    THanks bro! Just bought the at2020 tonight, and saw that they were the same price but one was newer, I thought I made a huge mistake but I didn't.

      That's a great mic and it will last you a very long time. It will need some help with some EQ and post processing but once you get the settings right you will be happy with it for as long time. You don't have to do much just get it to fit your voice, that can be said about most microphones. Thanks for checking out the video! Let me know how you like the AT2020 and if you need any help just give me a shout!

      @The Caring Adolf Hitler The AT2035 is almost twice the price of the AT2020, it's around £140 in most places whereas the AT2020 is only £75, I would be pretty pissed off if it wasn't a lot better

    Fun to see all the comments saying "2020 is better!"
    They're vastly different mics with different applications. As a dynamic, with solid side rejection, I bet it's honestly probably really solid as a mic on a snare drum. Probably also works really solid for live vocal demo takes for bands in a noisy room.

    Nice review Man. I hope that you can continue doing this type of content by creating honest reviews like this one.
    Nowadays, UA-cam is missing honest review due to most of people are creating content sponsor and not giving the real true of the product.

      This means a lot. I really enjoy making videos and it is a great hobby that has a cool community attached to it. I'll do my best to put out solid honest content! Thanks for the support and the kind words!

    I have both and needed better control over the ambient noise in my neighbourhood, hence the purchasing of the 2040. My only caveat was I needed a cloudlifter which was worth it in my book, but that's one strike against it to some. The audio quality in both is astoundingly good for the price point, but I would actually point novice podcasters into the direction of the ATR2100 or the AT2005 USB, both of which are excellent value and don't require either XLR cables or audio interfaces.

      Background noise is definitely a big g selling point for this mic. I never used a mic activator with it, I have good preamps so that helps. What interface do you have?

      @@RebelTech1990 at2040 going into a Coda MB-1 going into a 2nd Generation Scarlett Solo. With the Coda I was able to drop the gain from roughly 8.5-9 down to about 4 easily and get a much much cleaner vocal and don't need to tweak anything in post-production.

    • @RebelTech1990
      @RebelTech1990  2 роки тому

      That’s my issue with the Scarlet solos, their pre amps are just ok. Their higher end interfaces have more gain and better pre amps but for budget options there are some other brands that I prefer.
      Not to say that there’s anything wrong with them. It’s just they need some help with mics that require a lot of gain.

    • @qfapodcastabouthowardstern
      @qfapodcastabouthowardstern 2 роки тому

      @@RebelTech1990 Yeah, it's a trade-off like anything else--I just don't have the space for a larger pre-amp and wanted something very very portable in a moment's notice that I could carry around with my laptop and not notice the weight.

    Personally? The 2020 seems better for singing and the 2040 seems better for spoken word.
    That's me on Sennheiser HD 206 budget headphones if anyone cares.
    But I like the mids on the 2040 for spoken word. Really smooth at the price. AT2020 is the go to though for home recording on a budget.
    Everyone wanting to start a home recording studio should look at the Berhinger XM8500 or Pyle or Stagg Shure SM57 copies.
    An AT2020, a USB 4xXLR card and a couple of those mics will sort you out for any home recording in decently sound proofed rooms, including drums, that can sound pro with some mixing.
    Peace.

    i think the 2020 is more for singing and the 2040 is more for gaming, streaming, or a podcast. i personally chose the at 2040. i do think its missing the lows tho
    edit: i didn't realize he said the same thing lol 22:33

    Well I am sharing a (large) desk with my gf so I picked up the AT2040 instead of the AT2020 just because it will record less background noises including her.

    • @RebelTech1990
      @RebelTech1990  2 роки тому +1

      That’s a very smart idea. A condenser would have trouble with rejecting that noise. It can be done but it takes a lot of prep and practice.

      I want them to make a old school style mic. Make it like the Shure SM5b and call it the Zoom Zephyr. I would love that and I don't think anyone will buy it, except me of course. Thanks for checking out the video Carlos!

    Yes the AT2020 is better by far. From dynamics I would prefer the AKG D5, is waaaay much better, just put it on a stand

    As someone who uses a mic for a lot of things (discord, video meetings, music recording, and occasionally livestreaming) and I already have a blue yeti but it picks up way too much background/surrounding noise, it's also super heavy so it doesn't work with most scissor arm mic stands. I'm just not sure which of these mics I should replace it with. Hoping someone in these comments can help me decide lol. Also I have a slightly more higher pitch voice for a guy.

    • @M_Ateh_Myers
      @M_Ateh_Myers 6 місяців тому

      im a novice but i would recommend a dynamic microphone which is the AT2040. if I am right, the blue yeti is a condenser mic which yesm it will pick up background/ surrounding noise. you can edit the voice recording by editing the audio with noise cancelling. if you are doing livestreaming etc, at2040 or any recommended dynamic mic should do the trick

      @@RebelTech1990 got it about two days ago. Already took a sm7b from my business ( broadcast studio ) and comparing the two a few days now . I totally see what you mean with the low cutoff . Still ( I have a very low voice ) I like the way the 2040 ‘airs up’ my voice but I also love the moody bass sound of the sm7b . Thinking of incorporating it into the studio setup for podcasts and such with a more ‘light ‘ theme . Thanks again for the inspiration!!!

    Friend, i m interested to buy AT2020 but pls suggest me how to remove the background fan and AC noise while using AT2020..because i m from India which has very hot weather and it's impossible to record without fan and AC

    • @RebelTech1990
      @RebelTech1990  Рік тому

      If this is your situation, I would suggest getting a dynamic microphone. You will reject more background noise, naturally, and you’ll be closer to the mic because that’s how they are used. I have a bunch of dynamic mic videos if your are interested
