Hopefully I didn’t go on too long about CV’s in this one. They are the source of most issues I have with this game, and brawling BB’s are the best target for them. Preussen is likely quite good when in close quarters and not dealing with planes.

No such thing as going on too long about CVs, IMO. They are a disaster for everything else in the game.
Another thing with the Preussen btw: I'm fairly sure Weegee screwed up one of the armour values. If you take a look at the bottom ring for the turrets [where the turrets themselves sit on the barbettes], the armour there is 75mm....instead of the 175mm on GK. This means that Thunderer can knock out your turrets with HE.
CV hate is getting old. I understand they create issues, but enough has been said to the proper ears. I came to PQ's content specifically because there is minimal CV toxicity, compared to others like Flamu, Flambass, and Jingles who seem to jab at CVs every 5 minutes.
In general this channel is positive, or at least constructive. There's enough toxic garbage in my life I don't need it in my YT entertainment.
I played carriers almost exclusively until the rework, then I quit the game entirely.
Hey potato I have done some testing with the ship where I do a hybrid build of three typical builds. The build takes advantage of a tank build with a focus on aa and secondaries for support. For upgrades instead of the secondary mod in slot 3 I took the dispersion mod and that has given me ohio/shikishima levels of accuracy which holds about 80% of the time. With captain skills, I dropped the basics of survivability and also vigilance and took the aa skills in addition to the secondary skills. This leaves me with a 11km secondary range and a 92 aa rating. This aa rating allows the preussen to rival that of Monty and republique in terms of defense to deal with carriers much better than the gk.
I want to see you correctly aiming the far enough lead on a Yamato because you were hitting the belt armor of it not the cheek. Please
It's definately just a better GK in my book. Much better turret angles, 30mm overmatch and higher pen, and with the improved reload and shell damage, you only sacrifice 5% dpm! Of cource, the guns are still really unrelyable, and getting a chance to brawl hard to come by, but it's at least an improvement over what we had!😊
Totally irrelevant because you can NEVER rely on one salvo to do good damage. GK with dispersion mod, broadside BBs at 12km are GUARANTEED 25k+ damage. In pressen it's 15k if you're lucky.
@ Hagostaeldmann - maybe at long range gk may get lucky like that, but preussian kicks ass in medium to close range with that reload. I tear a ship down in 2 salvos as his guns are still reloading.

The sad part is german ships were probably way more accurate than most other ships
Actually they were, the only other ships with higher accuracy were American and possibly some British ships.
British BBs were less accurate than German BBs in part due to the Britishs worse gun barrel/riffleing technology manufacturing processes that lead to less accurate large caliber guns.
Have you heard of the hood?
Found a hybrid build, build into the secondaries everywhere else, but take the Aiming mod. It tightens up those salvos.
Then you got just bsd secondaries. Not Worth it if you build into range and reload for them but you cant hit stuff.
Then your secondaries become really short ranged. It makes no sense to have secondaries then, better take tanking skills.
Not for me. I play with close combat expert, thats why i need the secondary range.
Still hybrid. Both reload mod and fire prevention are the most valuable things to have. I sacrifice a heal, concealment expert and dispersion module which is overrated anyways. Its 7%, people act like its 30%...
The trick on ger BBs is to go for as many salvos as possible. Dont expect much from a single salvo but the more you shoot the more good hits you ll get. And if someone says standart build, then play a diferent line in the first place. Ger BBs are here to use stuff like secondaries and close combat expert even tho the 3m secondary module is a waste.

Went for a hybrid Build and got 188k in first Match. Rudder, maingun but still 11km manual secundary. Pretty balanced imo.

The thing about Preussen I have found, is you need to not be afraid to swap to HE for angled battleships. Its alot more effective than the AP because of the poor dispersion, and the HE has a near 50% Fire chance.
As it stands, I initially went a secondary build for her but it never seemed to be overly worth it. So I respecced into the guns, and holy hell was it a difference.
While not as accurate as the Thunderer, he accuracy is still good enough to smack most cruisers that are bow in even at mid to long range, getting nearly 75% of my shells fired throughout the entire game on target. Pretty scary damage numbers that come from it lol.
Not bad, though German battleships typically shine at mid to short range
Both Ohio and Thunderer got a better dispersion compared to Montana and Conqueror.
This one has the same dispersion of the GK.

Dumb question though. My idea from this patch was that the GK was getting replaced with the Preussen, but in actuality, I just got some Credits for half of a GK and now have to re-grind the Preussen from the FdG.
Was this actually how it was supposed to work?...
@@vtr0104 It's how i got it months ago. I was already working on Tashkent, skilled Khaba without buying it, played Thaskent for another 250k experience and now i can get Delny as soon i have the credits. Point is that i sold my FdG - for me the worst T9 BB - and i really don't want to regrind that line considering i already own GK and Schlieffen.
It feels more like a battlecruiser than battleship to me. The gun dispersion is wonky as F but the reload is the balance i guess.

I really like what you say about CVs. "It's just painful man! Because there is no counterplay. There is literally nothing for me to do. All I can do is maneuver and that's not gameplay. That's being a fish in a barrel. That's all. It sucks." => this quote goes into my game review! It expresses perfectly my opinion and feeling about CVs! F them!
Kinda annoyed i have to research and purchase another tier 10 BB, after already completing that damn line already
second battle in my Preussen, i was dead within the first 5 minutes due to the enemy Midway focusing me down, shot 18 planes down and ate an arse ton of torps & bombs, had like 5k dmg

To be honest potato, I enjoy when a CV wants to just focus u. Simply turn around and troll him in chat. The more HE focuses u, and less for the team, the better chances of a win. Having him waste that much time to keep chasing you towards the back of the map just ups the ante! GG
I agree especially with a full aa build on the preussen, it rivals that of an aa build Monty and repub minus the aa mod in slot 6 on monty.
If this ship had better forward angles and better dispersion with a slightly slower reload it’d probably be good. Seems like a Freddy at tier X now honestly.
Honestly it pretty well is a FDG at tier X level and I think that's exactly what the DEVs were going for. So mission accomplished I guess?

Glad I watched this before spending free XP on Preussen. I'll just enjoy GK more now that I can freely switch commanders.
1st game I had 220k damage and 4 million tanked … not bad was fun

CV players are the type of people that camp graveyards and spawn points in other games
They’re also the type to use the oppressor mk.II and randomly destroy cargo in GTA lobbies.
Don't be so harsh on the ship PQ. It is good, a tank/main battery build is the way to go. Accuracy can be suspect at time, but at 21 seconds reload, it doesn't matter. Ship is fairly tanky once the super gets saturated. And the rear angles are excellent, better than Ohio or Montana, we are looking at Bourgogne levels of kiting.
I have build the Preußen the same way I have already built the Großer Kurfürst. Tank Build.
It works very well when you are in close change. Reload drops to around 17 sec and it feels way more strong than the secondary build
Can you slap the legendary mod on the Prussian?
I really appreciate your upbeat attitude even when the game RNG is kinda dumping on you. And you're right being dumped on by a CV all game long has to be one of the most annoying things in a match. It's also nice to see you put up games where you didn't necessarily have your best games or make all the right choices or play against nothing but potatoes.
I hope to test it ASAP ... I have to regrind the FDG : I unlocked the GK but I did not have enough credits for purchase ... so with the update now I have got the GK but I have to grind 255K XP again to unlock the Preussen ... WTF WG!

Preussen is basically a tweaked Republique. Better survivability (especially against Yamato and DDs, if you know how to angle of course) but worse accuracy and mobility.
Of course, you can also see it as a secondary ship, but I'd rather play Schlieffen or Pommern at tier 9.
It is actually a beefed up FDG.
Potato Quality, you got unlucky with that Yamato, I wrecked one last night in a similar encounter, tore him in half with the preussian. Give the main battery build a bit more time to get used to.

I have a question regarding the Preussen, does it totally replace République with the gimmick of overmatching 30 mm of armor and quick reloading guns or the poor dispersion on her main battery hold her back from taking such a role ?

When they take the Gk away do they only give you back the silver and not the XP you had to earn to get the Gk? They gave me the silver but not I have to get 250k xp to get it?
What was the reason they replaced GK after all these years?
small question, never played the game when they replaced a techline ship, but if you have GK you're not supposed to have to "replay" the FDG to farm preussen right?
You would have to regrind the FDG to get the Prussian. Now, if you don't want to grind it again, whaling it via free XP is an option. I myself am gonna do that.
i really wish i had 2 gunther lutjens so i could keep one with the schlieffen & the preussen.
After some games i feel disappointed by this ship, GK seems more accurate than this thing, maybe because it has more guns. The accuracy is too bad imo, to much frustration

Does the Preußen have improved secondary accuracy over the gk?
In this era of he spam and fires you can not afford to not take fire prevention. I have a hybrid main gun on my mainline German BBs and do quite good. Yes CVs suck.
20 sec reload dont mean nothing when the disperstion is terrible
First game I had with it was really good. 4 kills and around 150-180 Damage. Dispersion and range is not the best but larger calibre guns does help alot. Secondaries provide a decent nuisance. Honestly not ground-breaking and compared to a GK or the other battleships, not alot different. Play it well, can reap some good damage but you can also take damage as to maximise the guns you open up alot of broadside. Not great but not bad either, good to have 3 german T10 BBs that are equally fun to play.

Is the Ohio still worth the research points when this thing is available through the tech tree?
It is still very much worth it. Though they appear similar, they still feel different. Ohio is more meta friendly and has more comfortable accuracy, but Preussen would be unmatched in any brawling scenario.

I've been noticing that strange/incorrect(?) damage for what the ribbons are claiming you did pen wise a lot in this ship and am wondering if its bugged. Often see 1 overpen and 1 full pen but only receive 3k damage dealt, which should indicate 2 overpens with this thing. IDK something that might need to be looked into.
a pen in the turrets count as a normal pen but only deals overpen damage, same with torpedo tubes and secondary turrets
its true that there is a bug where you get bounces or shatters but you still deal damage
I play her as a standard BB and she's better than GK in that role. Only have a 14 point captain so I maybe I will put some points towards secondaries later on. At midrange she is alright as it is.
This ship can be reliable only in full secondaries mod. These guns will not do a lot better with dispersion mod.
This is about close quarters and ambushes.
German battleships ARE very good. They are really armored brawlers, not snipers like Montana, Ohio. Easy. It's like to compare a Barrett with an M4. Everyone is good in their role. Try to citadel a Preussen! Good luck!

5 months ago you did a video on the republique with 15 sec reload. I think you can do the same with this ship as well. Maybe you can do a video on it??? With better secondaries on the pressuen, it will be interesting to see.
I prefer using hybrid or just normal bb build, as hybrid keeping the secondary commander skill and just change the modul to more focused on main gun instead (mg accuracy and reload). The main gun are bread and butter on this ship, but sadly it has questionable dispersion lol

It is better then the GK but not by much, I have also gone full secondaries and I think I might try a hybrid build next.

WG tried to changes two lines at once and failed at both. Preussen is a let down.

Is Delny a fail as well? I just recently got Khaba so I don’t have Delny yet. If so then that’s a big fail on their part.
I was under free impression the Delny was a super Tashkent so I was excited. If it’s just a worse Khaba then that’s depressing.
@@wtpiv6041 Delny is more of a versatile play. Khaba is straight gunboat and torp ambush.
@@wtpiv6041 There is just no point in having Delny when we have Grozovoi, that does everything better while having smoke and heal. Delny got a last minute nerf, making it have the exact same DPM as the Kiev while having only +800m base range.

I thought you'd supposed to get this one unlocked if you had GK, but I now found out I have to grind through FDG again... I'm not doing it anytime soon.
its very much been announced by several people and WG at several occasion. If you had GK researched but not bought, you got GK for free. if you had GK bought, you had several million credit given to you to buy Preussen. GK also got special ship economic bonuses. Litterally everyone was aware of it.

Nope. Put the dispersion mod on there, buff secondaries and aa through skills and upgrades while doing a partial tank build and you got a german ohio. Prussian aa buffed through skills and upgrades leads to Monty/repub levels of defense against CVs and secondaries at 11km is a plus as well.
I was looking at the fire prevention skill but then thinking about the other skill that speeds your guns 5% for every fire on your ship... Not sure which would be better on Preussen.
Don’t think the 5% is worth it. I’d recommend going Concealment Expert, Close Quarters (10% main battery reload buff when someone is in the 11km secondary range) or Manual Secondaries and one of the survivability skills, either fire prevention or extra heals.
FP is the better skill. Furious is only worth it on ships with a superheal, because they can afford to take more fire damage as they can heal it all back.
It’s too big, slow, and eats too much damage to be an Ohio. Ohio can somewhat dodge shells and has better armor. This thing is just a damage piñata to farm. And Ohio guns are much much better
the armor on ohio is worse in every aspect, event superstructure is big too

@@pancement Nope German BB in generally suffer from the have to much armor syndrome, where a ohio will take a hit it'll take alot more overpens for rather minor damage where as the preussen takes pens all day long at just about every angle.
It makes the light armor better in most ways in game.
@@newhope33 yeah, but thats why ger bbs armor usually saves the user, where in ohio you usually get a citadel hit if you are broadside. It is better technically, but remember that this game without any reasons supports having worse armor than better (excluding rus bbs for obvious reasons)
Who would think Germans stick with the 2 guns per turret arrangement bc it was more accurate, right?

lets be real people would take a 100 second reload if they could hit the same spot every single time. Anyway WG seems to doing VERY WELL with the submarines, so hopefully when they get done with that they drag Carriers back to the drawing board.
I just played a game in Preussen... 160k, with 120k done by secondaries... The Main guns are complete trash imo
Hate that you can't brawn anymore, used to be the best part of the game.
At the moment its hard to see how effective this ship is, I spend most games thumping GK's or Preussen.

jesus, the schliefens secondaries are too much lol. I was playing the f.der trasher yesterday and had 76 secondaries fired and 1!!!!! secondary hit. what the hell is that?!
Full secondary build is pointless if you are running it on GK as well. Much better to keep the secondary build but use the main battery 6th slot. The dispersion module is also garbage as it brings 7%, which is barely noticable.
I use the dispersion mod on my preussen and I get ohio levels of dispersion 80% of the time.
I also use the dispersion module and it made a big difference in accuracy ! If you know how to aim.

Secondary Module in the 3 Million slot is such a waste. Do you wanna buff the source of 4/5 or 1/5 of your damage ? The answer is easy. Reload module is a nobrainer.
And dispersion module is overrated. 7% but people act like its 30%.
Just go for as many salvos as possible on german BBs and dont expect much. Then they will surprise you. More salvos means more good salvos.

I've been thinking about the whole CV attacks one ship to get him out the game, I think they could work on a mechanic where if you're focused your ships AA gets better for a while (as the gunners get there sights trained better) however if you're last 3 alive or something this could be disabled or within certain range of the CV so you can't rush a cv and he can't do anything about it. So off the bat a cv can't focus one guy down and ruin their game and promote scouting and damage multiple different ships.
I would hardly be against this. First of all: How would you track it? And this would only punish bad CV players, because most good CV players know how to scout, when to scout and so on. If you're standing alone, miles away from teammates, then the CV is free to punish you from isolating. That's just how CV's work in my opinion. So, although it's a nice thought for some people, it demolishes one important purpose of CV, that is to punish people who isolate themselves.
@@silwarhd3851 I'm not talking crazy buffs. But sometimes you don't even isolate yourself and can still be dropped multiple times. Just trying to think of ways to shake things up. And I agree would be hard to track and implement.

I'd rather have a long reload and be able to hit my target, than have half that and never land a shell.

That plus German BBs are notorious for easy deck pens. It’s basically just a free buffet for a CV.

CV players always start inhaling massive copium when someone criticizes their favourite class.
That aside, I have mixed feelings about the Preussen. I enjoy the much faster reload, that's for sure, but everything else about definitely aligns with the rest of the line: unwieldy, inaccurate, and little more than a giant piñata.
You should just call it the Prussian as thats what its called in english :)

If they just buffed the dispersion this ship would be better but since it's german they won't, heck they are already nerfing the shelifian and that was finally a good german ship. But Germany can't have anything good in a Russian game.
