Mark, I've watched all your Helene-related videos and while I enjoy them and appreciate your work making them, when NPS says the BRP is closed, they mean CLOSED. 😄 Curiosity may have killed the cat, but trying to get satisfaction got you a big-ass fine. Warning to everyone who doesn't know, a ticket for ANYTHING on the BRP is a Federal matter and if it is bad enough, you have a mandatory appearance in Federal court and it ain't cheap. Even off the Park property, these Rangers have full authority and they will use it. However, like the Ranger you saw here, they are always very professional, courteous and friendly. The Rangers who wrote me up both times I got stopped for speeding (motorcycle) many years ago smiled the whole time they were writing the tickets, and one of the speeding fines was not for speeding on the BRP, but a road leading up to it that was out of the park. It was a bad enough fine I had to appear, couldn't just pay it off. (I passed the Ranger driving his personal vehicle on a double yellow line in a tight curve and going about twice the speed limit. He nailed me as I was stopped at a BRP restaurant (Peaks of Otter) At any rate, Mark thanks for the view of progress. Looks like they have been putting in a lot of OT trying to get it open again. There are a few sections already open; a 20-mile stretch just north of Grandfather Mountain has been open for a couple of weeks now and there are a couple of others further north, I think. Do you think it might have helped if you'd asked the Ranger if he knew who you were (YT videographer)? I don't think so either.

It was a bad enough fine I had to appear, couldn't just pay it off. (I passed the Ranger driving his personal vehicle on a double yellow line in a tight curve and going about twice the speed limit. He nailed me as I was stopped at a BRP restaurant (Peaks of Otter)
At any rate, Mark thanks for the view of progress.
> "smiled the whole time they were writing the tickets"
Hmm
@@Mindraker1 that says it all, no?
I wasn't going to tell him I was a youtuber. I don't even like saying that. Sounds kind of dumb😂. I just make videos for people to see
@@MarkHuneycutt I take your point but for the content you provide your subscribers I don't see it as a negative connotation. Just don't tell him you're a Tik-Tokker😀
@@DeereX748 good thing I'm not!
I enjoyed the ride with you. I live in Tennessee close to the smokies. I was wondering how they are doing up there. Sorry about the ticket but you handled it well. Thanks for the video.
So sorry you got a ticket! It was an awesome ride with you! Felt just like I was on your bike! Keep up the great coverage!
Thank you for doing this! They provide Zero information about damage and so we don’t know if it’s closed for days or years. Looks perfectly fine on that stretch.

Thanks for letting people know whats going on. Hope you are getting everything sorted out at the airport and at home etc. #freeMarkHuneycutt
Thank you for your service, Mark. Much respect 🇺🇸🫡🇺🇸🫡🇺🇸🫡
I am so sorry you ended up getting a citation for riding up that way where road construction is going on 😞 I wish it had been just a warning and didn't cost you. Take care 🙏
Im sorry that you got a citation. Thank you for great vedios. You're a very nice guy and thank you for your service. Keep on riding and be safe.
Great content like always. I dig your motorcycle keychain as I have the same for mine. Respect to the law 'enforcer' but I think he would have given his grandmother a ticket!
A ticket was unnecessary. Just another involuntary contribution to local government's bank account. Don't EVEN get me started on cops.
Thanks for taking one for the team. Glad to hear BRP is open. I’ve never been and should probably ride down soon. ✌️
I’ve been wondering. Thank you.
Thank you so much for your respectfulness with the cop guy. And he was very respectful of you as well.
I've driven that many times but not in over 30 years. Good to see the Blue Ridge. We already have snow here in the Rockies. Sorry you got a ticket but thank you for accepting it as a man.🙏
Just a grandma watching from Oregon. So now you're not only a veteran, you're also a criminal!😂 Honestly, I expected you to be a hothead and fume about your "rights!" But, you are obviously a respectful grownup and I thank you for your example.🤩💐🤩
that park ranger should be worried about chasing squirrels instead of giving you a useless ticket for your safety
Hey you got what you went for! Thanks for doing hazardous duty for us. I'd likely have done it too. And you held your tongue not telling the officer there were zero trucks and no hazards except him. lol 😂
Always had a lot of respect for you Mark. Still do! 👍👍👍👍
So cool.
Like how you manned up and took the punch. Not fun, but you did it with grace.
From a very happily married woman, that’s good husband material right there for some nice Christian girl. And if you are married I hope you have a nice woman who appreciates you.
my wife likes me!
Looking forward to your story about the older gentleman who survived in his home...as you were walking up that mountain...a few weeks ago...
