Hey Mike I’m subscribed to your channel came across it today and man I would love to get back into racing I’m from Brooklyn use to race from Florida to Coney Island miss those days..love your channel
Absolutely, they are frightened to land because of the attacks they’ve been getting. I just have to be patient and let them land when they are comfortable.
Mike love the videos keep them coming. one question what are you feeding the racing team and what are you feeding older birds once you said corn and rabbit pellets but it looks like maybe barley also
Thank you for putting my idea of entrance as thumbnail. As a failsafe you can also add aviary type tunnel on the inside the trap and put a second scanning pad.
Good strategy to deter the hawks. Yes, they get distracted from hunting when humans are around. I like the shorter races! Your birds are great . . Beautiful! Good luck on your returns! 🎉❤🕊️🕊️
Hi mike well done in the race i think they know your in the loft and come in quicker with the whisling, rather than just flying around i bet you would have been in the first birds home
Yes, I would have placed a lot higher if they went straight in when they got home, but when there’s fear of hawks ambushing them as soon as they touchdown, it kind of ruins things. They will overcome it I’m sure. 👍
Long distance birds always be like that... we always had the same problem on short races .. never wanted to land because short races were just like an exercise day for em.
I hear ya, they're just like little athletes and I have noticed in past years, they drop down much better after 200+ mile races. It’s no big deal. I just enjoy the day. Thanks for your comment, my friend.
Got to work on trapping Mike! Your loosing way to much time. If you don’t want to whistle try shaking a feed can, or incorporate a dropper, it will help the birds feel comfortable coming down when they see another bird down. Birds did very well considering the mix up, and your drops are impressive this year.
Thanks for the tip, I watch them every day and ever since they’ve been hit consistently with the Cooper’s Hawk there’s nothing that will bring them down comfortably. I know what you mean about droppers, but you have to realize I have birds sitting out everywhere so that’s not much different than droppers. I was thinking about the feed can which I used to shake one but I just feel that they’re not going to come down until they’re ready at this ,unfortunately. I’m hoping now when the races get longer, they will just risk going straight in because of exhaustion. Thanks buddy and you two are hanging in there like professionals 😀👍
@@Rocky.Ridge.Pigeons try the dropper, although they do see birds in the aviary it’s not the same as seeing a bird fly to the trap. It’s like a magnet, it will bring them down. But you will have to watch the birds, as they are coming in and can see the dropper release. And you don’t have to use a specific breed just take a bird that doesn’t like flying or trim the flights so it can’t fly very far and try it. Why not? If it doesn’t work you can’t say you didn’t try it right?
Have you tried to separate the cocks from the hens in the loft see if makes them more keen. Let them run together on day of basketing for 30mins 👍👌it means you have to partion your loft.
I did try that two years ago and it wasn’t really an appropriate Loft to do that. so I’m not sure if the results were any better because of that reason but it’s always something to consider. Thanks
They just spooked by the hawks that’s the only reason they’re not dropping right away doesn’t matter if I use droppers or not but thanks for your comment. I appreciate it.
It’s harder for them to jump over the top of each other and not scan in when they do that. Now that they have to squat down and walk over the scanner. I get them all to scan in. That’s a great question. Thanks for your interest.
They wouldn’t help in my opinion because they are not landing for two reasons. Number one the race is way too short and number two the Hawks have them spooked right now. Thank you for your comment.
love your beautiful pigeons

Thanx for sharing! We are only allowed 40 birds, 20 in our A race and 20 in our B race. These pigeons are gonna do what they do!

Great job Mike!! And I agree even if some birds don’t make good timing, as long as they make it back home with those distance.
It’s good to see them all return, they’re all good birds 👍

Thanks for the tip on the tunnel, I'm always open to new ideas. 👍
Nice update Mike
Hopefully the other birds come home.
Thanks buddy, I hope so too.
The best video 👍👍🤝
Thank you, I appreciate the support!
Hi Mike I am glad the birds are doing well. Short races are like this and also the hawks. Good luck 🌹🌹😘😘🕊️🕊️🕊️
Appreciate the support! They will get in much quicker on the long races that’s for sure
👍

Nice clip Mike, maybe can try the food instead of whistle?
Yes, I trapped them in shaking a food can today and I think I’ll keep doing that 👍
Nice work Mike .
You can update your M1 online if you like .
Take care
Thanks, I’ve been meaning to call about that. It’s the Benzing Live. I’m having trouble with so possibly they can do something about that.
Do you have the G4 live upgrade system?
I had to get a new one when the G3 was not longer up .
@@StratosLoft I don’t even know I bought it used and it worked for about four or five races so I just need to find some time to check into it

Try a drop bird or 2
This is the first time I ever see the other side of your yard you got a shitload of coops
Yes, you’re also seeing some dog kennels from that angle
why do you have a board across the trap to make it smaller ?
