Impressive!! Well done WTW!!
Sure you have known but they (youtube) are unsubbing folks I got unsubbed

Velocity is king , a 55 grain bullet travelling at 3250 will penetrate ar500 steel
You definitely have my subscription. Keep up the good work 🙏🇺🇸
That's the only kind of 'Green New Deal' that I want anything to do with...😁

Green is my favorite color!!!

How is it the only thing you shoot I thought greentips were outlawed
@I Am Sentinel Obama bin laden
I'm so glad I bought 4000 rounds of milsurp GT a couple years ago. I still have them lovingly stored in ammo cans for a special occasion.
Ooh awesome!
@@WHOTEEWHO :D WTW!!!
I bought ALOT of M855 back in Early 2000's for dirt cheap. I also took advantage of all the cheap 5.45x39mm, 7.62x39mm, 7.62x51mm and 7.62x25mm. Then in 2007 I grabbed a bunch of 7.92x57mm made in former Yugoslavia. I miss all the dirt cheap surplus ammo. I loved buying 50BMG in 100rnd belts 4-FMJ 1-Tracer for $89.99 in a can. In my area it goes for $3.50-$5 a round for old FMJ
@The Weapon Collection That's the stuff.
lol
The green tips are steel core. They punch holes without too much expansion.
💪💪💥💥💥
They are lead core with a steep tip...
@Marino I smelled salmon...
@@BuffRANGE yep
Green tips, made primarily of lead and fitted with a steel "penetrator" head, do not qualify as armor-piercing under the statute, gun rights advocates said. But the question has never been resolved legally because the ATF granted green tips an exemption in 1986 based on their widespread use in shooting sports.
Is the round Obama tried to ban as it was an armor piercing round but it's not
@@nuyabiss2023 - the ATF says, "Hold my beer!" 🍺
Green tips arent as good FOR LONGER ranges, however 300 yards and UNDER THEY work very well.
👍👍
I’ve shot things dead past 400 yards no problem and Marines suck jk I was with 2MARDIV
I have seen wounded from green tip . Went through Target like a needle. You better hit bone or a vital. This is why short barrel AR loose so much effective energy AR rifle the marines use 20 inch barrel were much more effective at distance. The longer barrel give longer powder burn and increase the bullet speed. I personally use 55 grain soft point for anti bad guy round.. seen lot of white tail dropped at 100 yards or less. There’s a 64 grain soft point on the market. I would think it works well. These rounds are 223.
@@rockjohnson2879 we need to convince him to get a 20in barrel versus the 16 to see if you get any more penetration and do it at like 350 yards
In case people don't know the green tip round has a steel core penetrator.
Well, I also thought that the Green Tips weren't worth the extra cost. Guess we were wrong Adam. If there is an actual threat that may be hunkered down, the Green Tips are worth having. Obviously you don't need them for regular shoot-around but man I guess they can save you in the right situation. This was really a great test and it showed some interesting results. As usual this was a really fun video BUT it also was a very informative video. Thanks brother, well done. God Bless.
Thanks for watching!
I’m curious on the stopping power though??
@@Ok-uc5in
Yeah, I don't know and I haven't watched this video in at least a year but I would think these results would add at least a little bit to the stopping power. I think stopping power is a little overrated unless it is in regards to a hunting round. Some people do hunt with 5.56 but that's not the caliber I usually think about when I think about hunting rounds. The stopping power would be interesting though.
Just make sure to zero your rifle for the ammo your gonna be “using”. 55’s shoot different
XM193 will penetrate level 3 steel armor whereas XM855 won't, but as we can see here the reverse is true when we're talking about composite armor. It may be good to mix ammo in some of your mags to cover all bases.
Not that it takes anything away from your comparison of green tip versus non green tip, but that armor is rated to stop the more potent M80 rounds which is 7.62x51 not just the AK round as you mentioned. Nice vid, keep em coming!
Green tip sucks, the only thing it can do well is barrier penetration, everything else it sucks
A brass hand loaded 50 bmg. Make big hole, go far, smash many bricks, and can have practical accuracy.
If I ever hunt concrete blocks at night I will just use regular 180 grain 308 soft point bullets and they should kill them feral concrete blocks just as good as they do them feral hogs LOL
👍👍
It’s pretty rare you’ll have real world use for green tips
When the gun confiscators come to your house, they will come in cars they will try and hide behind.
Barriers
I agree, nope.different strokes for different times but not for me. I'm a hollow point or hydroshock guy
Hollow points are good until you need to put a couple rounds through a wall or car door to incapacitate a hoodlum. I have both for different situations.
I’ve seen plenty of videos where level III armor stopped M855. But the M193 blew right through. I’ll keep my M193
The M193 is not what blew through the armor it was the M855
@@427SuperSnake1 it tore right through that armor!!! This is one of the reasons why I keep a lot of stuff besides the 193 I have a lot of green tips and over 250 rounds of polymer tips and soft points and hunting style rounds
Really appreciate this one. I have 250 green tips and have never fired one.
💥💥💥👍👍
I have an FN 20" upper with an ACOG ACSS scope. I use green tips out to 800yds. They seem pretty accurate to me.
I don’t want to be shot with either one. That’s why I’m staying at home and being a good boy. I don’t go to downtown Seattle or Portland anymore. Stay well and safe Who Tee Who, we love you and your videos.
🙏🙏🙏 me neither!
M855 were worth it when I was paying 275 bucks per 1000 but not now 😳 they can kiss my butt 800 bucks for 1000.
😳😳😳
@I Am Sentinel its 420rds on stripper clips, also has a mag pouch
@I Am Sentinel I feel for you. If you get a sealed can, the boxes come in the pouch with a shoulder strap. On the pouch there's a white string that you can pull out to turn the pouch into a mag holder. I believe it also comes with two safety pins and a loading guide. I miss Walmarts old ammo selection. I would buy a min of 5 box's a week knowing that the price would go up and up, but never thought that it would go as high or the scarcity that we see
My favorite round is the 77 Grain OTM in my AR’s. But when you need to really punch through something it’s hard to beat the readily available green tip. And I always keep at least 1k rounds of it on hand.
Well I didn’t get notified sorry I missed the chat brother
Get on the deers yet???
These have a purpose and they are great at what they are good at what they do. They are designed to penetrate hard targets and they will do that to a higher degree than just ball ammo. On soft targets they are very devastating these will go through some soft armored vests. I have a 50-50 mix of this and ball ammo in my stock pile.
👍👍
Thanks! But good luck finding any green tip for sale.
My store had some for me to make this video 🤷♂️
@@WHOTEEWHO you're in a fortunate position my friend, keep up the good work!
In 1961, a marksmanship testing compared the AR-15 and M-14; 43 % of ArmaLite AR-15 shooters achieved Expert, while only 22 % of M-14 rifle shooters did. Le May ordered 80,000 rifles. In July 1962, operational testing ended with a recommendation for adoption of the ArmaLite AR-15 rifle chambered in .223 Remington. In September 1963, the .223 Remington cartridge was officially accepted and named "Cartridge, 5.56 mm ball, M193". The following year, the ArmaLite AR-15 was adopted by the United States Army as the M16 rifle and it would later become the standard U.S. military rifle. The specification included a Remington-designed bullet and the use of IMR4475 powder, which resulted in a muzzle velocity of 3,250 ft/s and a chamber pressure of 52,000 psi. In the spring of 1962, Remington submitted the specifications of the .223 Remington to the Sporting Arms and Ammunition Manufacturers' Institute (SAAMI). In December 1963, Remington introduced its first rifle chambered for .223 Remington a Model 760 rifle. FEDERAL CARTRIDGE/VISTA XM855. Federal XM855FL XM 223 Remington/5.56 NATO 62 GR Full Metal Jacket (FMJ) 20 Box. This is the famous and hard to find mil-spec M855 Steel core Green Tip. It is loaded to NATO specs and is not intended for use in commercial or bolt-action rifles chambered in 223 Remington ammo, but is perfect for your AR15 in 5.56 cal. This is the same ammo in use by our troops right now in Afghanistan. Please check with your gun manufacturer prior to purchasing this ammo. Each round is brass-cased, boxer-primed, non-corrosive, and reloadable. It is both economical and precision manufactured in the USA. Hope this info helps. Have a great day and keep shooting.
Thanks for the info. Very interesting
Valuable lesson here...55gr FMJ will suffice, but for the advanced opponent, keep that 62gr GT handy...it kinda reminds me of Enchanted Weapons in D&D...
👍👍
Haha, I love the D&D reference. It's like a +2 damage or something.
I always like these experiment/demonstration videos, thanks for doing these. Just curious; did the green tip that cratered the second block cause any spall or cracks on the back side of that block?
Didn't look at the back of the 2nd
I swear brother, one of these days I will finally have seen all your videos. I sure do enjoy this channel, best thing going here on youtube! None of the drama doom and gloom, just blasting lots of cool things and ammunition. The definition of FUN. Plus, you use ALL THE ZOOOOOOMS!!!
I would guess that neither one of them will go through the second one
👍👍
Hell yeah they are worth it, although they are not Meant to be armor piercing rounds, they will penetrate A lot better than standard FMJ. That's what their purpose was always intended. I'm glad I went around to all my local walmarts and bought up all the green tips that they still had before they started to not sell This type of ammo anymore. 15 Of those 475 round boxes of greentip. a few thousand rounds of 9mm. And twenty 100 round boxes of standard 223.
Goddamn, the green tip really brought its A-game! I did not expect it to make that kind of damage on the second one
Surprised me
Green tip is eco friendly... lead free President BO closed the last lead mine in the USA
Only the Internal tip is steel. The rest of the bullet is lead behind the steel tip and then the entire bullet is covered in a copper jacket.
If you're a professional in the business of transportation/protection of UHNW individuals or P.E.P.'s , or you're tasked with transportation of high value assets, then the extra expense and the overpenetration disadvantages are almost negligible with a view on the risk of your trade.
For the rest of us mortals, is not a practical option; fun, yesss... useful, not.
Thanks for the test & video. It sure was interesting!!
@I Am Sentinel I know they're meant for combat. However, several countries allow access to special ordnance and also to full auto weapons to accredited/licensed professionals of the trades which I mentioned.
That's the reason I worded my comment the way I did.
However, overpenetration consequences cannot be ignored since professionals of those trades are not afforded any 'blanket protection' for injury or damage caused to third parties or their property even when they discharge their weapons justifiedly, unlike the lattitude afforded to offcially assigned security detail personnel for high ranking public/govmnt officers.
Accuracy was not a consideration in my comment since in real life, live fire exchanges of the kind involving V.I.P. or Assets protection occur in close range, although they can be very, very intense (e.g., the failed attempt a few months ago againts the head of Justice Department of Mexico)
@I Am Sentinel Hi! You know,.. you're right in several issues you mentioned.
These are testing times, I admit it.
In this year, and so very much in the last months many of us have experienced sad, sad losses, and our beliefs, our decency, our moral credence has been tried.
Even our faith has been put to trial. Our faith in ourselves and in our G_d Allmighty.
But somewhere, deep inside, I harbor a calm belief, a certainity, that this is not yet the time the Book of Revelations speaks about.
I do not know if this is a prelude to such times, or if it is a junction, a turning point which might lead to it if we, mankind, make (or keep making) wrong choices.
All I know is that, this yet is not that time.
We have to be resilient, persevere, remain strong in our faith, be watchful for evil and reject it in our hearts and deeds.
"All that evil needs to triumph is for good men to do nothing to stop it or prevent it"
It still is in our hands.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding is that the M855 was given a steel tip for flight stability issues, not penetration enhancement (though penetration capabilities were affected). If you read Blackhawk Down, there's an interesting passage describing how many of the GIs hated the round because in combat it sailed through flesh without causing much damage. It was likened to stabbing someone with an ice pick.
Your problem like many is that you are looking for Hollywood insta-kills. You have to factor in not everybody is gonna be standing still, people are going to be hiding behind cover and every shot is not going to be a perfect "kill shot." Stop chasing the ultimate kill round. It does not exist in small arms unless you can carry a 50 cal machine gun like Rambo
I know that the green tip fired out of a 16 inch barrel with a 1 and 9 twist will punch through a quarter inch of steel like it's not even there. When the shop nearest to me went out of business a year or so ago, I walked in at just the right time everything he had was on sale especially the ammo the ammo was dirt ass cheap I picked up just over 2,000 rounds of the green tip 855 for about $0.06 a round.
Even if the characteristics were damn nearly the same it wasn't a loss. And then I find out it punches through a quarter inch of 200 yards I don't think m193 or 223 can do that I mean I might be mistaken but I have yet to experience it or see anybody else do that.
@@NortheastSurvival911 nice
@@JimmyDBlock definitely no complaints on my end. That's a substantial amount of ammo for such a cheap price. I would have been a fool to say no.
Who tee who . Any rounds will penetrate vests if it's got that core look at 5.7 that's a tiny slug no difference if it's got a green tip 🦊🐾🇬🇧
So the identical .22 magnum has them too?
I was in Walmart a few years ago and bought 3 420 round cans of 5.56 2 of them were 62 grain green tip it was all Federal ammo. I hunt with Hornady 75gr. BTHP 223
They will penetrate the thinner body armor, like lever 2-3a (Possibly 3A, I'm not 100% on that level) but they absolutely will NOT penetrate anything thats level 3 or higher. Not a true level THR33 or higher. As i said before, the Green Tips arent AP rounds. They do NOT meet the guidelines for AP rounds. But the are enhanced penetration rounds for sure!!! Lol.
Watchable as usual! Have you ever thought of using a big bore muzzle loader like a Hawken in 50 cal. or a Brown Bess musket in 0.69 inch I believe. These are big mass bullets that are half the speed of your .223". I bet they could do some damage to cinder blocks. I know that you can get hard lead too. It might be interesting?
I have some.....i just hate cleaning muzzleloaders. Mine are all covered in rust
I keep some green tips, never a bad idea to have a variety of ammo. I guess the most likely use I can think is if you had to shoot a vehicle or occupants in a vehicle
Hey, that "Frontier" ammo is NOT made by "Hornady"!!! Not at all even a lil bit whatsoever!!! Frontier simply loads their ammo with the Hornady lead head!!! And some of you might think that makes it Hornady ammo but its not. Only the actual bullet thats loaded into their cartridges and their powder load and work. Its def NOT Hornady ammo!!! Lmao.
Looks like them Green Meenies Did More Work Than You Expected, Aye??? Lol. They dont meet the guidlines for a AP Round But they DEF have enhanced penetration over standard lead ammo!!! But the are steel penetrator ammo so it is to be expected from them.
Looks like they both worked as they were supposed to. Kool shirt!👍
Have a Blessed Day!🙏🕊🦅🇺🇸

Thanks Adam. Missed the live chat, AGAIN.
Regular.223 ammo is for plinkin. Green tips are for TCB!
Fmj M80 are not AK rounds...they are 7.62 x 51 nato...much stronger than an AK...that is all ..thanks for your videos!!
PMC Green Tip costs me about the same as a good hollow point. And the PMC has pretty good ballistics. Its not match grade but most Green Tip isnt. But it is pretty Dayum Consistent!!! And thats what matter most to me with these rounds. Match grade would def be better for longer range aiming but not as much for most situations that call for the need of your rifle.....
Thanks for the video!
I just bought 1000 rounds of the Federal 62 grain green tips. It definitely performs better!
I was hoping this wasn't a re-upload of the body armor video, but I'm glad it's a new one :) I think they fragment when they hit concrete, the green tip stayed together, and trucked on through till it lost velocity.
Hey who...do a video on the bottom line of 556 vs 223, 762 nato to 308. What can should we know? What's safe, general easy rule of thumb....
Well now that was a interesting video and I have always known that those green tips do not fool around because I have had quite a few of them for years I don't shoot a lot of them but I shoot them at various different things but I've used them in different experiments and know that they are pretty potent.
Thanks for watching David
Just bought a Ruger American ranch in 5.56 still want to know the capabilities super late to the video
I just seen my comment spell check (gave me) is not what I said I don't know how that even got there any way 28ga shotgun 5 shot pistol the olny time I seen it was a old video from shot show in Las Vegas.
Try 855 on it's intended target, radiator and aluminum engine block. Does terrible things to pickups.
It would have been nice to see the back of the second paver from the green tip. Just for breakage reference. See if it broke anything out back or just made a divet in the front only. They tend to break kinda like glass from a bb though. Bust a small section in the front and then a cone busted off the back.
Another cool vid. Be awesome to see if you could catch the green tip bullet after it passes through the first paver to see what shape it's in. Looked to be a very clean pass.
Good idea
Really got my attention on
"Welper if's 55 gRain if thats means anythik to anybody'.
Now I'm going on the idea this is just a guy having fun and tossing jokes in and stuff.
what you need to test is M855A1 rounds. ill give you a few for free if you live in or near indiana
Thats what im goingvto use, Hornady Frontier, and Federal green-tip.
Green tips for plinkin and 75gr hornady match hollow pt for the hunt for that cal.
👍👍
Do a video with 2506 and 270 on regular 1/2 steel and testing the bullet speed on both of them with the chronograph + try to get the same bullets for each one
And by the way can you tell where u got your Shirt from cause i really like it
Exactly what the green tip is designed to do. Not actually a armor piercing round, rather a penetrating round. For when some dipshit hides behind light cover.
At least we know it only takes four rounds to get through eight inches of block! FMJ'S are just fine. Unless you just absolutely need to get through armor!
👍👍
Woth it? I guess it depends mostly on how much your paying for them and what your going to use them for? we have about a thousand rounds of green tip 556 but I wont use them to punch holes in paper. but if I really wanted penetration the green tip would be the go to round. great video as always!
Always appreciate you watching Tim!
Where I buy ammo, the difference in price between the 55 and 62 green tip isn't enough to worry about.
Im buying some 🟢paint 👌asap❗️
WTW, greetings from Arkansas my friend! I have never liked the 5.56/.223 in any rifle I have ever had, semi, bolt and single shot. I have built several AR 15's and my favorite caliber in that rifle is 6.5 Grendel. In my humble opinion, that is the caliber our military should be using. How about doing a paver test on it? I will even send you one of my rifles I built to do the test! Keep up the good work, your videos are some of my favorites.
6.5 Grendel is one that gets requested a lot that I have not yet tried.
When Obama tried to ban them I bought a couple 100 rounds, even though I didn't own an AR at the time.
bought 100 rounds of greentips I just carry 1 mag of green tip and 2 mags of fmj and just change to the tips in the event i need more penetration.
2 shots with ball and second went through below, 2 shots with green tip second one went through up top. They’re both devastating rounds I’d go with quantity over quality on this specific ammo type. Idk why people are saying that the bottom hole was green tips cause it clearly was not.
Yes it was the green tips that went through, and green tips in Arizona are priced reasonably.
Saw these PMC bran green tips at my local shop for $11.98 in socal
You should watch Paul Harrell video on the comparison of green tip and ball. 😉
I can't see myself needing to shoot through a cinderblock, but the experiment is still fun. A more useful test for many of us might be how many sandbags we need to build a backstop for green tips versus how many we need for regular FMJ rounds.
M855 green tips are on sale for 43 cents per round online today. 11-15-22
Back of plate still says clean with a dump sponge?
Am I the only one seeing this???
And Milt soap? I think its made somewhere else? Good catch.
I like your videos but as a former concrete truck driver I have to point out that those are cinder blocks not concrete!
About what I expected. Great for light armor and barrier penetration and still kill on other side.

I love the green tips. This video tho reminds me why I need some the 55gr stuff cuz that 55gr stuff is great for varmints. 62gr M855 green tips have a steel core penetrator so their better for self defense and plinking.

The green tips have a steel core penetraitor. Cabela's use to sell them in bulk for reloading for cheap, labeled as SS109 bullets. I should have bought a ton of them because now they're hard to come by.
Remember that. Yeah deffently should of make good trading stock
