nf because of the topics his songs cover. It’s not just all “women drugs guns and partying”. I find that the topics are more deep and that I can actually relate to them.
That's true! And as I said, he is definitely helping a lot of people by his specific choice of topic in mental health. However, I think if you are looking for artists with clean topics, more than just women, sex, drugs, and partying, there are many other artists you could choose too. I think a lot of Chance the Rapper's stuff generally has better topic choices, like NF does. Chance's song "Long Time II" is a good example of a discussion about mental health and his faith. Logic is similar. 1-800 is in the same vein. *THAT BEING SAID* I'm not trying to get anyone to stop liking NF. You are entitled to your opinion because in the end, it's all just art and art is subjective. If you enjoy his music, that is 100% okay. Good for you.
@@candydude2048 Stylistically, Token and Tech N9ne are fantastic places to start. Topically, Logic's Everybody album has more creative themes than the average rap song. Andy Mineo's The Arrow EP talks a lot about his own mental health as well. Nas' album Illmatic is more oldschool hip-hop but has no songs that are about anything cliché or overdone. Brockhampton's Saturation is beautiful too.
“he has so much potential, he just doesn’t understand so much” LMAOOOOO this was a really weird vid tbh. you nit pick his lyrics so hard it’s sort of embarrassing. eminem had a line on his new album that goes “like a liars pants i’m on fire”. i can tell you straight up that is worse than ANY line NF has ever written.
The most unworthy person to have a picture with NF lmao, also I’d like to add that I don’t listen to the search for rhyme schemes, I listen to hit cause it helps me feel not alone and it’s relatable, I respect your opinion but disagree with it greatly
i really have no words for this, NF is about so much more than just rhyming and flowing well (which i'd argue he already does), he's about REAL music. music that inspires never giving up. music that shows a desire to make others feel heard. music that CHANGES LIVES. did u miss the entire point of the "therapy session" record you bought? he has every right in the world to believe he's the best rapper, and even if he truly isn't, that was NEVER the point of his career. he's not doing this to make entertaining music that sounds good, he does it as a therapy for himself and his fans. that's why so many people love him. you wanna see the work you were talking abt at 9:43? look at his career man. literally look at how far he's come. wanna talk about how NF didn't have the "greater understanding" at 10:44? look at how many people didn't give up because he understood them first. this man is saving lives. if you can't see the value of this man's music past insignificant technical flaws, that's your problem.
Dude listened to fucking kamikaze the definition of a mid album and it changed his opinion about the whole genre. Also just because u think a lot of rappers are better than nf doesn't mean he is bad
The Fanbase Will Call Him The Best Rapper Of All Time... NF Is Excellent At Making Tunes That Consist Simple (not complicated) Rhyme Schemes Yet Leaving An Impact... PS:Garbage Was A Strong Word 🙂
Ok so I am not just going to dislike your video because you dissagree with me but I am defending my opinion considering I love nf. You talked mainly about his rhymes and saying the lyrical miracle son which yeah that kinda sucks but everything in that song is great. To the cinematic beat that hooks you to the rest of the lyrics that constantly get stuck in your head it's a great song imo. You also mentioned that he says I have a doctor but I ain't got no patient's on one of his songs he says it differently which for me works enough. You also mention he makes the last 2 rhyme and you probably know more about music then I know do but from my experience as a critic it all matters about the flow. If the flow is rough and bumpy it doesn't land for me at all but I think that nf has great flows for the most part. I respect your opinion but I definitely disagree NF FOR LIFE.
lol. I've been listening to rap and hip hop since the 80's. Everything from underground to mainstream. NF holds his own. Interesting that you pick apart his rhymes while praising Eminem. Eminem's recent work is just what you accused NF of. If he's spitting fast it's mostly gibberish. When he slows down his flow is choppy, and his voice sounds like angry Big Bird.

Its funny because NF acknowledges that Motivated was his worst song. His growth as an artist goes so beyond lyrical tech skills, its about his story and growth as a person. That's why he's good.
I personally think that NF is the best rapper out there. You want him to rap? He can rap, you want him to sing? He can sing, you want both? I bet he could. Just like Will Smith he doesn't even need to swear to make and sell good music. His songs helped me and many others so much in life. The lyrics of his songs are very relatable, he has helped so many through his music, and when Hospin and Tech N9ne got featured on some songs with him, they didn’t say ONE swear word on any of those tracks and that shows that he’s getting more respect from Hip-Hop before our very eyes. Also doesn't understand that rap not only focuses on rhymes but also message. just wow.... someone who didn't listen to some of the most iconic rappers for years tries to tell me, who listened to them since I was 8 years old, who is good and who is bad..... edit: yeah Eminem put some weird extreme rhymes in his songs, but this is also a reason why some people don't like him as much as they used to. It is complicated to catch every rhyme and why he pronounces things like does. Eminem is a Rapgod, but some people like meaningful songs they can listen to while driving, cooking or whatever. It's a good thing you aren't important enough for anyone to make a video critiquing your music because, and I'm only saying this you used the word "garbage" to describe NF, your music is just that. But I still respect your opinion, just disagree
ok i will say he stated his opinion fine!.......now he has listened to every classic album he said...i see there's no image of Tupac...who is arguably one of the most influential rapper and is relevant till today....we saw that recently...how tupac's music was played for the protests in "Black Lives Matter"....ok and he was never a crazy lyricist....and whom did you compare NF to?......Mos Def ..Eminem...MF DOOM...Kendrick...bruh..they are the best lyricists ever to exist....ok so..he is not a good rapper...cuz he ain't a top tier lyricist.....then there should be no place for Drake....50 Cent...Asap Rocky...Tyler.....and probably 90 percent of the new school rappers.....tf......you are yourself saying he has an impact through his music....ok and we completely ignore the metaphorical videos of NF and his deep symbolism....wow man...anyone is a good rapper if he/she has substance in their music.....every rapper doesn't have to be super lyrical...or have to have....mind boggling bars like Lupe.....expand the way you are listening to Hiphop...cuz this was the mentality of me 4 years ago....NF's deep and simplistic lyrics...his metaphorical videos and symbolistic visuals....adding to his dark trap choir type beats is what make him special...the portrayal...of why he isn't a good rapper...based on rhymes....completely bullshit....NF grew up with no features...and working tirelessly....he has put quality music over and over again.
The problem here is that NF isn’t really hip hop. He presents his music through the medium of rap, but appeals to a different crowd and uses other styles of music (sometimes more poppy or orchestral). Imagine a country music fan criticizing Kanye for not having enough twang in his music, that’s what you sound like. Sure, NF is bad at hip-hop, but I don’t think NF is really hip-hop in the first place.
He is hip-hop. That’s the culture his music is centred around and the culture he is profiting from. To me it feels that he’s putting his music under a different name because hiphop culture has rejected him. Also a huge number of artists blend multiple genres like soul and jazz with hiphop and aren’t appealing to a fanbase outside of hiphop. (if we ignore cultural context that connects rap, jazz, soul etc.)
nf is better than eminem also you have no right to say he is not good at word play when u dont even do anything music wise that even worth being in existence u have no skill
Did he Said that on a technical level his music is garbage. Did state that as an opinion but spoke it as an expert, maybe an expert opinion as best. Claims Andy Mineo legendary. AM is good but so is NF. Moving on.
NF is dope, he’s real. He dares to write songs about how ppl sometimes feel fragile, and he’s not afraid of showing he’s real side. Not like those rappers, they only brag themselves too much in their songs. They all forget what is real rap is.
Eminem and NF are two completely different artists. Eminem is obviously wealthy and has profited well from being a shit talker. I've read the comments and I agree with more than a few. I used to connect with Eminem's music especially when I was younger but it all sounds the same anymore. Yes, he is amazing with word flow I dont know if he will ever have a comparison. I look to music I can connect with. NF uses his platform to speak on issues internally and its pretty noble. I need some food for thought- not a diss album (as much as I do appreciate and like Eminem). I think thats why I haven't really picked up much secular music nowadays, I just let youtube guide me based off of my interests.
@James , what makes them corny? And what makes them generic? Ive never heard another album like Mansion for it to be generic. But give me some insight also what does corny mean in this context?
Hi, I've been looking into videos on NF for research purposes and just wanted to say I understand your opinion. That being said, I still think NF is a very skilled rapper with good range and technicality, but as some said before, his music isn't just lyrical skills. If NF was focused more on skills than anything else, he would look and sound almost completely different. As some have already said, relatability and introspection are what make him a good rapper beyond just syllables and rhyme schemes. But even so, videos like this help me understand different perspectives on NF and I respect your opinion.
I listen to Eminem and other creators who are supposedly better than NF when I'm with my friends but I get tired once in a while and visit NF and I enjoy his music alone.
I don’t like all of NFs music but songs like “Let you down” make me feel a certain way that not a lot of rap does nowadays. A vast majority of rappers are fake and just saying things for clout, Rapping about money, Bitches, Guns, Drugs, Promoting violence and BS etc so I respect NF for not jumping on that bs hype train.
I'm a huge fan of Em but I would never hate nf cuz of eminem...u know what I mean? I would definitely hate other rappers 4 eminem but nt nf...I'm in love with his music ...I like rap with hope n lesson nt jst stories n rhyme ...n his voice is the best... the coolest voice I hv ever heard
That’s the thing nf also knows how to respect other artists, he doesn’t try to overtake the artists he does a song with, he lets them take lead in the song, examples of this are the songs lost with hopsin, and trust with tecn9ne
The funny thing is he doesn't, our generation decided that he is because we relate to him, we decide who we like and we chose nf because of the message he puts out. Rap isn't always rhyme. He said it himself in when I grow up "I admit the lyrics are week, I've been working on em, I'll be good eventually" he knows he has some things to work on he doesn't put out this image as if he's the best. We consider him to be the best because we relate to the meaning.
@The guy I’m sure they’re out there. But how about trying to find me a Eminem fan who isn’t white? They exist, but there isn’t that many. It’s pretty simple to understand, there’s enough black rappers out there that black people tend to stick with them. Now, I don’t know about other ethnicity’s, but it’s probably because they listen to other genres of music over rap.
@@calebleach7988 no I’ll make it simple for you. White people trample all over rap with that lame ass stiff ass corny ass suburban ass “lyrical, miracle, spiritual” type of rap.
He’s mid imo, could be better but I think he is trying to hard to develop what isn’t ready yet.
Your music palate is probably really limited to keep returning to NF songs over and over again - 90% of his music is really similar😂
I think NF is one of the best rapper
White people found this video LMFAO
LOOOOOL
Bruh DONT EVER INSULT FUCKING JUICE WRLD ATLEATS HIS 🎶 MUSIC IS STILL RECOGNIZED SERIOUSLY! AND WAS SIGNED TO LABEL
We all do.

And now, I still relate to his music so fucking much, but I really can't even so much as stand it anymore.

For real Queen NF fans some weirdos
He is not a bad rapper by any means, it's just that not everyone likes him
@@yeeyee9294 I kinda agree on the "Juice Wrld is for lvl0 and NF is for lvl 25-30" but with a totally opposite point of view to the "he is for thenewcomers to hiphop".

*THAT BEING SAID*
I'm not trying to get anyone to stop liking NF. You are entitled to your opinion because in the end, it's all just art and art is subjective. If you enjoy his music, that is 100% okay. Good for you.

@@candydude2048 Stylistically, Token and Tech N9ne are fantastic places to start. Topically, Logic's Everybody album has more creative themes than the average rap song. i really have no words for this, NF is about so much more than just rhyming and flowing well (which i'd argue he already does), he's about REAL music. music that inspires never giving up. music that shows a desire to make others feel heard. music that CHANGES LIVES. did u miss the entire point of the "therapy session" record you bought? he has every right in the world to believe he's the best rapper, and even if he truly isn't, that was NEVER the point of his career. he's not doing this to make entertaining music that sounds good, he does it as a therapy for himself and his fans. that's why so many people love him. you wanna see the work you were talking abt at 9:43? look at his career man. literally look at how far he's come. wanna talk about how NF didn't have the "greater understanding" at 10:44? look at how many people didn't give up because he understood them first. this man is saving lives. if you can't see the value of this man's music past insignificant technical flaws, that's your problem.

You also mention he makes the last 2 rhyme and you probably know more about music then I know do but from my experience as a critic it all matters about the flow. So what I could get from only being able watch half this video is that you don't like NF because you like other rappers more
Exactly.
(if we ignore cultural context that connects rap, jazz, soul etc.)
fair point tbh.
Glad you're getting into hip hop so much. When you get into the abstract, underground, and jazz subgenres you'll see where the art form can go

You don't have to like it, but respect the artists for what they are doing here. These are genuinely talented people that have a knack for music.
In other words, stfu I don't care that you don't like when white people rap.
