That coolant plug you’re wondering about is for a block-heater, useless in California, but helpfull in Eastern Canada or Us, where winter can be brutally cold! As a Honda technician, I’ve installed many block heaters. Keep up the good work.

The rust on horizontal surfaces is most probably caused by dust... dust absorbs and allows moisture to sit on the surface of material... proximity to the ocean means that moisture has quite a bit of salt in it too.

Also, from working in CNC Milling and Turning. Your steel is rusting quickly because you're cutting steel in the same space. The steel particles do a great job of assisting rust on even stainless surfaces. Cross contaminating steels is a thing. That's why plasma cutting shops have ridiculous measures to stop particulate because it won't just help corrode parts and equipment in the shop... it'll even destroy the building if it's made from steel, too.

The engine bay is as good as anything else and once painted it will be most satisfying. How good does it have to be? You are getting to the point where you have to rationalise practicality against ultimate OCD perfection otherwise we will all be very old when it is finished. The thing in the back of my mind is you are going to drive and track it. There is a strong chance it will have a bingle. Remember the Ford. Anyway I would now lean towards finalisation and wrap up the "design for ultimate perfection" stuff. BTW one of my builds I sold (stupidly) to a guy who totalled it a month later. There is a moral there somewhere. Cheers from OZ .

Some input on the turbo cooling and cooling in general: Think about it in terms of certain volumes of heat being moved around. Compared to how much heat the engine itself generates, the relatively small amount of heat in the turbo's cartridge will not make a huge difference. The biggest thing is that it's just concentrated in such a small area that lowering that concentration of heat around the journal or ball bearings is critical.

Awesome project, you’re always making good progress.
On a side note I tend to disagree on the welding . . . You can do whatever you want as it’s your car, but there is definitely a proper way to do things.
Solid wire push and flux core wire drag. “If there’s slag you drag”. The push is to prevent cold lap which happens when you drag solid wire, you end up stacking on top of the puddle and not getting enough heat into the base material to allow it to fuse to the weld pool.
The slag on stick welding electrodes and flux cored wires prevent this, also the drag is to avoid drawing inclusions into the weld.

Excellent work as always. For the engine bay I would recommend a two part satin black out of a spray gun. It is much more durable than spray cans and will deposit more material quicker and hardens faster. Spray cans can do a good job but they take a long time to dry well. If you insist on using spray cans pre-heat the surface as much as you can with a heat lamp or electric/gas heater and heat the can under hot running water. These tips bring a rattle can much closer to a spray gun in terms of performance. Still if it were my build I'd go with the air gun approach. Also the chassis may look bad now but you will be AMAZED how much better it will look with an even coat of black. The Italians knew what they were doing as satin black covers all kinds of sins :)

Sorry. Last comment. That surface rust is so light I wouldn't use a sand based media. Use soda blasting. Clean up is a snap and its not harsh like sand media. Another great tip is if you choose to use any type of under coating please go with Rock-it bedliner. This stuff is truly amazing. The kit comes with its own application gun and is epoxy based. It lays down very beautiful and smooth, its not at all rubbery, dries hard as a rock and leaves behind a beautiful finish. It mimics powder coating more then anything else. I have a classic car restoration shop next to my home and they recommended I use it for my restoration. How please I am they suggested it👍👍👍👍

Have you considered adding a place on the dolly that you could slot a longer handle (like a floor jack) in to give you the ability to push or pull the dolly around without having the handle the car itself? I wish I had done that on a previous dolly of my own as it would have saved me from putting a couple finger tip dents in panels while pushing it around.

@15:26 is that bar in the centre fully welded to the upright? looks like it's only tacked at 12 oclock.

Finally!!!! Someone besides myself believes in running coolant through the turbo!! Besides myself you are the first I have seen on any video i have watched to utilize the cooling ports! I simply can't understand why everyone doesn't make use of the warer pirts that cool the cartridge?? My $410 dollar TurboSmart 46mm wastegate, I run coolant though that as well. Cooling ports are on these top shelf parts for a reason. To all you kids and shade tree hot rodders out the. USE THE COOLING PORTS!

A nice thing to add to your new car dolly would be a detachable grab handle to push and pull the car
