Odin is one of the most powerful Gods, even Thanos feared him, but every now and again he goes into the "Odin sleep" where his power regenerates and he becomes vulnerable.
Coulson. Son of Coul.
Never gets old.
Hahaha😂 had me dying
Best Thor movie no doubt about it
That is how literally Scandinavian-Nordic names their kids lmao. father last name + son for boys and -dottirs for girls.
@@damianwayne8229 a lot of european last names ended up using this method or their profession in some way.
@@charbelkhoury3986 No doubt? No doubt at all? Lmao
The Bifrost is not a people. It is the bridge/device that Asgardians use to travel to other realms and what Thor destroys in the end. The Frost Giants' artifact is called The Casket of Winters.
Answers to two questions you asked: (1) Loki is the son of Laufey, the king of the frost giants, but because he was born a small runt, Laufey was going to let him die. (2) Loki's adoptive mother, Frigga (Odin's wife, Thor's mom), taught him magic as a child, to help him feel less inadequate in comparison to his brother Thor. That's why he can do a lot of things frost giants can't. Only Odin, Frigga, and Loki know how to use Asgardian magic.
Probably not “only.” For example, Enchantress in the comics. But it’s fair to call those three the most powerful users of magic in Asgard.
Anthony Hopkings performance in this one are amazing!
-"YOU`RE UNWORTHY!" ...Always got me 😮
Tom Hiddleston originally auditioned for the role of Thor. Thankfully he was cast as Loki giving the MCU arguably its greatest Villain.
he's a great character but I don't consider him to be the greatest villain.
Not the greatest villain, but easily the greatest character arc in the universe.
Back to back Marvel premieres? YES PLEASE! 💜
So so excited!!
Mouthing "sorry...so, sorry" while opening a bottle was so cute and so funny. Actually made me laugh out loud.
I hope someone already told you that Frigga, Thor's Mother, was raised by witches and taught Loki magic. He is a master of illusion. Loki is one of the most complicated characters in Marvel. Also Loki didn't put Odin in a coma. That was the Odinsleep. A state of deep withdrawal.
Loki is magic... and magic in Marvel is basically capable of anything. There are no rules to magic really, so Loki is basically able to do whatever the writers want to have him have learned to do.
Mostly he just teleports, finds secret routes between worlds, makes body doubles that can't touch any physical objects... but in the comics he can project lightning and wish upon wishing stones to basically acheive almost anything.
Loki is very powerful, but that is intentional, as the writers always want to make Thor more powerful and Loki needs to always pose a real challenge to Thor.
Loki's powers in this movie are largely "witchcraft" learned from his mother, Frigga. He also uses the Casket of Ancient Winters to freeze Heimdall and the bifrost. The Casket was the artifact that Odin seized from Jotunheim during the opening battle sequence.
in the COMIC BOOKS, odin bounced Thanos around like he was a rubber ball or a chew toy for a dog lol, the odin force is very .....potent
You just reminded me of the three-eyed alien the nasty neighbor kid gave his dog, in "Toy Story". 😂
"Am I supposed to be confused? Because I'm a little confused." Whenever you're dealing with Loki, "confused" is one of the typical reactions to be expected. 😆
I love watching reactors who are both romantic and nerdy -- you fit the bill perfectly, so it's great to re-take this journey with you as a huge MCU fan myself. Keep up the great work!
That scene where Loki argues with Odin always makes me tear up , idk why, there’s just so much emotion in his voice.
The scene where Loki finds out he's a frost giant is heartbreaking 😢
"Whosoever holds this Hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor."
Remember that line/spell by Odin on Mjolnir.
Also Yggdrasil, the Tree of Life, which you'll hear again VERY soon!
... and everyone, Thor included, never realised that it's the power or Thor, not the power of the hammer.
Bit of trivia for you: the guy @15:34 is J. Michael Straczynski. He’s a writer; he worked on the Thor comic, created and wrote almost every episode of old SF series called Babylon 5, and co-created and has a writing credit on almost every episode of Sense8 (among other writing credits). He’s also, by the accounts I’ve heard, just a Good Person.
When Agent Phil Coulson was talking about they found it they meant the 084 which is a object of unknown origins. When a frost giant catches you it causes extreme instant frostbite. Odin was sick and fell into a coma due to the Odin sleep. Once a year Odin must fall asleep to recharge his powers and the reason Odin felt sick was because he put it off due to the possible war with the frost Giants.
Yeah, but to learn what "0-8-4" means(or to even hear anyone ever say that designation out loud), she'd need to watch Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. 🤔 ... Good luck convincing her to do that🙄
Don't get me wrong. I *LOVE* Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D., and I genuinely believe the series is absolutely worth reacting to in its entirety. But I have yet to see a channel starting out on a casual journey reacting to the MCU that has enough positive viewer feedback on the series to convince them to follow through on including Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.🤷♂️
I'd enjoy if Stef, and all her Patreon supporters, proved me wrong.😉
Dont worry if youre confused. You havent seen that cube in the end credit scene yet. Its a topic in future movies.
Ahhh okay, thank you!!
@@stefsolari Loki is the god of mischief he can control reality as you see it so he can manipulate what you see like a illusion kinda he also can do a lot more in our depiction of him then shown in the movies. You can actually just look up. But thor,Odin, and Loki are all Norse gods in our actual legends/religions
@@jwstikes1287 sadly marvel butchered norse mythology, which in itself is brilliant. Loki in poem EDDA is a awesome character. I watched MCU before learning about Norse mythos and I feel extremely bad how they treat actual beliefs as jokes in movies.
Damn spoiler! Shame!
@@br0ken_107 they are not the same....totally different...
“TELL ME!”
And, with those two words, a dynasty was born. I could- and have- talked for hours about Tom Hiddleston’s performance and Loki’s unique dynamic with Thor and Odin.
"Quickly turned," because it is a movie, I think both loki and thor is about 1500 years old here, so they have been at it for a while :P
jane's father was friends with Banner (hulk) before the gama accident which is why fury knows of him.
Loved this reaction, really made the slow parts a lot more bareable than other reactors. She knows what she is doing, and I see no reason to judge.
Might I suggest doing the same thing for when you watch Thor: Dark World ? I usually skip that movie.
I believe Loki when he says he brought the Frost Giants in just to ruin Thor's big day. After the events that lead Odin to confess Loki's heritage, Loki now had twice the motivation: A father that left him to die, and a proxy that kept him to use.
Loki's powers are basically trickster magic, taught to him by his adoptive mother, rather than just something he's born with. Also the film tells you that he knows other ways into asgard, so makes sense he'd know ways out of it too (plus you can never believe what you're seeing when it comes to loki). Its definitely a big jump from some rich dude making a suit, to magic being everywhere, but theres more to come so its good they threw it into the mcu this early tbh
Loki is Laufey's son and was going to save Odin by killing Laufey in order to make his position as King of Asgard. Loki is a powerful sorcerer with a huge array of abilities which is why he was able to remain unhurt by falling off the broken Bifrost Bridge. Most of Loki's use of magic is illusion but it isn't his only gift by far.
SHIELD didn't know anything about Thor or his hammer. They only knew that something putting off a lot of power materialized in the atmosphere and crashed into Earth. And Loki didn't "effect" Odin. That was just Odin's grief. Similar to a mortal having a heart attack. He was overly stressed. Lot going on for him right now. He was thinking he'd lost both his sons and his people were heading into war.
Thor Odinson is the god of thunder and is about 1500 years old.
Loki Odinson is the god of mischief and also about 1500.
Odin, son of Bor, Alfather (basically, he's the god of knowledge). This stallion is over 5500 years old.
In Iceland, we still use the names of our father as our last name. Like my name is Jón and my father is Bragi, so my name is Jón Bragason
For women it's "...dóttir" instead of "...son"
An Earth calendar “year” has no meaning in Asgard 😅
@user-xj7hq1pp3x but it does for us here on earth 🤦♂️ do you think Stef is from Asgard or Midgard?
@@user-xj7hq1pp3x Okay, Stef is not in Asgard. She's on Earth
Yo the back to back marvel uploads!? Stef's coming with that heat 🔥😎🔥
Loki is the master of mischief. He has the power of illusion among other things. Some of it he was taught by his mother who has similar powers. She and Odin were the only ones who knew Loki's origin. You may come across some anal commenters who will say that's not really a part of Norse mythology. Myths aren't exactly factual and neither are comic books. The Dr. Don Blake ID for Thor was a callback to the comics where Donald Blake was an actual doctor who found the Hammer while hiking in Scandinavia. He could change between human and Thor but became human if the hammer was out of his grasp for more than a minute. In the comics Jane Foster was his nurse.
Marvels asgard ect is loosely inspired by the old norse religion, they take alot of liberties. The MCU is inspired by the comics, alot is lost in translation :)
@@sumsarprat The older MCU was usually better written than the comics. Both the newest MCU and newest comics are pretty poorly written.
@@sumsarprateven the myths themselves show only a slight consistency, though they are mighty fun to read.
@@jimdetry9420 no older MCU was also extremely badly written, the actors made it great. Comparing to comics, current comics are bad anyway there have been barely any good comics post 2010 by both DC and Marvel, but claiming early MCU is better written than comics is just plain ignorance or fanboyism. Writing was never MCUs strong suit (with exceptions of course like Winter Soldier which is by far the best MCU movie) it was always the actors who could elevate C grade heroes to household names.
@@jean-paulaudette9246 Myths by same writer are usually consistent, it's mostly the adaptations of myths by later writers which show inconsistency which is true to every mythology. Although I do agree they are incredibly fun to read, I couldn't stop after I started Norse, hindu, egyptian. Last 2 are very very big so it took a lot of time especially Hinduism --> 25+ books. But it's quite interesting to see similarities and unique lessons and inspirations.
Definitely looking forward to this one! 😊
Absolutely love Chris Hemsworth as Thor, and Tom Hiddleston as Loki. And really enjoy Natalie Portman as Jane Foster.
That scene when Loki confronts Odin about his true parentage...phenomenal performance by Tom Hiddleston in that scene!
Fun Fact: For this movie, Tom Hiddleston originally auditioned for the role of Thor. But the director thought his was more suitable as Loki.
We get another appearance by Greg Clark as SHIELD Agent Phil Coulson. And the first appearance by Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton/Hawkeye.
Up next is "Captain America: The First Avenger". So excited for that one! And don't forget, "The Avengers" will have 2 end credit scenes.
Looking forward to your next reaction. 😊
I really do enjoy watching people go through the MCU for the first time.
Maybe because I’m jealous and wish I could.
This movie is so cool, it's a shame how underrated it is. Nice reaction
Loki was breaking Odin's heart, because Odin is a genuine God and has truly loved both of his children, even if one of them is adopted
You need to try and watch the films in release order to get all the links. If you haven’t seen it yet you need to watch Captain America The First Avenger before going any further. It’s a great film and he’s a key character, would fill other gaps too!
This has been the correct release order so far. Thor was released a month before Captain America in 2011.
SHIELD don't necessarily know anything about the hammer or Thor. They just know something of other worldly origin crashed to earth.
And they apparently don't know anything about the Constitution, either. Civil rights, due process of law, the 4th Amendment, that sort of thing.
@@PhilBagels They probably have very good lawyers or put it under the umbrella of The Patriot Act or something like that.
Omg Stef looking amazing.😍😍😍
She knows what she's doing with that top, especially in the thumbnail. It's a simple fact: sex sells; always has, always will.
This Thor movie is amazing my favorite one love the video Stef stay motivated dream big 1 mill on the way
Yep one of the best for me and best Thor movie
Captain America: The First Avenger is one of my favorite Marvel movies. I'm so hype for that reaction.
This makes Ragnarok look like a comedy spoof. Taika was a mistake.
A very big mistake really
@@charbelkhoury3986 I agree. I never understood how so many people enjoyed Ragnarok. It has nice ideas but the comedy is very exaggerated
Loki is the God of Mischief, explains most of it.
Odin (Odin's day, Wednesday), Thor (Thor's day, Thursday), Frigga (Odin's wife, Thor's mom, Frigga's day, Friday), and the others (Loki, Heimdall, The Bifrost or Rainbow Bridge, Mjolonir Thor's hammer) were all lifted by Marvel from Norse mythology and adapted for the comics in the 1960s. For those with a passing knowledge of Norse mythology they are familiar names and characters, but most people aren't expected to know the mythology or the comics. Those of us who do, smiled at each familiar reference during the movie. Thor's journey from the reckless warrior or Norse legends to the heroic character from the comics was a good introduction to both the historical figures and the comic heroes and villains.
I love that it feels almost as if more of her personality shines through over time with these reactions. When she's mouthing "sorry!" while opening the whatever that was it was funny and kind of adorable XD
Safe bet is, especially in the early phases, you aren't supposed to understand the end credit scenes. They make sense in the next films.
Stef - you're going an awesome job. Thanks for helping us relive one of the greatest epic movie journeys of all time.
Keep up the great work! Everyday I look forward to coming home and watching your videos!
Coulson just meant, "We found [whatever was picked up on radar/caused the sonic boom/explosion/disturbance.]"
Hi, at this point Shield knows basically nothing about Thor or the hammer. This is his introduction to earth since ancient times.
What's really entertaining from Stef is more of what she doesn't say: that look in moments of silence and bewilderment, than what she does say. Very entertaining. 😎📽️😁
You will see the cube fairly soon.
Yes, you are meant to be confused. That last scene is meant to tease that Loki is still alive and active, and that something is going on.
Loki learned magic from his mother, Frigga. I don’t think we really get to see that side of her in the MCU.
Sometimes i believe wide angle lens was an great invention ✨
Letsss goooo!!!
Thor and Loki are two of the best characters in this rendition of Marvel…
I think you’re really going to enjoy Loki… 😎
Unlike others. Thor for the most part was born with some powers. But the hammer does let him channel that power better. Thor movies are for sure the most different from the other movies in terms of effects and setting too. Which is a good thing at times.
Humility is one of the most important virtues that makes you worthy.
A great reaction Thor is a big family drama Loki is so manipulative you never know want side he's on, one of my favourite characters from the comics Thor.
The town of Tønsberg, Norway features a few times in the MCU. This movie, Captain America: The First Avenger, and Avengers: Endgame. Norway is mentioned in Thor: Ragnarök by Odin.
Stef coming with the quickness
It isn't that SHIELD knew about the Hammer. They just knew there was an event that suggested they investigate.
I like this reaction.
ANOTHER!
Thanks for sharing! Enjoyed!
‘He can do that?’ Yes… Odin is wildly powerful. One of the most powerful beings in the marvel universe.
The answer to most of Stef’s questions here is simple: ITS MAGIC!! what’s impressive about Thor is how they humanise the myth. But beyond that these are logic questions that the superhero genre isn’t all that concerned with. How does a man fly?? Physics doesn’t not provide an answer but every superhero film says it’s possible😊
It has never made sense to me how the god of thunder can be shocked or electrocuted. I understand at this point that he has lost his power but he still can be even after he has regained his power.
If you had any knowledge of the Marvel comics Thor or any general knowledge of the Norse gods like Loki the god of mischief, illusions, trickster, and deception.
45:50 You would think Samuel L. Jackson would be wary of unlimited power after the whole Palpatine thing.
Reliving the Marvel journey with Stef woooweee!!! don't worry Stef that you are confuse about the end credits because next up Marvel film is none other Captain America my favorite Marvel character you will know more after you finish watched Captain America: The First Avenger
Whilst Thor’s powers are more combatant like his Fathers, Loki studied with their Mother, Fregga to develop his powers, which I think gets explained more in Thor 2.
Careful not to confuse the Bifrost - which is the bridge to the realms - and the Frost Giants, which is the race of blue giants.
This was one of Marvel's best, Thor is an amazing character, and Loki even better
Funny story: I took a (ex-) gf to see this in the theatre. Height of the MCU madness and its PACKED. Like standing room only. 😮
Its dead quiet in the audience as they are all talking in the around the table and in walks shirtless Chris Hemsworth ... every woman in the entire theatre gave a sharp, audible and involuntary inhale. Including the girl I had brought with me 😅
The silence returned for only a half second or so before we all started laughing :) acknowledging that we all had heard it 🤣😂🤣
Great movie! Probably the best of all the Thor movies imo.
LETS GOOOOOOOO!! 💪😎💪😁
You'll learn more about that "Cube" along with the other "five stones" as you continue on your MCU journey.
It will all be explained as you go, and there will be more questions that need answering!
For You For all of us!!!
Both Of You Were Born To Be Kings
Thor was my first introduction to the MCU and I loved his character the most after this movie, compared to Iron man who I really appreciated more an more with each phase.
you mouthing sorry while opening a drink is SOOOO me in the theatre LOL
I don't think Shield necessarily knew about Thor and the hammer. They just knew there was an atmospheric disturbance that was really weird and the hammer came from there.
Confusion will be cleared up eventually, keep sharp and remember details. Still only at the beginning of things, small glimpses everywhere. Release order and all will be made clear (or a little bit clearer ).(Cute sleepy puppy!)
As far as Loki is concerned he IS the god of mischief. In Norse mythology he is variously portrayed as merely annoying and downright evil.
Ayo super quick upload , you weren't kidding when you said you couldn't wait to watch Thor 😂🙌🎊🎉
Love it. Thanks for doing this Stef, lov u
Captain America here we come!!
Loki is indeed Laufey's son. Thats why his last name is Laufeyson and not Odinson
Unlimited power! Who else said that coming from Star Wars Palpatine. I think it's a bad omen: UNLIMITED POWER!! 🧛
Super reaction. Thank you.
Stef, Loki is a god like Thor so a simple will not kill him. The post credit scene is a glimpse into the first Avengers film which is coming up soon. I applaud your passion for the characters and stories. Enjoy the ride, Let's go! 😊
Wow. This was amazing.
A few of the things the Marvel movies do really well is the fraught step-brother relationship between Thor and Loki, as well as the romance with Jane Foster. Those aspects make this movie one of the best of all!
I found the love story between jane and thor kinda generic tbh. The loki and thor relationship is brilliant tho
i was a loki fan before it was cool so its great to see him shine.
Just tuned in and suddenly Im hankering for going cliff diving.
Thor and loki are some of my favorite marvel characters
You need to watch Captain America The First Avenger. The things that you are not picking up on will go much easier if you watch the movies in the order they were released. Captain America before the Avengers. :)
Once you have your own family, it changes everything. See how Odin wants to prevent war at all costs, but young brash/ reckless Thor just wants to kill the frost giants. Does he have to go thru a whole kind of JOURNEY to earn back the right to be Thor? Yes- that is the entire premise of the old Thor comics… he was in exile on Earth, his spirit trapped in the hammer, until a WORTHY human archaeologist found it. So the movie is a little different.
Loki is on earth, controlling Dr. Selvig
In the Norse religion, Sif is Thor's wife. Loki is closer to Odins brother
Loki is also father to major creatures in Norse Mythology, and mother to at least one..
Odin is, was one of the most powerful gods in the mcu. Comics too. Also, dude with the bow and arrow is another future original avenger.
This version of Thor is different to the versions that come later - it's not a case of character development, they are different characters
What makes you say that?
