Chen is our OST king!! He sang the OST for both Kyungsoo drama Best Luck and Cherry Blossom Love Song. Other OST include Everytime, Make it Count etc
Thank you May Toh! It was my first kdrama and where I discovered EXO so did not know the members at all. I do remember the song and how beautiful it was and now know it was Chen’s beautiful voice. Must download it. Still have so many songs that I haven’t heard from this group so glad that RJ is sharing these mini albums with all of us.

He released Hello before announcing that he's going to the military after half a year on a hiatus. The lyrics are very meaningful because he announces his marriage and baby and later on that he's going to the military in a handwritten letter to the fans.
He's going to be back in 11 days though 💞 April 25th-26th is his discharge date 🥹
Beautiful Goodbye is the title track of his debut mini album and as you know Shall We is the title track of his second mini album. Both were released in 2019.
He's considered OST King. His first ost Best Luck was for a drama where Kyungsoo played in 2014 called That's Okay It's Love. It's actually the song that made me check out Chen and EXO 💞
He has a lot of different osts for movies and drama's, but probably the most well known is the one for Kyungsoo's drama Cherry Blossom Love Song or Everytime for Descendants Of The Sun.
He leans more towards ballads, but in Exo concerts, at least the early ones he did rock solo stuff, he has a few different collabs too like the one with 10cm, which is a totally different vibe, it has an MV too if you want to check it out, it's called Bye Babe.

After Chen enlisted, I became an Exo-L (thx to ksoo's 100 day my prince, luv yu penguin, kiyowooo), what I learned later, it's so sad to know that he went to the military with a broken heart.. there is only less then 2 weeks away from his discharge. Even though I'm super excited, it still hurts my heart to think about Chen.. I hope you'll be happier when you come Jongdae than when you go to military..

In this album Chen incorporated britpop, retro pop,jazz and some ballad for the songs.

Hello (October 16th,2020)
This song was released as a goodbye song before his enlistment. This release was made in the middle of the blackfash he's received since his marriage announcement... In this song he references the handwritten letters he made for his marriage and enlistment announcements.

The way Chen delivers the message through his songs is really amazing. Whenever I first listened to Chen, I already felt the emotion even before reading the lyrics.

Yes RJ, Chen is the king of OST's for years now. My favorite is the theme to "Descendants of the Sun", a great drama I watched a few years back, and my ultimate favorite "Cherry Blossom Love Song", the love theme song of D.O.'s drama "100 Days My Prince" from a couple years back..one of the best period piece dramas ever. (Historical) D.O. plays a prince in love with a girl from his childhood...a very beautiful and cinematic love story. Maybe one day you will do that drama.
But yes, all Exo members have a distinct sound and style all their own, and Chen is known for his ballad style, he creates tear-jerker songs, his first album "April and a Flower" are songs that make you cry, and he sounds amazing. He sings with such emotion, there's no doubt he could relate memories from his own experiences. "Beautiful Goodbye" has made me cry, just because it's so beautiful. The muted colors of pale pink and ash grey relate to the end of winter, and by the time April comes along, so does spring and new blossoms...a metaphor to the possibility of new love down the road, but wishing the best for the one you used to love...but always keeping the good memories. So beautiful huh?

I'm glad you liked Chen's music, his emotions to the songs his singing are on a different level really. Chen has actually been singing OSTs, he sang 2 OSTs from D.O's 2 dramas too, It's Okay That's Love and 100 Days My Prince , Baekhyun and EXO-CBX have sang OSTs too, even Chanyeol, actually most of the members have sang OSTs for dramas and films. You should check them out. I guarantee they won't disappoint. :)
Add Suho, Xiumin, and Lay to the list. They all have sang OSTs for dramas. Yixing even won best OST in China for alone which he composed.

Yess King of ballads.. all his songs from both mini album he has are all in my nightplaylist that i play everynight. The 1st album is more sad songs, and the 2nd album is more happier or we can say full of love. But all of that songs are melodically beautiful 🥰

Hello - this was what a lot of EXO-L’s interpreted as his reach out post marriage and baby news where he faced a LOT of stupid hate from frankly not real fans or antis. Demanding he leave EXO. Chen I honestly think was in a hard position as he didn’t want to hurt fans but of course wanted to be happy about his new family life and share it with exo-ls as well as members. Hello was like the silence breaker after SM and the EXO members basically said ‘jog on’ to the antis and he wasn’t going anywhere in respect to the group. He did have to go off enlistment but we literally get him back in like less than 20days now. The lyrics talk about not having the words, being overwhelmed and fearing bursting with an expression that made things worse. But for true fans, real exo-ls, he missed them and simply said Hello. It’s so tender.
Beautiful goodbye - just the idea of trying to let go of a relationship and believe that the other won’t hurt as much and will be happier. Haunting melody. Theories abound that his albums are the story of his love going through trials, almost breaking from fears and pressures but then in being realised in his following instalments. But it’s all up to interpretation lol
Shall we - feels like the loved up chapter either early in relationship or perhaps how he was feeling when he and his now wife came together. Who knows but it’s clear the positive and exciting mood of the lyrics and melody expresses. Uwu loved up Chen lol

In fact, I have been listening to his song Everytime for Descendants of the Sun nonstop without knowing he is from EXO. And loved it even more after finding out he has tons of OST plus obviously songs with EXO and solo too.

Voice like an angel; in my opinion, easily among the top five vocalists in the industry. He Is very well suited to ballads, but also to rock. When he was on Masked Singer, one of the judges was sure he was from a rock group, and he wasn’t even singing rock, more like power ballads, which he also excels at.

I found him through everytime ost in drama descendants of the sun,it plays so much specially in scenes where male leads affection is depicted in romantic scenes ,I fell for his romantic heart fluttering voice , his sad love confession in cherry blossom love song in the kdrama where D.O is the lead, is also amazing .
The first album is superb.
You should also check out his covers on his UA-cam channel.
And his OSTs are so good, they made me watch the dramas.

And "Hello" breaks me everytime thinking of how Chen must have felt; his fears that exo-ls would leave him TT TT because of his decision to have a life, (antis giving him grief and asking for him to be kicked out of EXO *grrr) and all he could think of was to wish us well and hope that we are doing okay. Counting the days till he's discharged from the military and comes back to us!!! Yaaay!!!

I have always assumed that the tree was the EXO tree, and the reason it was kind of dead looking is because of an allusion to Chen's lightning. Also because the song was about heartache, and the breakup or death of a relationship. I could be wrong, but that's the way I have always taken it.
he just enjoys ballads. both of his albums are ballads. & what i read before that he just want to try more ballads for his solo stuff since he gets to do more upbeat/edm/r&b tracks w/ EXO.
