Legend Lara will forever be my definition of Lara Croft. She's had so much personality and wit in that game and we've seen her display so many different emotions and react to things in so many different ways that I don't think we had in any one single TR game before. The portrayal and voice acting were perfect. She was just cool. I miss the times when it was expected of characters to be cool. Now everyone wants video game characters to be "realistic" and "relatable", but the reality is that majority of people are bland and boring, so what's relatable to most will always be dull. "relatable" should never be the standard in the entertainment industry.
even though I don't like the family melodrama, I do love legend Lara. She was super sassy, witty, clever and a badass. By far, the most entertaining version of the character. I wish the game was longer and less linear tought ;/
Angelina Jolie's portrayal of Lara Croft is probably my favorite. The movies are what introduced me to the games. But if I had to pick a game iteration, The Angel of Darkness is probably my favorite iteration of her. She's so grumpy and whimsical in that game lol
Same the movies introduced me to the games and I really liked Angelina as Lara she was the perfect spitting image of the character confident, kind, badass, and sexy 10/10.
Angelina Jolie's Lara croft is literally lore accurate of core design's lara croft. it's the best live action lara croft that we had on the big screen. i wish jolie would come back and provide voice over for Lara in a animated tomb raider series.
@@Jeymez They said she was grumpy. Meaning, her demeanor - not her face. Btw your theory is disproven by this video alone. Lara literally has a different face in each game. Did you even watch the video? Or did you just go straight to comments to showcase your lack in intellect?
@@escape2064 of course i watched, but Lara always had that face, atleast classic Lara. so it's not so much her demeanor, she looks like she's grumpy. yes all Lara's had different faces, but you have to separate Legends Lara and the reboot Lara from classic Lara. Core Design had a certain way they designed her, Legends Lara looks similar but there are differences. Angel of Darkness Lara was the best classic Lara looked up to that point in terms of graphics, the earlier PlayStation titles Tomb Raider 1 & 2 they had to animate the face, but with Angel of Darkness you can see more detail since they could do more with the character.
Unpopular opinion, but I think the survival trilogy Lara is more realistic. She could easily be a girl from my area. I come from a rural area in the south of the Netherlands. Many of my friends love the outdoors, history, archaeology, adventure holidays, survival games, etc. Nostalgia wise I think I'd pick Tomb Raider Chronicles Lara. Most sexy Lara is Tomb Raider Underworld Lara, plus the doppelgänger Lara of that game.
I think Angelina Jolie depicted the bold, badass, sensual attitude of ol' good Lara to perfection. The 'newer' movie and the 1st modern reboot game's Laras are too naive and spoiled-teenager like. I do like the last two games and its Lara, a more mature and stronger version of the reboot, but she's still a completely different character. Lara Croft shouldn't be naive.
I don't think Lara was insecure in Shadow at all! She was definetly willing to do whatever it takes to get what she wanted in that game, she even became a ruthless killer when she thought her friend was dead. I hardly disagree on this one.
While I do think its silly to complain about fictional characters, but the version of Lara in the reboot series is too much of a softball you know like there are hundreds of cut throats in the world of treasure hunters and Lara just doesn’t seem to fit in properly. Its almost as though she’s reading lines even when she conveys her feelings towards the villains. Personally I got the impression that the writers just wanted rush these moments and only focus on Lara when she’s talking to herself or with friends. Before the reboot series Lara was playful with not only dangerous situations but also with her enemies and loved to go swimming with the sharks I think literally but sharks I also mean villainous treasure hunters. She loved taking blind chances and thrived in it. Kinda like James Bond at least thats what she reminded me of. Tomb raider 2013 was an excellent game but it was the following sequels that ruined most of what was so likeable about her.
I liked Lara in TR 2013 from the perspective of an unexperienced girl at her first Adventure. But I do not like what they try to do with her since Shadow of the Tomb Raider. It's not the attempt to tell a origin story anymore, now they want to create a new Lara who is nothing alike to the original one. What's even worse they act as if the old Lara was bad and the new is the ultimate Version of her. I wish someone would give her coolness and badass behaviour back. They want to have a strong women, but they already had one...THE strong women.
Bro I can't believe you put crybaby Lara over Chronicles Lara Croft 😑🤦🏻.Thats an actual disrespect no lie! The Last Revelations and Chronicles is actually the same Lara Croft. I salute you for having TR 2 and Legend Lara on the top 2. The Last Revelations/Chronicles should have been higher than The Rise of the Tomb Raider.
Great video man, I really enjoyed watching it! This must not have been an easy ranking to do! 😅 I agree with both your lowest (especially Chronicles Lara) and highest rankings here. The middle versions of Lara are less clear for me to rank. Great job! 😎
I must admit, TR2 Lara Croft has historically been my absolute favorite as well!! 😄 Although TR Chronicles Lara beats ANY Survivor era TR game Lara ANY DAY. 😝
The only games I consider canon are the ones that fit this timeline of mine (hope the time set in between games is realistic enough for her development): -Tomb Raider (2013); -Anniversary (I simply pretend it's set in 2017); -Legend (2021); -Underworld (2021); -Tomb Raider 3 (2022); -Revelation (2023); -Chronicles (2023); -Angel of Darkness (2024). What about you ? How do you build your timeline ?
In terms of character design, my favorite version of Lara is from Underworld. Second is Rise, third is Anniversary (though her face gives off a young mom vibe here). In terms of personality, I just ignore the trilogy and go back to the original. Original knows best.
As for my favorite iteration of Lara, it's hard to narrow it down. I will say that I personally feel that AOD Lara Croft is overrated because I felt she was a bully at times. I disapproved of her threatening the civilians of Paris she interacted with. It felt like it was an unnecessary provocation. Especially, since they didn't say anything that should make Lara worry. I like Lara's cool, sassy, smart, respectful, and confident personality as displayed in the Classic and Legend timelines. No whiney or bullying Lara.
@@BartolisHideoutGaming Yeah, I loved TR2 Lara as well. She's tough but compassionate. No hate of AOD Lara, I still liked her. It's mostly the Paris section that I felt she should've behaved better. But, I'm willing to overlook that because of her hardships with Egypt and Werner Von Croy. But, I hope post-AOD Lara will return as her compassionate self.
ikr it's one of many reasons why i have a strong opinions towards 2013 trilogy bcuz lara was NEVER whinny and a crybaby and has none of her personality traits characteristics they changed everything about her that made lara croft, lara croft. I'm still stunned that square had the nerve to changed everything to an Legacy IP that passed down to them courtesy of eidos to a franchise that they didn't even create. on top of that making her mentor into a sailor LMFAO! it doesn't get any lower than that. what a downgrade from weapons to enemies and everything else. what a mischaracterization of lara croft.
Well she is British and that are just arrogant french civilians. There whole attitude is arrogant. So no problem with Lara treating them as what the are, french.
They are All Lara Croft. I have such love and respect for what each of them bring no matter what version of her I’m playing, watching or reading! ❤️👏🏻❤️👏🏻❤️
TombRaider 2 was the first I ever played, still would love to play it again, I personally love seeing young Lara and her development, the new game should be awesome
I don't really think one can seperate different versions of Lara by game. For example, TR2013, Rise of the TR and Shadow of TR are all part of one story and one character - so I can't seperate TR2013 version from the Rise of TR. So, your whole methodology is a bit inconsistent. With that being said, I think there are 4 major different versions of Lara: 1. Classic Lara (TR 1-3) - Original and the most consistent Lara we ever had, completely self-made, likes to adventure alone and be alone, doesn't pursue higher moral goals, is a bit of an anti-hero with very few moral scruples. Character is written to be an authority on obscure artefacts, she is witty and has good sense of humor. Each game features a complete self-contained storyline from beginning to the end. 2. Revelation Lara (4-6) - Time when Core Design started experimenting with new things and ideas, which resulted in some changes to the character and games. The games are no longer self-contained stories - instead they are serialized and always end on a cliffhanger or sequel-tease. I am including TR6 here, because it continues the story of 4 and 5. Furthermore, Lara is written more as a sarcastic vixen - and interacts more with people from her past. Occasionally, she even has to ask old friends for lore about ancient artefacts, which is especially glaring once one realizes that this is the type of lore Lara should know about. The tutorial mansion is gone and she has also been given a mentor which was never mentioned in the previous games. As such, it is a clear departure from the original series of games. 3. Legend Lara (TR Legend-TR Anniversary-TR Underworld) - Americanized version of Lara in which she is no longer raiding tombs for her own pleasure and fame. Now, she is doing it because she has some unresolved mommy and daddy issues. Crystal Dynamics starts changing Lara's design with each next iteration to the point that she looks like she went through plastic surgery in each subsequent game. Still, she at least resembles her former self at times. 4. Reebot Lara or anti-Lara (TR2013, Rise of the TR and Shadow of TR) - A pathetic, whiny moral crusader that still manages to be as bland as a cardboard cut-out full of most bland and generic stereotypes one usually associates with goody-two-shoes characters. A tone-deaf ensemble full of explosions, bombastic zip-line swinging, health-regenerating-ammo-teleporting-tombless-action-packed-dumbfuckery in which Lara is constantly abused by numerous male characters - and in which she keeps switching from a traumatized abuse victim to John Rambo on steroids who heavily moans, whines and breathes non-stop!
I agree. But I think all core design Lara is the same, Do to the artifacts in her house. 🤔 so there's only 3 Lara. Angelina Lara is core design of course. Yeah this video list is weird.
All Lara models where good. But my Favourites would be Tomb Raider Legend, the Japan outfit and Rise of the Tomb Raider , the cut scenes of Lara were very good. Great video. Steve 👍
The reboot trilogy made Lara into a more realistic, three-dimensional character, not just an angry pair of boobs with guns - as great as that is. In the reboot, she is compassionate and only kills when forced to in order to survive, while also accomplishing more humanitarian goals other than mere "treasure hunting." Meanwhile, she is still awesome. I love the old, kick-ass Lara as well, but the modern depiction is more compelling from a narrative standpoint, IMO, and makes her into a true heroine rather than a rampaging, heartless caricature. Showing emotions other than anger and greed makes her more human and less cartoonish. Shadow of the Tomb Raider deserves to be a lot higher.
My fave is Original Lara (of course, it's my favourite game as well) because of her personality. She is tough but still polite (the conversation with Larson), she is cool but still a bit clumsy (when she arrives in the boat by jumping off the bike), she's smart and "only plays for sport" :) But I think, TR1-3 Laras are the same, aren't they? Great video as always man, was fun and very entertaining to watch!! Oh and I love the way you see Chronicles Lara!
For me, respecting of course ALL the opinions, all the versions that LARA has are BEAUTIFUL and FASCINATING. I'm not only referring to the quality of the GRAPHICS that it has been able to have since its INCEPTION, but mainly to her IMMORTAL ESSENCE and MEANING. Which is, ultimately, the SOURCES from which her REASON for existing emanates. Needless to say, her LEGACY and VALUES will remain INTACT for as long as the world EXISTS. LARA CROFT deserves it in HER OWN RIGHT.
Personaly, I prefer Lara's version from Legend and SOfTB. In the first case we see a Lara snarky, sassy, implacable but also more sensitive and human respect to the Old version. The New Lara is having a interessant growth; she is becoming more and more strong, capable to be ruthless and bloddy but without lose her human treats, she still loves her parents and friends and she is willing to sacrifice herself for to save the word. Old Lara was very cool, but also too cold and detached.
Yeah old Lara was a bit detached, I agree but I believe that it is because of the week storyline and lesser VA lines. Still it is the Lara that I enjoyed the most probably because of those exact same reasons. Lara was a bad ass women even with very few lines and your imagination would just flow in regards to her
@@BartolisHideoutGaming Well yes, but for me she is un-sympatheic in firts 5 games. Oh, I really likes Angelina's Lara. This version was a perfect mix between Old Lara and Legend Lara. A badass who love danger and adventure, but with a big heart and capable to do the right thing.
My favorite version would be survivor for her origins and Legend for ever other adventure. Speaking of Legend, do you know what's best part of having the trilogy in one disk ? You get to play the three games as if they were this big personal movie ("Underworld" is the movie's present day section, while "Legend" is mostly the first set of flashbacks and "Anniversary" the second set). Right now I'm at the crypt: -The first set of flashbacks in that section are the first parts of "Anniversary" (Qualopec's tomb and Pierre's first encounter), as Lara reflects on her first encounter with Natla's abominations and how her life and businesses have no line in between like Pierre said there should be; -The second set is gonna be after Lara recovers the second glove, remembering her search for the Excalibur's fragments after confirming Amanda's survival (the flashbacks are about the search for power and knowledge and what it can do to anyone and anything), ending just before Ruthland's death. Did you ever play videogames in a similar way ?
Yeah… Survivor - Legend - classics but with a lot of plot holes and canon that doesn’t fit. Crystal will obviously have to “forget” about a lot of history to make a cohesive storyline that can put all timelines together… honestly I think they will forget about the Legend timeline and just try to somehow fit some of the survivor and classic storyline into this new game
@@BartolisHideoutGaming I simply use my imagination to its extreme for the plot holes and contradictions. For example, I imagine "Anniversary" is set in 2017 (4 years after "Tomb Raider" reboot). And after "Underworld" (set in 2021), I try to mix a bit the stories of "Tomb raider 2 and 3" (set in 2022), in order to create a whole new story that features the return of Sam and Jonah while fighting the mad scientist from 3 that is sponsored by the cult from 2. I completely ignore the other two games from "Survivor".
@@BartolisHideoutGaming another thing I did was come up with the explanation that Lara repressed her memories of Nepal (hence why in Yamatai she didn't believe in the Queen still being alive), but after the Island, her memories started being unlocked, until it all came back to her in "Legend". As for the increase in the flexibility, that's why there's a 4 year pause between her first two adventures, it's to give her time to develop her physical habilities after unlocking them during Yamatai. As for Werner, because of his absence and fear of involving Lara in his search for answers on what happened to Amelia, he hired Werner to act as her mentor in his name.
Tomb Raider 1996. The whole game is like the beginning of Raiders of the Lost Arc, where Indy comes off as a cold, man-of-few-words. I like your ranking though. I haven't played the last Tomb Raider since I hate that character, but because of your take on it, I now want to give it a try.
Rise of the tomb raider is my favorite, but i really like the sassy, confident classic lara from the classic, if the developer want to make another lara croft game, they should add that sassy, badass, smart, confident. oh and they should make lara beautiful again
shadow gave her more depth and if you played any of the challenge tombs you’d see how she is… she was more emotional rather than some stoic one dimensional character
Legend Lara is my favorite. Wish we could get that confident Lara again. I was really disappointed that at the end of the new trilogy she still wasnt the Lara we wanted.
Best one for me is Angelina Jolie. Even mods goes so well with the reboots. Pro treasure seekers to me is like a young woman beautiful and fit but not a fighter and that’s where Lara Croft comes in. The classic games I mean.
@@MaRdi-h4h yes, I can understand that, and that personality is a big part of the reboot Lara but most fans are ready to return to the classic Lara personality that I’m sure you’re going to love and admire 🙏
I kinda disagree. She def talks more than in TR1 and I felt that TR2 was the game that you actually end up knowing Lara's personality, but I might be biases so yeah, glad other people have other opinions... IYO which Lara is the real one? Kinda curious! :)
@@BartolisHideoutGaming Maybe if you count what she says in the training level. But I'm pretty sure she says less in the main game. The Angel of Darkness Lara is my favourite Lara from the games. But I think the Top Cow comics version is my favourite overall. I wasn't as big a fan as the Angelina Jolie version as a lot of people are. Or the Legend version either for that matter, which I think too inspiration from the Jolie version.
@@gilgamesh310 it did Terry Sheridan from the TR movies seems take inspiration from TR comics Chase Carver, both of them are former acquaintance of Lara Croft, both have military experience, on the run from the law and both of them dies.
@@arseniica as I said, that version of Lara Croft is not even Lara Croft herself! It is a narrated version of Lara, it is someone else’s memories of her and memories over time are not always 100% accurate as what is stored in your brain can change over time, so yeah, that’s why!
Say what you want, but to me, Lara 2013 remain the best in the franchise. Reason being, for the most realistic Lara yet. Character filled with emotions and expressions, simply human. Challanged by survival odds and injuries. Unlike the others, where she is like superhero style. And this comes from someone who played all Lara games, since TR1 on ps1.
i don't feel like ranking them all but here is my top 3,,, Number one is TR2 Lara, Number two is The last Revelation Lara and Number 3 Is Tomb Raider 1 or Anniversary Lara
Forgot about it 🤦♂️ but she’s very similar to TR2, just a little under developed as TR2 was the game that build Lara’s personality so I would put TR3 up there on the top 5 below TR2
Give me Rise, Underworld, Legend, Anniversary and Legend. Those are the only TRs that I need right now, it would be nice to get another five TRs in my lifetime, but if no others are ever created, these five are good enough to quench my TR thirst. Now, if CD can remaster Legend's and Anniversary's graphics and add some new content than that would be awesome and along with a new TR with a hotter Lara like the one in Underworld, than that would be ideal and bring Lara back to the top
Hmm I think it will be hard to remaster those games as they were remastered for the PS3 and it didn’t sell well, but we never know, I would take that as well 😅
@@BartolisHideoutGaming I didn't know that, maybe a total reimagining is what's in order. Lara needs to shoot at more than a few bats, a bear, and a tiger. It's time for CD to grow up the game, bigger and longer battles, also, less time on the acrobatics, that is getting old - there is not one game that use to do that and is still doing well. More battles CD!!
I find the survivor version of Lara to be the epitome of the pandering modern idea of a female protagonist Strong for the sake of being strong and unnecessarily gritty
There's no way you can tell me with a straight face that the first 2013 reboot game makes Lara "strong for the sake of strong". She has a great, compelling character arc going from a overly scared, introverted college girl to a tougher person. Its done in a way that its not "pandering" for the "modern audiences". Don't know what the hell you're talking about.
anniversary and underworld lara is way better than legend lara,, ,in anniversary she works alone and is an actual tomb raider unlike in legends,, she has a sassy personality in anniversary but just enough of it,, its not overly done like in legends,, also why is legends considered a tomb raider game or even a really good tr game is beyond me because its really just a very short action game with a mix of Movie and classic lara,,, if 2013 its not considered a very good tomb raider game because it was action heavy and didn't have enough tombs,,, legends should not be considered one either because they are both on the same category,,, the only difference is that legends has a lara that looks and acts like' ''Classic'' and if that is all she has how can she be better than underworld and especially Anniversary Lara, ?
@@Jonny93warriors underworld just followed on Legend’s story so there wasn’t that big of a difference on attitude and personality. And legend showed us a bit more of Lara’s feelings. Even tho I thought it was cheesy specially on today’s standards. That’s my opinion 👍
Me personally! For the next game and going forward for the full future of the franchise I need a Lara from the games of TR2 because she is super confident and she goes after what she wants and dont apologize, TR Legend because she is badass and energetic and Shadow of the TR because at least she does have some type of caring side to her dispite her confident, unapologetic, badass, and energetic personality traits from TR2 and TR legend because it will make her to some degree of a wellrounded person and believable. Last of course from SOTTR her muscular 💪🏾athletic build; I personally do not want Lara to appear "barbie skinny", like she does in the unrealistic older games, in the future games. It's realistic for her to have an athletic build and not be considered (less feminine looking) it will just add on to her badass image that she already has as a character because she does a lot of climbing, jumping, running, walking, etc so a real human being will need to be some degree of fit to accomplish all of this.
@@BartolisHideoutGaming At this point ( despite the recent reboot making top sales and IGN scores compared to the orignal games) with all the complaining on social media about all these different versions of her and also how most fans talk more about classic Lara more than they do about the recent Lara on social media, If they are a real video game company that makes video games for comsumers and not for themselves they must have listened already but time will tell once all of these new projects that has already been in the works for the franchise are released in the near future.
@Bartolis Hideout Gaming yeah same here. I'm tired of the negative backlash the franchise is getting and I'm not even a part of the backlash. I need Lara and the games themselves to be back on top going forward before the current developers mishandle the franchise again maybe for some fans and may cause further decline of the franchise altogether unless the new generation "Gen Z" falls in love 💰💵 (dollar signs) with this new Lara that's under works they might overlook what the original fans may say once again. Because at the end it's about money and sales unfortunately despite what people complain about but I have hopes for Crystal Dynamics, I think they are on the right track with unifying the timelines and Lara's personality.
Hahaha that’s cool! Opinions are made to be different. I’m sure if AOD was finished, we would know exactly what kind of Lara we would be dealing with but unfortunately it is not. The personality of Underworld Lara is well stablished and putting the cringe story aside (as we are not ranking that), she is a freaking badass girl that it is capable of making thing done on her own but also can work alongside her team etc. I really like this Lara and her model is also very strong (as is AOD). Shame that the whole Amanda and Mommy storyline doesn’t do her justice but as I said, I am ranking Lara herself and not the rest
@@BartolisHideoutGaming The whole LAU trilogy has vastly different Lara's, it's actually funny. I definitely like Legend Lara but not so much in Anniversary as to me that's a bad remake of TR1. I really can't get past that
u can't even say that this (2013) is the youngest lara bcuz in tomb raider the last revelations we literally play as a child version of lara when she was barely in her teens, also the 2013 trilogy has none of the character traits of lara and the trilogy doesn't have anything to do with the source material it's literally just fan fiction made by square and crystal and she's not even rich in the garbage reboot and she doesn't have her signature dual custom pistols everything is a downgrade the best way to describe 2013 trilogy 2nd reboot that it's the disney sequel trilogy of tomb raider. i don't consider it tomb raider. yes, i also agree that she's a crybaby and always depending on her friends to bail her out of situations and she was the same in all three games with zero progression. i have burning hatred towards that trilogy bcuz it's nothing but square and crystal trying to Kathleen Kennedy the franchise bcuz it's now going through an identity crisis bcuz they changed so much that made lara croft lara croft to a franchise that had had nothing to do with. there's even rumors on another reboot and they're making lara croft gay and it's once again ignoring the established lore and canon that core made when they created this franchise. the survivor timeline itself is fan fiction it's only connection to tomb raider is that it bares the name of tomb raider, lara croft is not in that she's lara croft in name only. she's not grounded bcuz it's literally not her from personally traits to characteristic her motivates, her mentor everything has been stripped awa that she's not even recognizable. it already showed in comics tie in and novelizations tie ins that she has no interested on making new friends and dating. all she relies on is adventure for her work it's what drives her. TR chronicles is a direct sequel to Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation - the last revelations ending is why she was presumed dead bcuz she was buried inside of a tomb. u said that in TR chronicles is when she died no technically she was presumed dead and that's bcuz she went missing but her body was never discovered/found in the game description: Following the events of The Last Revelation, Lara Croft is presumed dead, buried under the collapsed Great Pyramid of Giza. At Lara's home of Croft Manor, three former friends and associates-Lara's butler Winston, the family priest Father Patrick Dunstan and Lara's history teacher Charles Kane-reminisce over some of Lara's early exploits following a memorial service. and at the end after Their stories completed, the three toast Lara.(Lara's butler Winston, the family priest Father Patrick Dunstan and Lara's history teacher Charles Kane) In parallel to these events, Von Croy digs through the rubble of the Great Pyramid in a desperate attempt to find her. He finally discovers Lara's backpack among the ruins of the Great Pyramid but no sign of her body: he declares "We've found her!", presuming that Lara is alive. which pick up on the next game i also disagree when u said the guardians of light is a spin off lara when she more like lore accurate that's true that's more true to the source material than the actual main games LOL LC&TTOO (lara croft & the temple of osiris) & LC&GOL (Lara croft & the guardian of light) and it was made by lara creator tobey gard the same with lara craft go, & etc also, angel of darkness lara was framed for murder of her mentor - Verner von Croy she didn't actually murder him bcuz it was someone else in that room. it even hinted that in the intro cutscene. the game was a experimental project that core made grounded lara not that 2013 fan fiction garbage trilogy AOD also but didn't get much time to finished bcuz eidos rushed the project so now we're let with literally a prototype game that's halfway game bcuz i guess they rushed it out bcuz they wanted to keep the hype around cradle of life which was coming out at the time. it even has the movie trailer in the game and promoted the movie on the back of the cover art. but when eidos rushed this game it also what killed core design tobey gard left the studio when they was making AOD. and lastly y'all disrespecting tomb raider by comparing it to uncharted tomb raider has existed since 1997, uncharted has only existed since 2007 and it copies mostly from Indiana jones raider of the lost arc story arcs and some of the characters as well with the only difference is that set in modern day drake is literally a carbon copy of indiana jones. he's clumsy like indy, he has an off and on relationship and ended up getting marries like Marion Ravenwood just like drake did with Elena Fisher. it so much that uncharted copies from that it's uninspired and the franchise is overrated. i also find it disrespectful that u keep bring up drake and lara when they're NOTHING ALIKE AT ALL.
Haha I can’t believe that I actually read your whole comment. You’re a passionate gamer, I like it 👍. Few things tho: 1 - if your going to take Lara of the Cambodia level of TR4 as a Main Character just because you control her for a bit, then you also have to consider the flashback Lara from Shadow as a main character and that makes her the youngest Lara of them all, not the one from TR4. 2 - I kinda agree with the rest of your opinion regarding the survivor trilogy but with a lot less hate and care to be honest! I kinda liked the games even tho 2013 is not Tomb Raider for me. 3 - The developers idea was to kill Lara in TR4 as they were sick of making TR games so yeah up until 2000 Lara did die in that Tomb, until Murti Schofield brought her back to life with a new story. 4 - Sadly, I still believe that at least Uncharted 2,3 & 4 are much better in everything (story, music, gameplay including exploration and platforming), than Underworld, 2013 and Rise! It is not a disrespect to Tomb Raider because 1st - Tomb Raider is a game and pretty sure games don’t get offended + the more opinions the better, no matter the feedback, and 2nd - I don’t even think I’m offending any fan at all, as this is my opinion and opinions are made to be different and respected. The world would be pretty boring if all opinions were the same, right? With that being said, I respect your opinion and appreciate you sharing it. Thanks for your comment 🙏👍
@@BartolisHideoutGaming my introduction to tomb raider is dated as far back to TR2 i collected games, movies, comics, novels, etc. ok to address ur response: 1 - TR 2013 reboot isn't even lara but let's imagine for a bit that she bares Lara's characteristic traits, personality, humor and etc. Lara from Shadow is like mid 20's so again she not the youngest of them all. in shadow she's supposed to be experienced at this point according to the timeline of that reboot (that nobody asked for) my hatred towards the game is bcuz square enix and crystal dynamics chose to ignore the source material canon and lore in a legacy IP. while in tomb raider the last revelations she's literally a child when u first start up the game and it serves as the tutorial of the game and playable flashbacks to theat game for her actual and real origins story. so again ur wrong, which brings me over to: 2 - in TR3 ending she was literally buried alive in a tomb there's even a cutscene that i can show in the game description to TR chronicles plot as i previously mention she was presumed dead despite the fact that they never found her body until at the end of the game where she was presumed dead and that's bcuz she went missing but her body was never discovered/found in the game description: Following the events of The Last Revelation, Lara Croft is presumed dead, buried under the collapsed Great Pyramid of Giza. He finally discovers Lara's backpack among the ruins of the Great Pyramid but no sign of her body: he declares "We've found her!", presuming that Lara is alive while Von Croy finally manages to reach the temple containing the entrance to the tomb of Set and finds no trace of Lara except her signature backpack. which pick up on the next game AOD; where she confronts her mentor Verner Von croy about leaving her behind at Great Pyramid of Giza and he was assassinated, and she was framed his murder - these aren't opinions these are facts! the games was direct sequels 3 - "until 2000 Lara did die in that Tomb, until Murti Schofield brought her back to life with a new story." again that's misinformation and according to fandom wiki and wiki - Despite the presumed death of Lara Croft in The Last Revelation, Core Design was told by Eidos to continue the series; while a new team worked on The Angel of Darkness for the PlayStation 2, a veteran team developed Chronicles based on concepts cut from The Last Revelation. where i already explain and it's also showed at the end of TR chronicles that she was found at the end of the game and AOD following the events after TR4. again i was only discussing the story aspect not from what the creators was doing also this was the time where lara croft's creator - toby gard was on his way out and was already gone when core was doing AOD but if we go to what the studio was doing at the time outside of the story aspect. what u was discussing is more of behind the scenes aspect, but i wasn't so to go in depth - "The team had attempted killing off Lara in The Last Revelation, but Eidos insisted that the series continue. Core Design split into two teams; one new team worked on Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness for PlayStation 2, while a veteran team developed Chronicles. Most of the team from The Last Revelation returned to create Chronicles. Designer Andy Sandham, speaking in a 2016 retrospective on the Core Design Tomb Raider games, said that the staff created the game to earn a living rather than having any passion for it, deeming it as the worst title in his career. In a different interview, he called it the hardest Tomb Raider title he worked on. Reportedly the lead animator had fun creating new death animations for Lara, as the team as a whole disliked the project. The full-motion video cutscenes were created by ExMachina, a French studio which had previously worked on a number of video game projects including Final Fantasy IX and Dark Earth, in addition to a series of SEAT commercials featuring Lara." - wiki so yes ur right but i wasn't talking about that i was only covering the plot within tr chronicles and TR the last revelations and again these were at the time where lara's creator Toby Gard was neither already gone or half way out In 1997 around TR 2; Gard formed the company Confounding Factor along with co-developer Paul Douglas, who had worked with Gard on Tomb Raider. Galleon was announced soon after. by the 2000's After the closure of Confounding Factor, Gard was re-hired by Eidos (then publisher and copyright holder of the Tomb Raider series) to work with Crystal Dynamics on a reboot of the Tomb Raider franchise, beginning with Tomb Raider: Legend. While initially hired as a creative consultant, his work became "hands on" during the production and eventually included Lara's visual redesign, overseeing character design and creation, co-writing the story, designing and implementing parts of the character movement system, and directing the cinematics. The next game in the series, Tomb Raider: Anniversary, was a re-imagining of the original Tomb Raider. It was co-developed by Crystal Dynamics and Buzz Monkey Software. Gard's role on Anniversary was limited to "story consultant", while also adding his voice to the audio commentary included in the game. For Tomb Raider: Underworld, Gard's work included co-writing the story, directing the cinematics, voice direction, motion capture direction (along with camera setup and managing the animators and lighters), and directing the European TV advert for the game. Gard and Eric Lindstrom received a nomination for "Best Writing in a Video Game" by the Writers Guild of America for their work on Underworld. so, to recap (so yes u was right, but also wrong bcuz she didn't die within TR chronicles and TR the last revelations so again I'm not talking about the game development i was talking about what happened within the game plot itself.) 4 - also " It is not a disrespect to Tomb Raider because 1st - Tomb Raider is a game and pretty sure games don’t get offended" wow i can't believe u said that maybe misunderstood me as of why i was saying it's disrespectful. im saying it's disrespectful by comparing it to uncharted which is a lesser game and not even original, that build it's success by taking ideas from other franchises for uncharted to exist as such things that i pointed out. by comparing it to tomb raider it devalues the franchise and takes away from the legacy of tomb raider/Lara croft and to this franchise as whole bcuz u come across like uncharted and tomb raider are equals when they are not. so yeah, no crap games has no feelings 😂 why would u even say that? lmfao. yeah, i'm pretty sure alot of OG TR fans has all agreed that 2013 isn't tomb raider at all, and it's a reboot that nobody ask for we just wanted a better game that respects the source material and respects the legacy of core design with a game that followed the established lore and canon that brings a new experience. I'm apart of that crowd just more vocal about it, since i grew up with this franchise and collected just about everything tomb raider related so i'm kinda knowledgeable when it comes to this. Underworld is set in an alternate timeline that's apart of the legends timeline it had the essence of tomb raider it's just that the material was weak, i already spoke about 2013 trilogy n how it has nothing to do with the established lore, canon and source material and how it's not tomb raider. "as this is my opinion and opinions are made to be different and respected." and nobody has ever dispute that so i'm confused on why this was even said, also uncharted gameplay from 1-3 are dogshit the the only thing that kept it alive for interest were; the story, the music however is irrelevant and it's not anything new but it set the tone again it's what's expected not anything worth praised. the gameplay was never uncharted's strong suit and the platforming was passable again not worthy of anything of praise. also, the puzzles were jarring as well.
@@BartolisHideoutGaming my bad i have to correct myself lara was 16 in tomb raider the last revelations and lara in 2013 game is 21-year-old so yeah she would be in her mid 20's by shadow of tomb raider so my point was reboot lara was not the youngest
Alright, i fused all 13 3D renditions of Lara's face, plus Alicia and Angelina for some cinematic value. I wish i could post the end result in the comments.
......... I just put up a comment with 3 links to 3 images regarding my process of creating the perfect "real" Lara...... Where is it? If deleted because of virus suspicion, can't they at least do a virus check before just deleting any and all non-malicious links? My caveman brain doesn't even know how to code, let alone develop viruses.
The remakes ruined who Lara truly is. It basically became uncharted and survival... She also lost her witty personality and acrobatics... Not cool. They could've done a game including who she is with current era gameplay and proper story
CORE Lara Croft is the real Lara Croft. Legend trilogy Lara is good despite changes to her backstory. 2013 reboot onwards is NOT Lara Croft and NOT Tomb Raider!
Lara's dual pistols and snarky personality is what makes her iconic, I understand them censoring her sexiness because PC culture but they made the new one so boring
I really liked the 2013 version of lora croft, which of course depicted a more realistic and young version, a person who has never killed before and was the start of her story so far. Plus it was my first romb raider game i got which i love to this day
I've been playing since the first one on launch in '96, and I still think Rise is my favorite. I do get people wanted her to be more witty and sarcastic in Rise/Shadow, but I just feel her personally is more well-rounded and better written in Rise even if its not the best it could have been. Here's hoping the next trilogy will have her resemble the overconfident, snarky Lara of years past.
then u clearly have zero understand of lara as a character which i highly doubt u even played any of the original tomb raider series and the entire 2013 trilogy isn't "well-rounded and better written" bcuz she's the same throughout all 3 games.
You didn't understand that Lara Croft from Tomb Raider (2013) is the very start of Lara Croft as an adventurer-explorer, Tomb Raider (2013) is the first part of the Tomb Raider reboot trilogy by Cristal Dynamics, and If you did not understand that those three parts (Tomb Raider (2013), Rise Of The Tomb Raider and Shadow Of The Tomb Raider) is a portrait of the evolution of the character, then you didn't understand the whole thing
lol. I did understand and appreciate tou they tried to do but I also understand that there are levels to demonstrate that growth in the game and Crystal’s storytelling and narrative choices are poor which makes Lara’s characterisation also poor! I’m not sure you understand but I’ll give you an example to try and explain to you in a simpler way: Goal: express Lara’s feelings and evolution throughout the games: Crystal: Lara kills a person and she cries and feels traumatised - 1m later she is killing dozens of people with no mercy like she is doing that for years! Serial killer style GREAT EVOLUTION! 👍
@@BartolisHideoutGaming Thank you for your answer but in Crystal Dynamics reboot trilogy, it was about survival, she had to kill to avoid herself to be killed... But if you want, you can play differently : it's your choice to make Lara killing or not... Of course, if you don't choose to make her killing her ennemies, she'll die and your game experience might be much shorter, but that's your choice ! Maybe you actually did... And that's why you you don't understand a lot about those games... However, you play the way you want... It's like in life ! If a person lives what Lara Croft lived, s-he would be forced to kill because her/his own life is at stake... That's a reflex... It's called "survival instinct" Every living being have one (humans like animals, every living beings have one !) If you played the Tomb Raider reboot trilogy by Crystal Dynamics, then you know that the first goal of Lara Croft was to be stealthy and to only killed to survive... And that is why Tomb Raider (2013) ends by those words "A survival is born" Comparing her to serial killer is very displaced... I know you tried to make humour but your humour actually does not help to understand your approach... And yet the comparison is really unwelcome because unfortunately, confusing the victims as their executionners too much people do it and too often Serial killers kill not because they're forced to but because they enjoy it ! Be honest : Did Lara Croft already killed "by pleasure" in those three games ? No, she didn't. She only killed because she had no other option. Everybody in her situation would have done the same So, my conclusion to my comment is that I am sorry to say that but your analyzis is wrong and the comparison you used was, at best, completely irrelevant
@@elodie2404 mate I love the survivor trilogy and I respect your opinion but if you say that Lara’s characterisation and her whole story in these games are well redefined than good for you. Maybe go play other games like TLOU and even fetching Uncharted and compare each games character progressions, then talk to me to see if you can see the difference.
@@BartolisHideoutGaming Listen, do you create video games yourself ? I doubt you do, because you wouldn't have time to waste on UA-cam, so here is my advice : Create your own video game and we'll see how you do, it's very easy to criticize when your hardest part of the work was clicking the Paypal button... Start to do a video game, and not only a video game, but video game as good on any level as the Tomb Raider trilogy reboot (in the graphics, in script, everything)... Do it, we're watching you... Enough with the lesson givers ! Let's see what you're capable of! Show us ! Impress us ! Come on !

You clearly don’t see my videos so you don’t know but I am often criticised for being a Crystal Dynamics fanboy or for being on Crystal’s payroll because I often defend what they do, when there’s so many other fans that talk sh*t about stuff they don’t know just because it’s cool to hit on CD. So man, if you think the game is perfect, good for you. I loved these games but they are not perfect thus I am talking about what I believe should be improved in the next game. If you don’t agree then great. You’re always welcome to ignore my videos. Hope you have a great life and enjoy the next game. Bye 👍
In the end, of course it's Lara Croft from the classic games . These versions of Lara Croft sets the mark for me. That fact will never change.
I fully agree with you!! Legend Lara is very close to how Lara should be! 🥰
even though I don't like the family melodrama, I do love legend Lara. She was super sassy, witty, clever and a badass. By far, the most entertaining version of the character. I wish the game was longer and less linear tought ;/
Love this description and Legend Lara should have been the standard going forward with the other games after that trilogy.
Angelina Jolie's Lara croft is literally lore accurate of core design's lara croft. it's the best live action lara croft that we had on the big screen. i wish jolie would come back and provide voice over for Lara in a animated tomb raider series.
she didn't look grumpy, Lara always had a certain type of face.
@@Jeymez They said she was grumpy. Meaning, her demeanor - not her face. Btw your theory is disproven by this video alone. Lara literally has a different face in each game. Did you even watch the video? Or did you just go straight to comments to showcase your lack in intellect?
@@escape2064 of course i watched, but Lara always had that face, atleast classic Lara. so it's not so much her demeanor,
she looks like she's grumpy. yes all Lara's had different faces, but you have to separate Legends Lara and the reboot Lara from classic Lara.
I just like Lara Croft. Doesn’t mater if it’s classic, modern, or whatever. She’s just really cool in my book.
Never let bro rate again
I think Angelina Jolie depicted the bold, badass, sensual attitude of ol' good Lara to perfection. The 'newer' movie and the 1st modern reboot game's Laras are too naive and spoiled-teenager like. I do like the last two games and its Lara, a more mature and stronger version of the reboot, but she's still a completely different character. Lara Croft shouldn't be naive.
You are right!! Angelina was a great Lara. Always seen her as the perfect Lara to be honest 👏
Tomb raider 3 will always hold top place in my heart followed by tomb raider 2 and the last revelation
I don't think Lara was insecure in Shadow at all! She was definetly willing to do whatever it takes to get what she wanted in that game, she even became a ruthless killer when she thought her friend was dead. I hardly disagree on this one.
The ''Gothic Lara'' is probably my favorite :D
The first Lara was the best. “I only play for sport” That’s all you need to know about her.
Yeah she was the best but that’s definitely not all you need to know from her! 😂 video games these day need a good story
Great video man, I really enjoyed watching it! This must not have been an easy ranking to do! 😅 I agree with both your lowest (especially Chronicles Lara) and highest rankings here. The middle versions of Lara are less clear for me to rank.
Great job! 😎
Hey, thanks very much! Yea the middle it’s not that important 😅 I liked all the games but yeah not every Lara was that good. Thanks for watching 🙏
I must admit, TR2 Lara Croft has historically been my absolute favorite as well!! 😄 Although TR Chronicles Lara beats ANY Survivor era TR game Lara ANY DAY. 😝
The only games I consider canon are the ones that fit this timeline of mine (hope the time set in between games is realistic enough for her development):
-Tomb Raider (2013);
-Anniversary (I simply pretend it's set in 2017);
-Legend (2021);
-Underworld (2021);
-Tomb Raider 3 (2022);
-Revelation (2023);
-Chronicles (2023);
-Angel of Darkness (2024).
What about you ? How do you build your timeline ?
Woa, this is actually pretty realistic. I like this.
Only problem I see is the lack of Tomb Raider II for one very specific reason: Lara has the Dagger of Xian in the Croft Manor trophy room in TRIII.
In terms of character design, my favorite version of Lara is from Underworld. Second is Rise, third is Anniversary (though her face gives off a young mom vibe here). In terms of personality, I just ignore the trilogy and go back to the original. Original knows best.
👍👍
As for my favorite iteration of Lara, it's hard to narrow it down. I will say that I personally feel that AOD Lara Croft is overrated because I felt she was a bully at times. I disapproved of her threatening the civilians of Paris she interacted with. It felt like it was an unnecessary provocation. Especially, since they didn't say anything that should make Lara worry. I like Lara's cool, sassy, smart, respectful, and confident personality as displayed in the Classic and Legend timelines. No whiney or bullying Lara.
100% agree with that! I know I’m bias but Classic Lara will always be my favourite, specially TR2’s version 😁
AOD Lara is a bad ass!
Well she is British and that are just arrogant french civilians. There whole attitude is arrogant. So no problem with Lara treating them as what the are, french.
They are All Lara Croft. I have such love and respect for what each of them bring no matter what version of her I’m playing, watching or reading! ❤️👏🏻❤️👏🏻❤️
Nice!! We need more people like you in our community ❤️
TombRaider 2 was the first I ever played, still would love to play it again, I personally love seeing young Lara and her development, the new game should be awesome
That’s the spirit! 😁let’s hope we have news on the new game soon 🤞
I don't really think one can seperate different versions of Lara by game. For example, TR2013, Rise of the TR and Shadow of TR are all part of one story and one character - so I can't seperate TR2013 version from the Rise of TR. So, your whole methodology is a bit inconsistent. With that being said, I think there are 4 major different versions of Lara:
Steve 👍
Hey Steve, thanks. Yes TR Legend had the best outfits for sure 😁
Why do you say Lara dies at the end of The Last Revelation? The story continous in Angel of Darkness.
AOD LARA>
Awesome video good Job I in joy it thanks for the video I Love it have a good day and Night ❤👌👍
Haha there’s so much we can say about Chronicles Lara 😅 thanks for watching 🙏
For me, respecting of course ALL the opinions, all the versions that LARA has are BEAUTIFUL and FASCINATING.
I'm not only referring to the quality of the GRAPHICS that it has been able to have since its INCEPTION, but mainly to her IMMORTAL ESSENCE and MEANING. Which is, ultimately, the SOURCES from which her REASON for existing emanates.
Needless to say, her LEGACY and VALUES will remain INTACT for as long as the world EXISTS.
LARA CROFT deserves it in HER OWN RIGHT.
Absolutely!!! Well said 👌
Personaly, I prefer Lara's version from Legend and SOfTB.
Lara was a bad ass women even with very few lines and your imagination would just flow in regards to her
@@BartolisHideoutGaming
Well yes, but for me she is un-sympatheic in firts 5 games.
Oh, I really likes Angelina's Lara. This version was a perfect mix between Old Lara and Legend Lara. A badass who love danger and adventure, but with a big heart and capable to do the right thing.
I'm sorely missing the TR3 & TRLA Lara here.. 🙂
I actually forgot about TR3 but it would be up there in the top 5 I believe 😅
@@BartolisHideoutGaming You forgot the best Tomb Raider? How dare you! 😁
Why isn't Tomb Raider III on the list?
Completely forgot! 😅🤣
Right now I'm at the crypt:
-The first set of flashbacks in that section are the first parts of "Anniversary" (Qualopec's tomb and Pierre's first encounter), as Lara reflects on her first encounter with Natla's abominations and how her life and businesses have no line in between like Pierre said there should be;
-The second set is gonna be after Lara recovers the second glove, remembering her search for the Excalibur's fragments after confirming Amanda's survival (the flashbacks are about the search for power and knowledge and what it can do to anyone and anything), ending just before Ruthland's death.
I'd say Last Revelation is my favorite one.
Rise of the tomb raider is my favorite, but i really like the sassy, confident classic lara from the classic,
if the developer want to make another lara croft game, they should add that sassy, badass, smart, confident. oh and they should make lara beautiful again
i thought you were gonna pull the rug out from under us with a "number 0" which would be TR3. instead it was missing entirely. how could you :(
Sorry, I actually forgot about it 🤦♂️ but she is very similar to TR2, so I would say she’s there on my top 5.
shadow gave her more depth and if you played any of the challenge tombs you’d see how she is… she was more emotional rather than some stoic one dimensional character
thank you for the video, Bartoli! I thoroughly enjoyed it! and i guessed right that you would choose the tomb raider II lara as your fave :D
Hey, thanks for watching!! You know me already 😜 glad you enjoyed it 🙏
“The one with the T-Rex”
Do you have any idea how little that narrows it down?
Haha I was trying to be funny just that BUTTTTT I believe that I also said “the very first one” so I kinda narrowed it down pretty nicely 😅
"Do you have any idea how little that narrows it down?" TR1, TR 2, TR 3 & TR anniversary - which is a TR1 remake. It's not little at all.
@@Oldschool1943 my god, have people not seen the meme? Clearly was a joke.
TR Anniversary is my favourite, although if it would be canon my No. 1 would be the TR 2 Nicobass Fan Remake Lara !
Yesssss Nicobass Model is awesome!! Best looking Lara for sure
Legend Lara is my favorite. Wish we could get that confident Lara again. I was really disappointed that at the end of the new trilogy she still wasnt the Lara we wanted.
Let’s hope for a better Lara in the next Mainline game 🙏
I love you Lara Croft ❤😊
Haha me too 😁
Best one for me is Angelina Jolie. Even mods goes so well with the reboots. Pro treasure seekers to me is like a young woman beautiful and fit but not a fighter and that’s where Lara Croft comes in. The classic games I mean.
Shadow of the tomb raider lara makes more sense than the other laras because her reactions and personality are more realistic
@@MaRdi-h4h yes, I can understand that, and that personality is a big part of the reboot Lara but most fans are ready to return to the classic Lara personality that I’m sure you’re going to love and admire 🙏
In Tomb Raider 2, she says the least in the whole series.m the cutscenes might be the shortest too. A strange choice for number 1.
I like all Lara version in TR2 is best ❤
Absolutely 🤍
My number one is TR1 1996 ^^ but I also love TR2 and Legend
I mean, why is it Tomb raider Chronicles Lara Croft in such a low range? It deserves to be higher
@@arseniica as I said, that version of Lara Croft is not even Lara Croft herself! It is a narrated version of Lara, it is someone else’s memories of her and memories over time are not always 100% accurate as what is stored in your brain can change over time, so yeah, that’s why!
Incredible video thank you sir, But guys he meant Lara Croft herself, So this's not involving the game itself.
Thank you! Indeed, I am ranking Lara herself. I've already ranked all the games on a previous video! :)
It’s ok. I’m glad you like it! 👏
i don't feel like ranking them all but here is my top 3,,, Number one is TR2 Lara, Number two is The last Revelation Lara and Number 3 Is Tomb Raider 1 or Anniversary Lara
Where's Tomb Raider 3?!
Forgot about it 🤦♂️ but she’s very similar to TR2, just a little under developed as TR2 was the game that build Lara’s personality so I would put TR3 up there on the top 5 below TR2
This channel does a wonderful job keeping the love for classic Tomb Raider alive. 😊 Subscribe now, folks!!
Thank you, I appreciate the words 🙏
I think I would put Underworld Lara higher...
I find the survivor version of Lara to be the epitome of the pandering modern idea of a female protagonist
Strong for the sake of being strong and unnecessarily gritty
There's no way you can tell me with a straight face that the first 2013 reboot game makes Lara "strong for the sake of strong". She has a great, compelling character arc going from a overly scared, introverted college girl to a tougher person. Its done in a way that its not "pandering" for the "modern audiences". Don't know what the hell you're talking about.
Wait where’s Tomb Raider 3’s Lara??!
I forgot! Haha
anniversary and underworld lara is way better than legend lara,, ,in anniversary she works alone and is an actual tomb raider unlike in legends,, she has a sassy personality in anniversary but just enough of it,, its not overly done like in legends,, also why is legends considered a tomb raider game or even a really good tr game is beyond me because its really just a very short action game with a mix of Movie and classic lara,,, if 2013 its not considered a very good tomb raider game because it was action heavy and didn't have enough tombs,,, legends should not be considered one either because they are both on the same category,,, the only difference is that legends has a lara that looks and acts like' ''Classic'' and if that is all she has how can she be better than underworld and especially Anniversary Lara, ?
I don’t agree but respect your opinion 👍 it’s good to have different opinions around 😁
@@BartolisHideoutGaming i'm very curious and would love to hear what you disagree on. because i didn't say anything that wasn't true
Well said, I agree! Let’s hope the developers know this… 😅
@@BartolisHideoutGaming At this point ( despite the recent reboot making top sales and IGN scores compared to the orignal games) with all the complaining on social media about all these different versions of her and also how most fans talk more about classic Lara more than they do about the recent Lara on social media, If they are a real video game company that makes video games for comsumers and not for themselves they must have listened already but time will tell once all of these new projects that has already been in the works for the franchise are released in the near future.
@@DJCroft fingers crossed 🤞
@@DJCroft I also believe that they’ll do a good job and yes, positivity is all we need 👏

Rise of the tomb raider and shadow for me 🤩 i have dont played the other games
You should play the other games if you can. They are all great! 👍
The fact that you hold Underworld Lara in higher regard than Angel of Darkness is concerning. I honestly disagree with your list

You got a very valid point there but I just feel that in TR Chronicles, she wasn't fleshed out as she should...
Have you ever played those games or are you going off what you've seen on videos? Legend ans Underworld are true to the classics.
@@Eman-wj8gq I agree, specially regarding Legend 😁
@@BartolisHideoutGaming that’s totally fair! I wonder how the new game will fair against this list 🤭
@@Eman-wj8gq bcuz it's the most easiest ones in the entire game series.
u can't even say that this (2013) is the youngest lara bcuz in tomb raider the last revelations we literally play as a child version of lara when she was barely in her teens, also the 2013 trilogy has none of the character traits of lara and the trilogy doesn't have anything to do with the source material it's literally just fan fiction made by square and crystal and she's not even rich in the garbage reboot and she doesn't have her signature dual custom pistols everything is a downgrade the best way to describe 2013 trilogy 2nd reboot that it's the disney sequel trilogy of tomb raider. i don't consider it tomb raider. yes, i also agree that she's a crybaby and always depending on her friends to bail her out of situations and she was the same in all three games with zero progression. i have burning hatred towards that trilogy bcuz it's nothing but square and crystal trying to Kathleen Kennedy the franchise bcuz it's now going through an identity crisis bcuz they changed so much that made lara croft lara croft to a franchise that had had nothing to do with. there's even rumors on another reboot and they're making lara croft gay and it's once again ignoring the established lore and canon that core made when they created this franchise.
the survivor timeline itself is fan fiction it's only connection to tomb raider is that it bares the name of tomb raider, lara croft is not in that she's lara croft in name only. she's not grounded bcuz it's literally not her from personally traits to characteristic her motivates, her mentor everything has been stripped awa that she's not even recognizable.
it already showed in comics tie in and novelizations tie ins that she has no interested on making new friends and dating. all she relies on is adventure for her work it's what drives her.
He finally discovers Lara's backpack among the ruins of the Great Pyramid but no sign of her body: he declares "We've found her!", presuming that Lara is alive. which pick up on the next game
i also disagree when u said the guardians of light is a spin off lara when she more like lore accurate that's true that's more true to the source material than the actual main games LOL LC&TTOO (lara croft & the temple of osiris) & LC&GOL (Lara croft & the guardian of light) and it was made by lara creator tobey gard the same with lara craft go, & etc
also, angel of darkness lara was framed for murder of her mentor - Verner von Croy she didn't actually murder him bcuz it was someone else in that room. it even hinted that in the intro cutscene. the game was a experimental project that core made grounded lara not that 2013 fan fiction garbage trilogy AOD also but didn't get much time to finished bcuz eidos rushed the project so now we're let with literally a prototype game that's halfway game bcuz i guess they rushed it out bcuz they wanted to keep the hype around cradle of life which was coming out at the time. it even has the movie trailer in the game and promoted the movie on the back of the cover art. but when eidos rushed this game it also what killed core design tobey gard left the studio when they was making AOD.
and lastly y'all disrespecting tomb raider by comparing it to uncharted tomb raider has existed since 1997, uncharted has only existed since 2007 and it copies mostly from Indiana jones raider of the lost arc story arcs and some of the characters as well with the only difference is that set in modern day drake is literally a carbon copy of indiana jones. he's clumsy like indy, he has an off and on relationship and ended up getting marries like Marion Ravenwood just like drake did with Elena Fisher. it so much that uncharted copies from that it's uninspired and the franchise is overrated. i also find it disrespectful that u keep bring up drake and lara when they're NOTHING ALIKE AT ALL.
Haha I can’t believe that I actually read your whole comment. You’re a passionate gamer, I like it 👍. Few things tho:
1 - if your going to take Lara of the Cambodia level of TR4 as a Main Character just because you control her for a bit, then you also have to consider the flashback Lara from Shadow as a main character and that makes her the youngest Lara of them all, not the one from TR4.
@@BartolisHideoutGaming my introduction to tomb raider is dated as far back to TR2 i collected games, movies, comics, novels, etc. ok to address ur response:
1 - TR 2013 reboot isn't even lara but let's imagine for a bit that she bares Lara's characteristic traits, personality, humor and etc. Lara from Shadow is like mid 20's so again she not the youngest of them all. in shadow she's supposed to be experienced at this point according to the timeline of that reboot (that nobody asked for) my hatred towards the game is bcuz square enix and crystal dynamics chose to ignore the source material canon and lore in a legacy IP. while in tomb raider the last revelations she's literally a child when u first start up the game and it serves as the tutorial of the game and playable flashbacks to theat game for her actual and real origins story.
so again ur wrong, which brings me over to:
2 - in TR3 ending she was literally buried alive in a tomb there's even a cutscene that i can show in the game description to TR chronicles plot as i previously mention she was presumed dead despite the fact that they never found her body until at the end of the game where she was presumed dead and that's bcuz she went missing but her body was never discovered/found in the game description: Following the events of The Last Revelation, Lara Croft is presumed dead, buried under the collapsed Great Pyramid of Giza. He finally discovers Lara's backpack among the ruins of the Great Pyramid but no sign of her body: he declares "We've found her!", presuming that Lara is alive while Von Croy finally manages to reach the temple containing the entrance to the tomb of Set and finds no trace of Lara except her signature backpack. which pick up on the next game AOD; where she confronts her mentor Verner Von croy about leaving her behind at Great Pyramid of Giza and he was assassinated, and she was framed his murder - these aren't opinions these are facts!
the games was direct sequels
3 - "until 2000 Lara did die in that Tomb, until Murti Schofield brought her back to life with a new story." again that's misinformation and according to fandom wiki and wiki - Despite the presumed death of Lara Croft in The Last Revelation, Core Design was told by Eidos to continue the series; while a new team worked on The Angel of Darkness for the PlayStation 2, a veteran team developed Chronicles based on concepts cut from The Last Revelation. where i already explain and it's also showed at the end of TR chronicles that she was found at the end of the game and AOD following the events after TR4. again i was only discussing the story aspect not from what the creators was doing also this was the time where lara croft's creator - toby gard was on his way out and was already gone when core was doing AOD but if we go to what the studio was doing at the time outside of the story aspect.
what u was discussing is more of behind the scenes aspect, but i wasn't so to go in depth - "The team had attempted killing off Lara in The Last Revelation, but Eidos insisted that the series continue.
Gard and Eric Lindstrom received a nomination for "Best Writing in a Video Game" by the Writers Guild of America for their work on Underworld.
so, to recap (so yes u was right, but also wrong bcuz she didn't die within TR chronicles and TR the last revelations so again I'm not talking about the game development i was talking about what happened within the game plot itself.)
4 - also " It is not a disrespect to Tomb Raider because 1st - Tomb Raider is a game and pretty sure games don’t get offended" wow i can't believe u said that maybe misunderstood me as of why i was saying it's disrespectful. im saying it's disrespectful by comparing it to uncharted which is a lesser game and not even original, that build it's success by taking ideas from other franchises for uncharted to exist as such things that i pointed out. by comparing it to tomb raider it devalues the franchise and takes away from the legacy of tomb raider/Lara croft and to this franchise as whole bcuz u come across like uncharted and tomb raider are equals when they are not.
so yeah, no crap games has no feelings 😂 why would u even say that? lmfao.
yeah, i'm pretty sure alot of OG TR fans has all agreed that 2013 isn't tomb raider at all, and it's a reboot that nobody ask for we just wanted a better game that respects the source material and respects the legacy of core design with a game that followed the established lore and canon that brings a new experience.

Bem dito 👏

2013 Lara is still PEAK reboot Lara writing.
fr give me the pistols in new game
👍👍
Is it just me, or is Lara just Spider-Man and Batman combined?
Aha!
I’m not sure you understand but I’ll give you an example to try and explain to you in a simpler way:
Goal: express Lara’s feelings and evolution throughout the games:
Crystal: Lara kills a person and she cries and feels traumatised - 1m later she is killing dozens of people with no mercy like she is doing that for years! Serial killer style
GREAT EVOLUTION!
It's called "survival instinct"
Every living being have one (humans like animals, every living beings have one !)
If you played the Tomb Raider reboot trilogy by Crystal Dynamics, then you know that the first goal of Lara Croft was to be stealthy and to only killed to survive... And that is why Tomb Raider (2013) ends by those words "A survival is born"
Comparing her to serial killer is very displaced... I know you tried to make humour but your humour actually does not help to understand your approach... And yet the comparison is really unwelcome because unfortunately, confusing the victims as their executionners too much people do it and too often
Serial killers kill not because they're forced to but because they enjoy it !
Be honest : Did Lara Croft already killed "by pleasure" in those three games ?
No, she didn't. She only killed because she had no other option. Everybody in her situation would have done the same
So, my conclusion to my comment is that I am sorry to say that but your analyzis is wrong and the comparison you used was, at best, completely irrelevant
Come on !
@@ÉlodieFalcão “listen” we as consumers have the right/duty to provide constructive criticism! It is the only way the developers know in what they have to work on and get better at! Bye 👍
