I wish all our drs were like you!! When I went in for my two year check up. I told my Gyno I was miserable with all the Changes and her response was “it’s better than the alternative” wow! I’m 47, been going through menopause fully since covid started two years ago, no more periods overnight! I feel like crap, all the time and all my biometrics have gone from normal BP/cholesterol and glucose, now it’s all steadily rising, now I know why! . I won’t even go into the massive amount of weight gain. So tired blah blah blah I definitely am subscribing to you and checking out your program. Thank you for your videos. I’m not sure how I ran across you, but thank goodness.
My OB pretty much just told me the reason I've gained weight is because I eat to dam much. I even showed her my food diaries. Needless to say, I won't be going back to her.
So thankful I found you and through your videos other great women doing this work. I am now on a path for better health with information you have share. Love, love, love what you are doing.
It's good advice whether you lose the belly fat or not. Eating this way at least lowered my blood pressure and improved my A1C but as for the "donut" around my waist and my oversized bosom, still there.. I'm one of those skinny fat women she's talking about. Before age 52, i was a B cup, a 25 inch waist, 36 inch hips, a thriving libido and tons of energy. Then BAM. Menopause. I went from a healthy 109lbs (I'm 5'2) to 127. I'm now a D cup (i don't like it) 29.5 inch waist and 38 inch hips. I've gone from a size 4 to size 8. I've tried so many different diets, keto, fasting, paleo, hormones, food allergy testing blah blah...10 years later here i am. Saw a functional med doctor in February who prescribed a diet very similar to Mary Claires. I followed her advise and changed my diet. For 3 months, I gave up all sugar, all dairy, all starches (I'm allergic to legumes, nuts, potatoes, corn and grains). Just ate green and purple vegetables, salmon, avocado, eggs, grass fed beef and a serving of berries every day. Drank only water and green tea. Walked 3 miles a day, dance 2x a week and resistance exercise. On my follow up visit i sadly only lost only 1.5 lbs. My waist measurement stayed the same. I'm 62 now and have learned to live with this donut shaped cortisol-pumping fat organ around my waist. If it kills me, i figure oh well, at least i tried. I still eat as anti inflammatory as i can and ocassionally give into cravings about once a month. (I'm human) That's the best i can do. I'm never gonna be 49 again😢
Hi Doc, recently discovered your channel and am grateful for your content- thank you. Would you consider doing a “what I eat in a day video” or a skincare routine? Thank you and have a great day!
Thanks explaining all of this. Im 59 and have been around the block regarding “experts” in this life stage and the best way to eat. I have tried it all at my age and finally landed here. Makes the most sense and I’ve changed so much of my way of eating the past couple years ..lost needed 40 lbs..but now im focusing on all the other things you say to go into this next decade as healthy as I can without becoming frail. Thank you for thanking the time.
I’ve gained 28 pounds since menopause back in 2013. I was started on creams back in 2012 and it did nothing for my symptoms. Now I was put on the estradiol patch at a low dose which gave me cramps. I also take 100mg of Prometrium which made me so lethargic. I’ve put on 8 pounds just in two months. I went to a nutritionist and I eat healthy and exercise and I can’t lose weight.
Well NurswmeMcNamara. I am a man but I have had to do hormone replacement therapy on myself to save me from jumping off a bridge and killing myself. Men and women share all the steroidal hormones just at different levels. Ive studied HRT for both men and women from those who FLED traditional doctors because of the lies they tell and the fact they are mainly ignorant on how to treat patients correctly. I will give you some lies and truth so you can see why standard doctors arent treating you correctly. 1 Lie: Progesterone is only for the uterus Truth: Men and women need progesterone as they age and men dont have uteruses 2. Lie: Best to start HRT with estradiol Truth: Since progesterone and testosterone fall more during the change, those need to be brought up first before a woman is given Estradiol 3. Lie: Progestins like MPA and levonogestrel are just as good as progesterone Truth: Only progesterone can do the many functions that the body needs. MPA and levonogestrel basically only target the uterus and ovaries and the play havoc on other hormones as they are endocrine disrupting chemicals the body does not make. 4 Lie: Estradiol protects against bone loss and osteoporisis Truth: Only 4 hormones help to build bones. Progesterone, Testosterone, Nandrolone and Vitamine D3( yes D3 is a steroidal hormione)
Hi I’m 40 and have learned so much from you. I have been putting on weight fairly fast. My doctor put me on metformin. I felt full but still had mental hungry cravings. Watching your videos has helped me understand my body and make nutritional changes. Thank you so much for sharing.❤️
At 55, in the past 2 years I have really noticed the belly gain which I have never had before. It is very reassuring that what you are saying here is inline with what the nutritionist I've been going to preached. And it WORKS! I dropped 10lbs of fat in a relatively short amount of time (not overnight, but far faster than working out ever did for me!). I feel so much better, healthier, lighter. My skin and hair is healthier too. I do struggle somewhat to get my protein in at every meal where I'm vegetarian, but I'm always searching for new ways to fit it into my diet in a healthy way. Thanks for all the info. It's great to find someone so knowledgeable and passionate on this topic on YT. Haha - also love the real life moments!

Hello Doctor! I'm in Colorado, do you take patients via telehealth? I know you prefer in person but it would be nice to go directly to you for care. I'm 47 and in the midst of what feels like chaos.
You talk about the body scan to know what type of fat we are carrying. Would you suggest that we have that done? What type of scanner do you use? I am in Michigan and there is a compnay with a DEXA scanner that I can have done. Appreciate any knowledge. Thank you

This is the problem having right now with my primary care doctor she’s young and I don’t think she’s understanding what my issue is I just turned 50 I was telling her that I started feeling like my menopause started at the age of 39 and all she told me to do was take a over-the-counter pill and left it at that I have a struggle for the last year and a half trying to get the weight gain down after having a ovarian cyst surgery on top of dealing with menopause and finding out that my mom had cancer. I have changed my doctor cents and I’m still trying to figure out what I’m supposed to do as of weight gain bloatingAnd sleep insomnia with this menopause do you have any type of suggestions I would really appreciate it
I highly suggest you seek out a doctor in your area to begin HRT. Maybe one that specializes, but definitely one that listens and has compassion. Turned 51 the end of January. The night sweats were periodically an issue looking back 2 or 3 years. Then at 50.5yrs the joint pain and tendon ligament inflammation became unbearable coupled with insomnia and related fatigue. A couple months later the hot flashes, like a fever though the day, began occuring a few days before my gyno appt. Blood work indicated my estrogen was very low and progesterone high (I should add that the blood work is a snap shot at the time of draw, as hormones are still fluctuating to a degree). My Gyno put me on .05 Lyllana transdermal patch (estradiol) and bioidentical 100mg progesterone. Progesterone added bc there are increased heath risks associated with unopposed estrogen use. This helped me a great deal. You'll still have battles but you'll have a chance to win, ime. There is nothing magic for the weight gain and for me I'm finding the depression and lack of motivation associated increasingly difficult to battle. I have a history of major uterine fibroids and polyps...had surgery this week and possibly presence of polyps created a greater imbalance in my body. See Dr in a week and I'll address adjusting estrogen dose based on symptoms I'm still experiencing. Sorry to write a book and hope this encouraged you.
@@eagrinstead1 no problem yes it did thanks alot . Says the last time I wrote you they sent me to a gynecologist he looked over my record and fell says I have a lot of allergies and hypertension blood pressure they are not able to put me on any medications that can help with my estrogen levels go down interfering with my food allergies and seasonal allergy medication plus the blood pressure medicine I’m on if they put me on the patch that they were thinking of it what kind of wreck that blood pressure medicine so it’s a work in progress now what I’m doing is trying to eat more salad space foods and drinking a lot of water with ice is more intense at night with the hot flashes the door today besides the summer days are coming I’m going to have to make sure I try to watch out for heat stroke or whatever of having a hotflashes but I appreciate it thank you again I will let my primary care doctor know about what you said and see if she can go from there glad Iran into you on UA-cam
My question is what should I be taking after I’ve had a hysterectomy. I had it five months ago and I also had bariatric surgery with the bypass for the bariatric bypass surgery almost 3 years ago in October. What supplements are best for me what can I take? I was told I couldn’t take hormones because I also have a heart condition and enlarged heart and COPD but neither one is giving me a real issue right now I have lost 100 pounds from the bariatric surgery but then when I had the hysterectomy I gained 30 pounds back and now I’m in the process of losing that 30 so I can get back to losing hopefully another hundred pounds and put me at a good weight Weight range anyway I just have these questions and I have so many more and I’m thinking about making an appointment with you I live in Texas I live in Boling Texas and I will probably have to do this in 2024 because my daughter is getting married and everything is cost us a whole lot right now, but I am going to be reaching out to you. I am 48 just had a full hysterectomy 2 weeks ago and I also have had a aorta valve replacement so heart disease is no fun I’m already feeling hot flashes and hormone changes what do you recommend? Help
Hi Dr. Mary Claire, first off I want to thank you for taking the time to explain so much about health, hormones, menopause, etc. I have found your videos extremely helpful and will be applying a lot of what you discuss as I’m entering into the early stages of perimenopause. The only thing I feel would improve your videos is not using profanity. I found it to be quite distracting and offensive. I personally don’t curse and I have young children and do my best to not expose them to profanity, so I ended up having to stop in the middle of your video because of the language. I usually don’t comment on UA-cam videos, but I felt compelled to just be honest with you about this because you have such a wealth of great information, but I feel it would be a lot more professional without the profanity. Again, I appreciate what you’re doing, and I hope you find this honest feedback helpful.
Just recently discovered you - wonderful to see a doctor so passionate about the linkage between nutrition and overall health. I’m a 55 yo woman who thankfully went through menopause relatively smoothly; with the exception of weight gain in my mid-section. I’ve never been slim and have almost always carried some extra weight and with this additional weight, it is definitely harder taking it off now than before. But reducing carbs, especially eliminating sugar and simple carbs, has greatly reduced inflammation and bloating. One thing I’m curious about and wondering if you could address is thyroid levels. I’m not on any medications and want to keep it that way, but both my sister and mother are on thyroid medication. How can I support my thyroid function naturally through diet? And how does the thyroid impact us (menopausal and post-menopausal women)?
Please talk slower - my God - try taking some deep breaths, slow down and you'll get the info out! Really appreciate the tips and suggestions but the delivery is so hyper that it's distracting.
She's probably taking too many adrenal supplements which can speed up your adrenaline and sympathetic system. It truly is a delicate balance when taking certain supplements. She seems extremely AGITATED. ‼️
1. Avoid Processed Foods - stop eating out of bags and boxes
2. Eat soluble fiber
3. Exercise
4. Sleep
5. Lower your triglycerides -lower simple carbohydrate intake no more than 25g a day
6. Eat protein 20-25 g (women over 45)
Good stuff

Will HRT or DHEA help?
My name is Rhonda pittman, I have a Facebook page under Rhonda, Michelle pittman. If you could reach out to me and help me I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you so very much and I have been watching your videos nonstop. You are wonderful.
You’re obviously very smart… but I have to say there are so many theories out there it’s very hard to find what the correct answers are.. followed dr berg and keto. But hard to stick to.. his theories are different to yours..
Mindy Melz likes keto too.. what are your thoughts on her theories.
Do you know any doctors in San Antonio that does what you do?
Hi Dr, I am worried about heavy metals. Are your omegas safe of that?
I’m 48 and 5’1 inhave always been for and still go to the gym etc I wear size xs , smalls and a few mediums n tops and same in pants maybe 4-6 yet my husband calls me at fat ass . I’m in peri menopause. I have the hot flashes and weight gain particularly in the inner thighs and tummy and back .. I feel like I still look good but this menopause crap is getting the best of me . Unfortunately, if you are not already a patient, we cannot offer you individualized advice. I do recommend the Galveston Diet.
Real nice husband calling you a fat ass!
What do you think about biote?
Hi Mary Claire. I love your info but I don't like the hats and stuff your view's do to you. I wish your programs were pre recorded because you could edit it and not have it so long. Your info is amazing and I wish I had the time and patience to watch you. Best regards Dana
Sorry!
@@maryclairehavermd8473Could you not save these lives which are repetitive for Tik Tok and just do pre recorded new topics etc for UA-cam?

Welcome!
Hi dr, I have a question, I have a weakend heart ,i took fenfen when i was young and damaged my heart..I'm 47 now and really scared of menopause. ( if I dont sleep my heart starts pounding and its scary.i cant have caffeine ect..what do you think about HRT for somone in my position. I'm a little scared of menopause either way..thanks
This is a great conversation with your physician. You need blood work and a full review of your medical history, but it is not impossible.
@@maryclairehavermd8473 thank you

I am thrilled to be a resource for you. Learn more at our blogs at www.galvestondiet.com
When amounts are talked about for women vs men, what are they based on? I'm curious because at 5'9" I'm as tall (and big overall) as many men.

Hi!

Are you really live now
This is a replay.
I Switched off as soon as I heard her say “For G sake” who does she think she is
Please talk slower - my God - try taking some deep breaths, slow down and you'll get the info out! Really appreciate the tips and suggestions but the delivery is so hyper that it's distracting.
Hey speed up, what up Janey😂❤
She's probably taking too many adrenal supplements which can speed up your adrenaline and sympathetic system. It truly is a delicate balance when taking certain supplements. She seems extremely AGITATED. ‼️
Slowing down the playback speed on your end can be helpful. Relaxes the tone and helps you digest the very valuable info at a calmer pace.
I love how she talks
