Yes but that applies only for things we don't have. What's the excuse for not ordering Pinaka-2 in large numbers? Pinaka-3 may be in development but that doesn't mean Pinaka-2 can't be ordered to close gap with mbrls of Chin-Pak. Same with ATAGS. The Khaau log have found perfect excuse. During peace times they keep pushing local products back to drawing boards and wasting time in Sweet trial, Sour trial, hot trial, high trial ....... and then if pushed give a token small order. I hope someday we don't have to buy stuff from BD or Kenya
Problem is we lack mass production/manufacturing of equipment. Big powers do not just spend on R&D but also mass producing that tech. It is due to our lackluster, lazy approach. And also due to KEEPING PRIVATE COMPANIES AWAY FROM DEFENSE MANUFACTURING. HAL AND OFBs are SYMBOL OF INCOMPETENCE.

Great video. I think accountability is an issue with the higher ups and administration guys (Babus). There are enough ways to fix it (Finland, Norway, Singapore models)but no body dares to touch them even if there is political will. The biggest problem I think is delayed defence procurement practice. You name it any project or procurement, the file just keeps moving from one office to another.
I suggest , bureaucrats must undergo six months to one year postings every 5 years, in forward areas to understand ground realities. One year after their return to civil posting they their CRs should reflect improved grading, to reflect in their career growth.

Alpha bhai but at present army has no options except sprut because drdo cannot make a present generation light tank overnight.it would take years to make indegenous light tank.And why should we make 105mm gun?if russians can make 18tonne tank with 125mm gun (but weak armour of course)why can't we make 20-25 ton class light tank with 125mm gun and strong armour.right now we have to buy sprut as it is a tested platform.regarding tata kestrel, without testing a tank under all 3 types of our country conditions (extremely hot,extremely cold and moist)kestrel cannot be approved as weaknesses show only during testing.right now under present conditions sprut is the only option.buy few hundreds to make minimum deterrence and than drdo and tata make future tanks.

Isn't it possible to build a 2 manned light tank from scratch within 3-4 years? In my opinion, our light tank must have an Active protection system too ( like as iron Fist on American light tank) and should have a completely new chassis. The chassis can be something similar to armata UCP.

I feel it is possible for India to make a Light tank in less than 2 years. We have already made Arjun, it needs to be sized down with maybe same engine smaller bore. But our production is not geared to mass produce. Russia always mass produced but also quickly learnt flaws and fixed it.
The previous government's destroyed our indigenous defense industry by buying foreign weapons and neglecting our indigenous capabilities, nor did they try to improve the indigenous capabilities. Now when the present government is improving the domestic capabilities along with the help of private companies, we should have patience. Also in the desperate time when the enemy is standing at the gate we can't think of developing new weapons, we have to get what is easily available and defend our country.

DRDO is actually white elephant of Indian government. ... Both are wasting tax payers money. ...
