Honestly, I don't mind if people want to risk their lives for the not viable. If you believe that is your purpose, go on. People go into conflict zones and we don't judge them. I suspect she has punked us all in order to claim, after the birth is successful, that she is a survivor and will be held up as “proof” ectopic pregnancies are not all that bad. Sick.
Ultimately this is her choice. The choice that she advocates removing from all other women in her country. It's really not about abortion, it's about oppression, and immunity to irony.
The Equal Rights Amendment, which is the only one with an expiration date, was defeated* because of women like Phillis Schlafly. Progressive women celebrated when that woman died. * had technically have enough states now to ratify, but that pesky expiration date. The 27th Amendment took over 200 years to get ratified being it was originally proposed in 1789.
The rate of miscarriage is between 15-20%. About 80 percent occur in the first trimester-usually the first few weeks. That includes only known pregnancies. It may actually be higher in that it is a known fact that some very early pregnancies end before the woman knows she's pregnant. Stick only turns blue if you pee on it. The reason we can reasonably infer that there are more miscarriages is that some women can present with evidence of a probable miscarriage but without a confirmed pregnancy result are not counted So, it seems like God terminates about 1 in 5 pregnancies
Exactly. And god needs the doctors to help his hands. I mean, that's what is said when a doctor Saves someone's life. Why the double standard? Either let aborti9n be health care and god using the doctors for his hands. Or, do not allow any life saving surgery because god has said your time is up. Doctors saving lives are going against god's will. At the end of the day, this is all a charade and show. The Republicans have been milking the outrage political points cow for ages. In 1984 I was renting a room from a family in Monterey, CA. Husband frequently out of town on music gigs. One night their 2 kids woke me up - "Mommie's sick." Mom was going into shock, EMTs came, within the hour she was undergoing an "exploratory surgery." She had a ruptured ectopic pregnancy, extended hospital stay because her abdominal cavity was filled with pus. She didn't know she was pregnant. Imagine this happening in TX today.
That's awful and yet a pretty common complication that can now routinely be screened for by tactically only getting pregnant when you are looking to get pregnant.
I met a catholic nun who had worked in extremely poor areas of Lima, Peru for 32 years. She said that there was NO WAY she could/would support abortion bans. She said she saw hundreds of babies die in their first year because the mother was so poor that she couldn't ever go to a doctor, the mom still had to work and there was no time to care for a baby. The nun was wrecked by seeing these babies die, babies who had zero chance because of poverty and lack of birth control and inaccessibility of abortion. The woman you are talking about is a danger to herself and others, the criteria for putting a suicidal person on a 72 hour hold in a hospital. This woman IS a danger to her own life and endangering her minor children. What a fruitcake. Oh, yes, and as you said not even the hint of ill will towards her. But she is indeed a fruitcake.

@@resourcedragon Why not? She has a search engine, and knows how to use it. Also, there are HIPAA laws, which means this kind of medical scam will almost certainly never be revealed. So why not claim something known to be super-dangerous to the mother's life for maximum drama?

Ectopic pregnancies are one of the scariest, most life-threatening, things a pregnant person can go through. Remember that video of Oklahoma Senator Warren Hamilton talking about why abortion should be banned for ectopic pregnancies? I was so horrified that anyone could be that misinformed that I always think about it when the abortion debate comes up.
People here are completely insane. They don't want to teach our children medically accurate information becausemany of the adults don't even understand middle school biology. I am done having children here because it isn't safe. Many OBGYNs have left the state.

If she is actually pregnant, and actually has an cesearean ectopic pregnancy and isn't using this as a grift - her pregnancy isn't simply "high risk" - it is a life threatening, non viable pregnancy. If it is true, the baby will likely miscarry soon or if not, she will likely hemorrhage or have uterine rupture and potentially leave 7 children without their mom. If she is lying, she will give conservatives a rediculous "survivor story" where they can parade her around on talk shows and pro life groups will send her to talk to lawmakers and influence women to defy their doctors while pointing to her fake story. Disgusting either way.
Good point... I didn't think about the possibility of the whole thing being a total grift! I'm dumb, I must have forgotten what type of people we're talking about here 😅🙃
I had a fallopian tube ectopic. My first thought was I have to survive for my 2 living children. I've made promises to them that a non-viable embryo has no claim on.
Doctors start getting real busy when they hear of that. Normally the woman presents early in the pregnancy with intense pain. This is the first they check out because they know they could have a woman bleeding to death at their hands.
Good grief, an ectopic pregnancy is so incredibly dangerous. My only encounter with one was truly awful. My 8th grade English teacher stood up, pale, walked three steps away from her desk, and collapsed on the floor in a rapidly spreading pool of blood. She very nearly didn't survive and the event made her infertile. I wouldn't wish that on anyone. Edit: For anyone who is wondering how on Earth I knew the details, she didn't come back to school that year, but told her replacement that they could keep us informed about it because she knew we were worried. She was a wonderful teacher and I was lucky enough to have her a second time in high school after she returned to the profession.
A lot of teachers wouldn't share a personal health story, but it sounds like she wanted her students to be aware that it could happen to them. Good for her!
She’s kind of painted herself into a corner, her whole persona is based around having kids, so she can’t have anything resembling an a8ortion. Also having 6 miscarriages for 7 live births is not good odds.
The incidece of miscarriage is around 35% but many occur before a woman even knows she's pregnant and can make it closer to a 50% risk of miscarriage per pregnancy
Some are also more susceptible to miscarriage than others, so one individual may have a 100% miscarriage rate, while another may have a 0% rate. Vanishing twins is also a possible scenario - where two embryos implant, but one fails to thrive, self-terminates, and just gets absorbed.
@@vivianatrevino6212 Actually, it is more dramatic than that from a certain point of view. If you count from the point of conception. 3/4 of conceptions are lost before 6 weeks, and are not even perceived as pregnancies. That 35% incidence you quote is loss AFTER the pregnancy is recognized. If you think about it, there are about 3-4 conceptions for every live birth, on average.
It is not "resembling" abortion...it is an abortion. I feel like a lot of people, people born with female reproductive organs, do not know that until they have something horrible like this happen and they find out they can't get the medical procedure they need because absolute morons who never spent a second in med school decided that you should die in 2024 over a miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy.
It's funny she isn't forced to have an abortion but she's alright forcing other women to risk their lives and may never be able to bare children again.
Or self defeating narcissism. If she does not love the children and is doing this for clicks. Either way, she is not using wisdom. And i hate abortion. I still think she is wrong and needs to take a break from getting pregnant. But she is probably anti alm forms of contraception as well, especially abstinence.
My grandmother had an eptopic pregnancy when my mom was a toddler. Grandma passed out because of the pain and my mom’s cries was what brought help. Grandma had a hysterectomy and mom ended up being an only child. Grandma would tell me that my mom saved her life.
I do advocate for choice. In this case, she's making a bad choice. Its a choice that can kill her. Its a choice that could leave her other children motherless. But it is her choice. And it is a choice she would DENY others. That's the problem.
@@maggienorris7833 usually Indian immigrants want their children to become doctors. It’s so common that there’s a good chance a person of that heritage you meet is actually a doctor. Probably it’s more evident in the UK.
It’s like the old logic question - a plane crashes on a border where do they bury the survivors? You don’t bury the survivors. Those that don’t make it during any ectopic pregnancy don’t write blogs
Ha! That same question popped into my head too. A few years ago there was a meme going around Facebook: "I rode in the back of pickups all the time when I was young and I survived." I'd post the comment, "I'll take famous paraplegics for $400, Alex."
As a nursing student I witnessed a cesarean section. The patient was from a fundamentalist group with 8 children. She had been informed after the 4th child how unsafe it was to have more children- each a c section. After the 8th the doctor quietly did a tubal ligation during the repair to the uterus. Only 2 of us in the room caught on to what he did. His logic; 8 children needed a mother more.
Good. She should follow, what she preaches. I have little to no sympathy for those women, who are actively anti-women and try to harm women in general.
I would agree, but for the fact that she has seven kids who will grow up without their mother if she insists on going through with this irresponsible idiocy.
@Savannah_Simpson from the sounds of it they might as well be motherless already because she's checked out. She literally doesn't care already if she dies, I can't imagine what she ignores of her own living children because of religion.
They use fake bills with biblical quotes to trick waiters and other people into believing in Christ all the time. Apparently lying is not a sin if you were doing it for Christ. /s
Religion and science has always been in conflict. Witches who were burned during witch trials both in NA and Europe were women who were practicing alchemists aka healers using natural ingredients. It's not like these people actually read the book, just believe what their pastor/priest tells them what's in it. I think they would be shocked if they actually did read it.
What escapes them is she is choosing to go forward with her pregnancy. No one is forcing her to, and no one is making her abort. She has chosen. And all women should have that choice.
Pro-choice people are not pro-abortion. Like the pro-life crowds wants people to think. They're for exactly what this woman is going through. To have the ability to choice what is right for themselves and/or their families.
Her decision is akin to Jehovah’s Witnesses not getting a blood transfusion when it’s needed. Sure it’s their choice but other people are entitled to say it’s a bad one
I have very strong feelings about this. My mom was like this woman, she and my brother did not survive. My sister and I were left as orphans and had terrible childhoods. I'm like 20 years in therapy to recover. All of which was avoidable. This kinda stuff just really makes me so mad
I am an Eastern Orthodox Christian. I feel terrible that this lady is going through this. I can’t imagine being faced with such a difficult choice! My former priest once told me it is an honor to die giving birth to a child. Although I’m too old to have babies, I respectfully disagree with “Father J.” on this - if this had happened to me, especially if I already had a child, I would’ve made a decision to save my own life to continue to care for my existing child.
I think I know which EOC priest you're referring to. Some used to be fundie Protestants and brought their insanity to the Antiochian church. So glad my OCA priest is a normal, commonsense genuine pro-choice pro-lifer, which includes opposition to war and the death penalty, so at least he's consistent. And he prefers that women survive pregnancy troubles.
Ironically, if she doesn't get the proper medical treatment and dies, she would actually be killing her baby as well, which is the very thing she says she doesn't want to do
Big families irritates me. The oldest kids always end up doing the parenting work. They are supposed to be kids but the parents are too egocentric to understand that.
A 65 year old friend of mine grew up with 10 kids, only 1 of those adults now has children, and only 2! They had enough of kids growing up in family of 10. 🤣🤣🤣
The more children, who are born to one woman, the more health-problems each subsequent child gets. Especially, if there isn’t a decent time-gap, between births. The woman suffers, too, as her body becomes depleted. I’m #6. Born deficient, with a lifetime of health-woes. Fewer children, with big gaps, between each, helps to make a healthier child.
@@teoleno4019My mother was the second-child, the first girl, of nine. Two of the nine had died in infancy. She had to take care of relatives’ children. Missing school. Was she appreciated? No. It was just what was done.
At this point, she's responsible for "sending more children to heaven" than your average woman who has had an abortion. To top it off, she's ready to make her husband a single parent, and leave SEVEN children without a mother because she wants to be a martyr for her stone age beliefs? That's absolutely insane. I would hope you're wrong in assuming that the father won't step up and help with his other children, but I fear you're right. This is one of those situations in which his family and church would be pressuring him to remarry "for the sake of the children" before his wife's body is even cold.
This started as a discussion about abortion of viable but unwanted pregnancies. It has now taken an even more bizarre turn to wanting to stop women from getting life saving medical treatment while being pregnant with a very wanted but non-viable fetus. All in the name of saving lives, just not that of the fetus (because non viable) or the mother (because in danger of losing her life for a non-viable fetus). Help me make sense of this.
@@ZBM-jj1xr There is a significant portion of the religious right wing that views pregnancy as punishment for being sexual (and yes, being sexual as a woman is a bad thing in their minds). Therefore, if your pregnancy (or childbirth) happens to kill you, you had it coming because “god’s will”. I wish I was joking.
I'm also skeptical. This reminds me of J.D. Vance admitting that he made up the story about Haitians eating pets to bring attention to concerns that aren't being covered by the mainstream media. Even he didn't seem to notice that these stories weren't being covered because they weren't happening. This seems similar. Also, as others have pointed out, there's no way she can know the sex of the baby at 6 weeks gestation. She's just guessing. This does tell us at least something about how this woman decides what she knows.
I mean... The only cause her martyrdom helps is the pro-choice position. "This is what Republicans want to happen to every woman in the same position, isn't that terrifying?"
At least she's a willing sacrifice. Most women who find themselves in a life-or-death situation from a reproductive problem are not okay with "offering their blood to God."
But apparently they all end up in heaven, so all good!! I wonder if they go to heaven as a bunch of cells or as a fully developed baby? Do they grow up to adulthood in heaven? So many questions someone could ask her! And l reckon she wouldn’t have a frigging clue. Just another religious fruitcake although l feel sorry for her ignorance, it’s probably going to get her killed.
Yup. This is what happens when people have "principles" and "values" that are based on nothing. Principles and values must be based in reality, not some higher authority that dictates it "just because". No matter how much she opposes abortion, it's just nonsensical to ignore the science, which says that if she doesn't get an abortion, her family will lose her.
Right? Not viable means it will never be a baby. Facts. Science. If you believe in god, don't you think he would want you to use the brain he gave you?
Not even the Catholic Church would oblige her to continue this pregnancy. Under what they call the principle of double effect, you can remove the ectopic pregnancy because your intention is to save the life of the mother, and even though this terminates what Catholics would term the unborn child, the Church does not deem this immoral because the intention is not to terminate the child’s life, but rather to save the mother; as such, even though the effect of this action terminates the unborn life, the Church considers this morally permissible because it is simply the secondary and unavoidable effect-the “double effect”-of the life saving surgery.
I'm a physicist. In the past I used to have these kinds of arguments with religious people. One person couldn't understand why God would create antimatter. A real thing. Now when I talk to them I just nod my head. "Oh yea. Sure. Ok. Wow really? Cool. Yep" and on and on...
My theory is that she's hoping the pregnancy will cause such damage to her reproductive system that she won't be able to get pregnant again. Elective sterilization is presumably against her religion, but if a failed pregnancy _happens_ to make her infertile, then it must be God's hand, right?
THIS is religious fundamentalism at its worst. I know a woman who’s a religious fundamentalist who continued to get pregnant against her doctor’s recommendation, even after EIGHT miscarriages. Her doctors warned her that due to her age etc (46yrs), she would continue to miscarry. In my opinion, every single one of her later pregnancies that self-terminated were self-induced abortions. Also - if it’s “god’s will” why didn’t he want her to have babies and how else was god going to let her know?
As someone who strongly believes that it’s “your body, your choice”, it’s almost always wrong to compel medical treatment. But as an older sibling, I can’t imagine the trauma if something had gone tragically wrong when my mom was pregnant with my sister. Parents, your kids who already born need you.
This woman sounds like she’s addicted to pregnancy. I remember reading about a condition like that some time ago - can’t remember the name, though. Her background and religious persuasion may merely be convenient smokescreens to justify her pregnancy addiction - why else would a woman with 7 kids and 6 miscarriages go on IVF? This is very much not about the kids. She gets something from pregnancy. Perhaps the attention she gets while pregnant is so far beyond what she gets as a mere mother that pregnancy has become part of her identity. So much so that she’d rather risk her own life than risk losing the pregnancy benefits.
My sister had a high risk pregnancy. The baby was delivered many weeks too early and let's just say the medical expenses to save him were quite high. Not to mention the emergency med flight across the state to a hospital capable of handling the situation. Yes he is still alive some 40 years later but he has many health issues which cerebral palsy is just one. He cannot speak and is blind. Has been in a nursing home from the age of 18 and has been on the edge of death many times. Yes he is alive but is he really living a life? As a right to life believer my sister wanted this child at all cost but she is not the one caring for him. Now that she and her husband are retired they spend the summer traveling not spending time with their child
I’m sure he’s happier alive. It’s the only life he’s known, but he would have been just fine in heaven too. Them not taking care of him is on a whole other level.
Meh this is not high risk pregnancy. It is lethal pregnancy there I a difference. There are no survivors of advanced pregnancy implanted in healing cessation section scar. The cessation section goes through all layers of the womb not just the one on the top that feeds the baby. This is the only layer that has the capability to feed the baby safely and regenerate itself fast. Other two do not posses this ability and if the wound does not heal or the baby burst it growing they both have minutes to live. She will bleed internally as the placenta and the wound burst open.
A problem with the FB "I survived this, no biggie, so you can too" lot is that they don't pay any attention to the details and factors that made it possible for that one single person to get their happily ever after. No two situations are identical even when the main diagnosis is the same.
@@RobertZellers Quite possible. But there are a *lot* of factors that might impact an outcome, and laypeople aren't too good at looking for them to see if a particular crucial detail applies to their situation. Or they are simply ignoring a glaringly obvious factor.
Occasionally, people do survive ectopic pregnancies without medical intervention. That doesn't mean it is a good idea to try. The odds are not in your favor.
Right, these people vote for a guy who says he will put 20 million "enemies from within" into concentration camps. No sympathy for anyone supporting that.
Pro-choice goes both ways, but an ectopic pregnancy is 100% fatal and painful. This woman is stupid for continuing it, there’s nothing noble about what she’s doing.
When she gets to the afterlife and tells God she had faith in him and he let her down and then God will tell her "i sent you all of these doctor's advice and you just ignored them".
True. Maybe he has decided this broodmare is defective and after she's gone he will replace her with a newer model and get 7 more kids.... god's plan and all that
Her OBGYN shouldn't have made decisions on behalf of his patient. It may be baffling to him that she would not terminate her pregnancy (it's baffling to me as well) but coming at her the way he did just strengthened her resolve to continue. The doctor needs to lay out the risks, appeal to the husband and have some sort of disclaimer to sign that the couple was made aware of the diagnosis and the extreme dangers of continuing with the pregnancy so that when the inevitable happens, he is not in danger of a malpractice lawsuit.
Okay, now I'm bothered that Matt couldn't take a minute away from a "work phone call" to talk to his lifetime partner about something that is clearly extremely distressing.
My mom almost died from an ectopic pregnancy. She knew she was pregnant, but didn't know it had implanted in the fallopian tube. She was rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery. This was in Texas in the early 90s, and if she didn't get help, she would have died. My life would have been drastically different if she had.
This cult that she's in has convinced her that saving her life would be murder. This is sad all the way around. All those kids will be without a mom because of her beliefs. I hope she survives this despite herself.
My guess is that when it starts to kill her, as soon as she passes out from internal bleeding, her husband will seek medical treatment for her. She might get lucky and survive. But it's her choice. Funny, isn't it, how she demands to be the one to make a choice about what she does with her body?
When she “miraculously survives” with a “healthy baby” GOP politicians will point to her as to why schmortion is never necessary, especially because god & jesus will save the faithful.
She probably is telling the truth about being pregnant, because unless she claims a miscarriage, that can be falsified. But thanks to medical confidentiality laws, she can claim any complication she wants, and no one will ever be any wiser.
The only thing that upsets me about her decision is that it could leave her surviving children without a mother. Still, stupid's gotta stupid at the end of the day.
its natural selection. maybe they will all do this. sad for the family, but eventually bad ideas will necessarily select themselves out, hopefully without taking us with them. thots and prayers!
@@jospinner1183 Sure it’s natural selection. She’s likely to not have any further children. Moreover if she dies her children are probably at a disadvantage effecting their probability of reproducing.
The sad truth is that it will take having lots of women dying to fix the attitude present in society. Children who lose their mother from a reasonably treatable issue will always feel upset about this. Parents who lose their daughters from this. The right wing is going to lose, but for the societal narrative to change, the anecdotes from those who've directly lost loved ones will have to be commonplace. What a horrible truth.
Murder is only murder when a living, breathing, fully formed human being is killed by someone else. Abortion is removing cells that are not viable outside of the womb & those cells don’t even have a functioning, connected nervous system/nerves until around 28 weeks gestation. These people like to say things like, “but this is LIFE!” Well, embryonic/fetal cells are living cells in the exact same way as cancer cells, yet we remove cancer cells every day because they are a risk to the health of the person. Embryonic cells are, by definition, a parasite in need of a host & I’m a mom of 4 thanks to 3 high risk pregnancies. I can’t believe this woman could be so selfish to risk her life & leave her children motherless.
The colloquial use of the term "murder" doesn't require a verdict. It's why it was so absurd when the shitty kid who killed people at a protest in Kenosha, Wisconsin, was still called a murderer by a lot of people, even after he got his "not guilty" verdict in the criminal trial. Abortion isn't murder because an embryo isn't a living person. Prior to viability (>21-23 weeks gestation, generally) a fetus doesn't qualify as "alive" by biological standards. And the Bible is very clear that life begins with the first breath (at birth).
The Bible also says that murder begins with hate that is in the heart. Abortion is not about hate it’s about care, healthcare, compassion for the children you have. Choosing to be a “martyr for the cause” is self-centered pride. She is seeking praise and glory from herself. According to the Bible racism is…1 John 3:15.
It is not murder if you kill a cow, because a cow has no soul. Theologicians don't think that a fertilized egg has a soul immediate after impregnating. It is debately, but the consensus is that god doesn't have a stockpile of several days old souls in purgatory.
Well she’s telling the world she’s an awful mother because she is just telling the world she’s just going to die for absolutely no gain, because theres literally no way a healthy baby is coming out of this AND she’s going lot die.
The Orthodox Church is against abortion but does make exceptions in certain circumstances, such as when the mother's life is in danger. In these cases, the Church recommends leniency and does not excommunicate the mother from the church. The mother must confess to a priest and complete any penance assigned by the priest. So, yes not great.
When the doctor told the husband to make her get an abortion it was mysoginistic AND the doctor was trying to save her life. I really appreciate this video cuz my fundie mom insisted on having all home births even for her high risk pregnancies. Fundie culture around birth and pregnancies kills.
How evangelism has changed. Back 3 decades ago, when I was forced to go to church, Pentecostal, they would say that God gave us knowledge about medicine and health. They wouldn't go against science/medicine. You're being dismissive of God's wisdom if you choose not to get treatment.

I think the doctor simply used the patriarchal structure these bleeps choose to live in. She might be the pregnant one, but the doctor & her husband should have the ultimate say on her health, as a poor lowly woman she's obviously incapable to understand such complex things. The fact that she was insulted is peak cherry-picking.
Hopefully Alex Gooding, as a nurse practitioner, will be able to take better care of herself. If not, at least she will be leaving behind seven new little taxpayers.

Man, I think these people are desensitizing me to stupid people dying. My first though was "ok bye idiot" then I felt bad for her kids, then I felt bad for not valuing a humans life. Then I realized, these people are doing this to not just themselves but other women. Should I feel bad if they kill themselves? Would the world be better without them? Should we value human life and try to convince these people to save themselves? This is conflicting in the worst way.
@lolimmune Im an RN in NYC. The amount of tomes people tell me "Jesus" is the only way to help with medical problems is mind numbing. At this point im comfortable with "Ok, Say Hi to him when you meet Him, if you want real help talk to your Dr."
Yeah, it's easier to dismiss the stupidity but these poor suckers have been groomed for this behaviour. It's so frustrating. Where is our responsibility for allowing the perpetuation of harm? It would be easier to be an authoritarian and force secular education but then we're removing choice? Sigh, I do think children need to be protected from indoctrination but I have no idea how to enforce it ethically. Part of me thinks life must be easier with such simple rules and limited choices. It's such an evasion of personal responsibility to rely on a devine force. It's childish and irresponsible to risk the future of her entire family. I don't know why your comment inspired my rant, but I relate,
@melodyyoung9640 I keep forgetting we are all a product of how we were raised. My new thoery is everyone should have to live 1 year in a major city after HS. That would help broaden the mind.
You wouldn't jump from a plane without a parachute just because there are stories of people that have survived when a parachute didn't work. But someone that is not informed or thinking clearly might. Having bad mental health, being uneducated, being easily influenced by misinformation and being unreasonable can literally mean life or death.
@@PeteOtton It's something of a philosophical question. Still, I liken her situation to that of tripping when on hill, and then making no attempt to avoid rolling down the hill and over a cliff that one knows is there.
11:00 She's heard from more survivors than "not" because there are people (I'm guessing) who have lost the child, but survived, but don't consider themselves (or she doesn't consider them in the survivors "group") because they lost the baby. So she has papa, priest, and people who watch her that are all telling her "do it, do it, DO IT, *DO IT* " and she goes to a bias-affirming FB group with three types of individuals who are in it. People who beat the odds and are alive with living baby, people who beat the odds, but likely lived while losing baby and/or uterus, and people who know someone who (fill in the blank) and/or want others to be disposable incubators, whose thought processes are "It only takes 27 weeks to viability (no clue the correct number)..... so they think "If I can get Karen to hold out for 27 weeks, it doesn't matter if the incubator breaks, daddy'll get a live baby, and there are other incubators he can find to replace this one." Human psyche is so vulnerable to group-think. In my "research" on normal ectopic pregnancies (looking up stuff in NIH, Pub-Med, and other medical sources of info) I have found exactly ONE case of normal ectopic pregnancy that resulted in a viable fetus. Turns out mom had a massive tumor with a large blood supply that the embryo tapped into, allowing it to make it to term. It was only surgical intervention that allowed the child to be actually born alive, as it had no exit from the abdominal cavity, and mom lost her uterus. Right now approximately one to two pregnancies per one hundred are ectopic. With current trends politically, if a certain cheetoh becomes president, they'll make treating ectopic pregnancies as illegal as any other procedure for women who have a uterus, and they're okay if two out of every one hundred pregnancies result in an agonizing death for the woman and the "baby". Ultimately that only effects the people who can't afford a quick trip to europe to solve their little medical problem. And, since my comment is this long, I might as well make it longer.... I was born in 1968. My mother got pregnant within nine months of my birth, and my brother was born exactly 18 months after me. At the time she was pregnant with my brother, only a doctor could okay termination of a pregnancy. It was a subjective, opinion-and-personal-faith-based practice. My entire family got into a massive car wreck that was so bad, the first responders truthfully didn't think anyone in the 1960's era VW Bus could be alive. It was shredded, tin-canned, and unrecognizable. But one of the german shepherds my parents had in the car started to bark, so they knew he was alive, (two dogs, a toddler and a 10 month old baby, and a mom and a dad were all in the vehicle). Once they started investigating they heard the shrieks of an infant (me), the crying of a child, (sister) and the moans of our parents. Mum had her lap belt imbedded in her abdomen, her knee imbedded in the dash. Sis had a broken arm. I was in mum's lap and miraculously slid between her legs to land between her feet instead of being ejected (some teenager ran a red light, trying to get to his girlfriend who wanted to break up with him). All the skin was friction-burned off my face and the sides of my arms and legs. Dad was knocked unconscious. They took the whole family to the hospital (the dogs were fine, cared for by the pet services of the day). x-rayed both parents, saw that mum needed corrective surgery to her knee and stitches to her abdomen. She and dad suspected she was pregnant, and both were freaked out to find that she'd been x-rayed by the docs while the family was unable to give consent. (1970 was a different era!).... and mum had a "feeling" that the irradiation of her abdomen would have negative effects on the zygote within. Even though she wanted another child, she asked to have the pregnancy terminated. The doc, personally, was against it, so that was the end of the discussion. So my mum was forced to gestate and bear my brother. Who DID have massive issues and wreaked havoc on our lives and died when he was 13.... a brother I loved and hated.... I loved him like you love family, I hated him like any kid hates a sibling whose needs require 90% of the family resources. Mum knew best, but wasn't trusted to make that decision. She also miscarried after my brother was born. I can't help but wonder what that sibling would have been like. I've lived my whole live knowing that the difficulties my family faced were, in part, easily blamed on not allowing mum to make a choice about her body.... not for convenience, fiscal reasons, or that the child wouldn't be loved, but because she just *knew* something was wrong. I love my life. I'll be 56 this year. But the impact of that one lack of trust has been a driving force in my whole existence.
I'm adopted. My adoptive mom had an ectopic pregnancy which bc of medical practices destroyed her fertility. If she'd let an ectopic pregnancy kill her, she would not have been MY mom. Absurd!
I agree with everything you're saying, especially the part about how she's giving other women hope that they'll be a "brave surviver", too. But you need to remember that these women's identities are totally consumed by right-wing Christianity. This is something you don't understand at all (I have no first hand experienceof this, either). But in her mind, having an abortion is doing her will, not God's, and it's not an option that even occurs to her. Yes she's risking her life, but the alternative is risking eternal punishment. She has been able to (apparently) totally hide her fear of death behind her faith. An amazing feat, even though continuing denial is not a sure thing and will probably come back to bite her. As for her children, her love of God far outweighs her love of them. Her God requires this. She has successfully put God above all else, and this is the result. But she has saved her soul. What is more arrogant and self-righteous and selfish than that?
Getting a vibe that all these babies are about her getting attention, and sadly not about the actual kids. IMO she could benefit from intensive professional therapy. Most of us have many very good reasons to disagree with her decision to go against medical advice but SHE GETS TO DECIDE how to manage her own healthcare. EVERY WOMAN SHOULD HAVE THAT RIGHT!
At what point do we stop caring and let her do what she wants, even if it kills her? We cannot continue to save these people from themselves forever. She might not be around to see the consequences of her actions, but what about everyone else with whom she interacts? No, I do not want her to doe, but if she outright refuses to do what is necessary to live, what are we supposed to do?
If there was a similar cult where instead of offing themselves via denying themselves healthcare the members all wanted to throw themselves off a cliff, what can society do to save them? Not much. Sad.
Yeah its basically a cult that throws themselves off a cliff, what could we possibly do to stop them if they sincerely belief that they _have_ to jump to meet God?
I was told by a Maternal Fetal Medicine OB, "Baby [fetus] doesn't do well if [pregnant] mom dies." Sounds as if she is in a state that allows her to choose one or the other, anyway. Lucky her.
"I'm not killing my baby." Nope, you're letting a failed pregnancy possibly kill you. Congratulations, you're a stable genius.
Honestly, I don't mind if people want to risk their lives for the not viable. If you believe that is your purpose, go on. People go into conflict zones and we don't judge them. Who we choose to save is never a wrong choice. It's when they want ME to risk my life for the not viable when I get all sardonic and sassy with others. We deserve to choose who we save with our body.

SIX babies in heaven? It seems like God sure doesn't mind terminating pregnancies.
One third of pregnancies ends in a natural abortion in the first three months. Yep God or nature has no trouble ending non-viable pregnancies.
The reason we can reasonably infer that there are more miscarriages is that some women can present with evidence of a probable miscarriage but without a confirmed pregnancy result are not counted
So, it seems like God terminates about 1 in 5 pregnancies

In America today she would be left to die.

Ummm excuse me, *iron* age
I wonder if she thinks her eldest kids are going to take care of the kids she leaves behind, because her husband sure isn't.
They probably already take care of the younger ones.
Selfish and delusional. And quite probably will cause other women to delude themselves too.
I honestly don't believe her.
Yeah, nowadays there’s people who would do anything for tiktok clicks. Very possible it’s a made up or grossly exaggerated story.
Me neither. She is still entitled to medical confidentiality, so no medics can contradict her, even if they know for a fact she is lying.
That's what I was thinking the whole time too. Sounds like she's setting up for a miracle 🤷🏼♀️
She's trying to martyr herself, quite literally.
Miscarriages are incredibly common, more so than most men realize.
But apparently they all end up in heaven, so all good!! I wonder if they go to heaven as a bunch of cells or as a fully developed baby? Do they grow up to adulthood in heaven? So many questions someone could ask her! And l reckon she wouldn’t have a frigging clue. Just another religious fruitcake although l feel sorry for her ignorance, it’s probably going to get her killed.
yes over 30% I think. when maga wants to track miscarriages that's all I can think of. miscarriages are Extremely under reported and under documented.
Sure they’re common but having that many is not. It’s a red flag
It's not even viable, but don't let that keep you from leaving your brood with no protection from your husband.
I'm sure the irony that God put the child there is so far over their head they worship it too.

Maybe her hubbie stays off her when she's pregnant??
Hmm yeah, she obviously is getting something out of it.

Yeah. That sounds about right. They only care about their moral bragging rights.
That's so sad.
Sad
She is rolling the dice with more than just her life....

A problem with the FB "I survived this, no biggie, so you can too" lot is that they don't pay any attention to the details and factors that made it possible for that one single person to get their happily ever after. No two situations are identical even when the main diagnosis is the same.
Or they are lying.
Not to mention that women who don't survive don't post on FB.

Pro-choice goes both ways, but an ectopic pregnancy is 100% fatal and painful. This woman is stupid for continuing it, there’s nothing noble about what she’s doing.
Her body, her choice. I only get angry when abortions are denied when asked for.
When she gets to the afterlife and tells God she had faith in him and he let her down and then God will tell her "i sent you all of these doctor's advice and you just ignored them".
I think it's a perfect example. You get to CHOOSE! The decision is yours not the government's.
16:15 Wait. I thought that these women wanted their husbands making all the decisions fore them. Why is she suddenly mad and against him doing so now?
Tell me you are virtue signaling without telling me you are virtue signaling.
The delusion is terrifying.

I don't even trust she isn't lying about being preggers, sorry 😐
When she “miraculously survives” with a “healthy baby” GOP politicians will point to her as to why schmortion is never necessary, especially because god & jesus will save the faithful.
She probably is telling the truth about being pregnant, because unless she claims a miscarriage, that can be falsified. But thanks to medical confidentiality laws, she can claim any complication she wants, and no one will ever be any wiser.

@@jospinner1183 Sure it’s natural selection. She’s likely to not have any further children. Moreover if she dies her children are probably at a disadvantage effecting their probability of reproducing.
she already reproduced multiple times, and the men have no problem finding another woman to replace her im sure.
makes me wonder if some of these women aren't addicted to either the attention they get from pregnancy or something along those lines.
Anyone who calls abortion "Murder" is already talking falsehoods. Murder is only murder when declared so by a verdict.
Wait...she had a C-Section?! Clearly God is punishing her for using modern medicine.

This is insanity.
I think she should prove her story is true. I don't trust this kind of people.
Or the doctor knows her and knew talking with her about it was a lost cause.
How evangelism has changed. Back 3 decades ago, when I was forced to go to church, Pentecostal, they would say that God gave us knowledge about medicine and health. They wouldn't go against science/medicine. You're being dismissive of God's wisdom if you choose not to get treatment.

Spot on Friendly Atheist. I think it's extremely selfish of her to not put her existing children ahead of a probably unviable pregnancy.
People who beat the odds and are alive with living baby, people who beat the odds, but likely lived while losing baby and/or uterus, and people who know someone who (fill in the blank) and/or want others to be disposable incubators, whose thought processes are "It only takes 27 weeks to viability (no clue the correct number)..... so they think "If I can get Karen to hold out for 27 weeks, it doesn't matter if the incubator breaks, daddy'll get a live baby, and there are other incubators he can find to replace this one."
Human psyche is so vulnerable to group-think.
I'm just saying first responders don't stand around a wrecked vehicle assuming everyone inside is dead
@@ysf-psfx Likely true. I was 10 months old. I can only relate the story as told by my family. I guess I should have said, "My parents tell me..."

I agree. I’m happy that this decision isn’t contagious/deadly to the rest of us like the rona.
