“If you build it, they will come” is from Field of Dreams.
Also reminds me of a conversation Robert Kiyosaki had with an author who was mad he had a best-selling book. The author said their work was clearly better and Kiyosaki said something like “It doesn’t say best WRITTEN book. It says best SELLING book.”
He tells the story in the preface or early chapters of one of his books, I don’t remember which.
Thanks for listening, Phil!
Re: which Robert Kiyosaki book: Rich Dad Poor Dad
And the Interviewer wasn't mad that Kiyosaki had a best-selling book. She asked him HOW wrote a best selling book. He told her not to focus on writing, because it mattered less than most think it does. He told her she didn't need to be a good writer, just a good marketer. She got offended that one could write a 'best-selling' book without being a 'best-WRITING' author, or even a good author.
I leave with great nuggets every time I watch you two. THANKS for the constant value. Today some of the nuggets (1) have a ‘bucket of hooks’ to pull from (2) tweet once a day for 365 days. I actually just started the 52 weeks of newsletter writing after watching Dickie on something. Guess I will do both now. 😮 (3)my fave- push your work like you’re selling mixtapes from your trunk! That made a 💡 go off in my brain! LOVED that! Again, THANKS for this wonderful information.
Glad you enjoyed this one, Sally!
Another great espresso sesh.
AI is a thought provoking topic. If the driving force of creating AI is to maximise efficiency and ideation will be delivered by humans. Does this mean ideation will reach a fixed level of maximum efficency for it not to need AI?
I believe in order to preserve something, you must introduce boundaries. While at the same time engage with the things that poses a threat to your preservation.
AI is the most unregulated territory at the moment.
This would be a thought provoking Twitter post and expanded article. 👌
Thanks for listening, Darius! You bring up some great points about the AI/human dynamic!
"Capture ideas on your IPhone", OHhh! Thank you for that nugget Cole! And I'm going to clear an idea Cell phone too, Thanks Dickie !!!
Love to hear that, Rochelle!
Awesome thank you! Love the simplification.
Great advice folks! Nic is the first person to really make sense of the impact on writers and creators from AI.
Good info. Now I have to go rewrite the whole 'about us' section of my website...
Glad you enjoyed it!
Love your content guys! I think somebody had to boost the gain on the preamp. Boosting the gain is good but you guys need to be so close to that gain eater beast aka SM7B 😆Dynamic mics are great but as long as we keep our mouth very close to them. Again, thank you guys for everything you put out 🫡
Thanks for the feedback!
Here are my takeaways:
- Readers value things that they are taught to value, so writers need to be the ones to educate the world on why their writing is valuable.
- Writing is not a result, it is a byproduct of other activities.
- Ideas don't just happen when sitting at a desk, so writers should give themselves the flexibility to capture ideas in unconventional places.
