What a beautiful building. The stonework is. Truly lovely. Enjoyed seeing the graves too. I agree death is a part of life. I have strong faith too and know where I am going. Thanks, for taking me along. Please take care

Thanks Cliff! I also love old and historic churches and cemetery's. Our history should be preserved.

How nice that two different congregations could get along well enough to share the same church. That’s what Christianity should be all about. Lovely old building. Glad it survived.

Lots of churches did that in the early days of America. Pastors were few and far between and roads were often impossible, so one week the Lutherans would worship, and the Reformed would worship, as Cliff said. As time went on, travel improved and more men went into the ministry so congregations grew and required their own spaces. Didn't always have anything to do with not getting along.

Beautiful and peaceful place. Wise words, Cliff. Death is but a step to the next life.

The message board says "both congregations continued to maintain the old building into the 20th century," so that is why it held up so well.

I swear we are on the same wavelength. I just thought that that would be a nice place for a small wedding and you go and say it! I love the old cemeterys and stone buildings. I could imagine the people in 19th century clothes sitting on benches in that church. And maybe candles in the window for Christmas services. Wish I were there. Be safe❤❤❤❤❤

I'm sure you'll like the old church and cemetery near Bells Mills covered bridge in Westmoreland county when you get to it. If memory serves, there's a few pre-1800 graves there.
